      Brandon Ward hahahaha.. kamarot gid sa imo sa mga hinambalan..
      gin mix mo ang hiligaynon kag bisaya.. i'm hiligaynon speaker but i understand bisaya too..
      by the way HINAMBALAN or HINAMBAL or HAMBAL means (speaking language) the exact word for that, dont put the (-) between the "BAL" and "AN" because when you put it that shows a different meaning like this, NAHIBAL-AN or NABAL-AN or BAL-AN means (know or knowledge).. hope that could help

      I'm a Visayan from Panay Island. There are instances that Ilonggo is also called Bisaya or Binisaya here in Panay, Island.
      Visayan languages is mga wikang Bisaya in Tagalog.

    • @toiletholder
      @toiletholder Před 7 lety

      They are separate languages, not dialects. Generally, when someone from the Philippines uses the word "Bisaya" they mean the language spoken Cebu, Bohol, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Gen San, Dumaguete etc. Linguists who classify languages in English-speaking universities refer to this language as "Cebuano." If you look at the official websites of Davao City, GenSan etc. they generally refer to the language as "Cebuano." However, most people who speak Cebuano who are not from Cebu refer to the language as "Bisaya," as the term "Cebuano" in their heads means "from Cebu.' The language spoken in Bohol falls under the "Cebuano" classification." But since it has a distinct accent and slightly different usage of words, people from Bohol call it "Boholano" or "Bol-anon." It would be correct to refer to Cebuano spoken in Cebu vs. Bohol vs. Davao as dialects of the Cebuano language, just like American English, Canadian English, Australian English are dialects of the English language. But it would be incorrect to say that Ilonggo and Cebuano and Waray are dialects of the Visayan language or dialects of the Filipino language. They dont have enough mutual intelligibility among each other to be considered dialects of the same language. Even though Cebuano, Hiligaynon and Waray are very similar to each other and speakers from each language can often understand each other, it's very impractical as there are A LOT of differences among the languages that will make for misunderstandings and/or complete lack of understanding. It's kind of like Portuguese and Spanish. They are very similar, often entire sentences will be identical, but they lack enough mutual intelligibility for them to be considered the same language.
      Also, if you ask an Ilonggo or Waray if they speak "Bisaya" they will say yes but clarify that it ilonggo or waray. Warays often refer to their language as Binisaya.
      Ilonggo and Waray are just as Bisaya as Cebuano. They are called Bisaya not only because they are spoken in the Visayas but because they are off-shoots of the proto-Visayan language, they evolved out of a parent language called proto-Visayan, just like French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian evolved out of Latin.
