    I have a '23 Shanghai Model Y P with the "comfort suspension". Its ride is superb - comfortable, absorbs speed bumps effortlessly, rough roads are a non-event. Has great handling when pushed. Maybe the US comfort suspension is different supplier/spec? Be interested to know what Berlin made Y P owners think.

    Thanks, informative video. Since you have both a long range and performance, what is the difference in ride quality? Specifically the suspension. Thanks.

    • @MattDanadel
      @MattDanadel  Před 4 měsíci +2

      The ride quality difference in my experience between the Long Range and the Performance is marginal. The Long Range has the slight edge and that's due to the smaller wheel and thicker tires. My Long Range has the 19" wheels and my Performance has the 21". Both suspensions are firm. Even the new "comfort suspension" Tesla has dubbed is firm. If you want the performance I say go for it. You can always buy a different set of wheels & tires. I made an in-depth video comparing the two. You can check it out here!: czcams.com/video/RYrzf7eMlgY/video.html

      I am seeing similar result as well. It is no where close to the marketing talk.
      Tesla recommended to keep the battery between 20 and 80%. This means at 80%, the car has a range of roughly 180 miles. This is bad enough, but in reality, when you factor in heat use in the winter, I have not exceed 150 miles range yet. I drive very conservatively and has the car on Chill btw.
      I love most things about this car and enjoy driving it, but the useable range is a joke. Yes, it is still better than many other EVs, I get that. But that doesn't make it a not a joke when it comes to driving range.

    Nice presentation. I don't own a Tesla yet, but did test drive a MY a couple months ago. Being a techie, I got right into it, and after a few miles felt right at home. One thing I'd do is migrate my simple HUD unit from my old VW (which has a lying speedo) over to the Tesla. I'm used to watching that for my speed. Tesla should have one IMO with the option of turning it off it someone doesn't want it. Next, is no one talks about AUX power outlets! Where are they? I'll need one for my HUD for sure, and another for my heated coffee cup, another for my portable refrigerator when I need that, etc. What about a built-in power inverter? Many cars got one these days. Maybe I want to use my power hungry laptop and need to plug in the power brick. I'm sure I can think of more stuff.

      A federal investigation into Tesla's optimistic range estimates was launched last year. The result of that probe is lower EPA range estimates for most of Tesla's lineup. Many people could never have achieved the old EPA range estimates in Teslas. The EPA has just cut the official range estimates for the Model S, Model Y, and Model X, reflecting a more accurate range that can be achieved in a Tesla.

    • @MattDanadel
      @MattDanadel  Před 4 měsíci

      I don’t think the vast majority of owners have a problem with charging because you just charge when you get home and you have a “full tank” ready to go in the morning.
      Now if you have a bunch of errands to run all across town, going from one end of town to the other (especially in the wintertime), it is not a pleasurable experience. You’d certainly have to stop and waste your time supercharging on the go.
      It’s not as bad for roadtrips because you’d have to stop anyway for snacks, bathroom, etc.

      I think people really reeeeeally overestimate the amount of mileage they actually need. Unless you’re regularly traveling more than 100 miles away from home, like on a daily basis, or you regularly do long haul driving like over 500 miles, you really don’t even need something with a 200 mile range, let alone 330. You go to work, the store, you go out, then you go home and the car charges up overnight.. You literally never have to worry about it. If you go on a road trip then you stop every couple hundred miles and charge up for 15-20 minutes while you get up and stretch your legs and then you go on your way. People are way too dramatic about range…
