    It's crazy the discrepancy between how bad windows is with voice control and how well it generates Live captions. Both actions requires "hearing" voice but windows seems to use 2 completely different engines for that

      Microsoft moment, right there.

    • @krazymeanie
      @krazymeanie Před rokem +2

      I don't know about the different engine thing but I do think it's worst because of its usage. While captions are one continuous flow of listening and display text, voice control does quite a bit more. It listens, excutes, pauses listening whilst executing and whilst executing it actually has to perform tasks. So whilst both actions do require "hearing", voice control has a lot more to do than captions which hurts its fluidity. Voice control is something extremely tricky to get right.

      I think part of it might be because the voice capture for commands has to work slightly differently to the voice capture for a continuous stream of captioning. Having said that it was interpreting some things he was saying completely wrong, .e.g. "snapdeach to rights" (lol).

      "taskbar drag and drop"
      As someone that was in the beta channel (had my PC set to leave the insider program when the final version of this update came out, which worked just like it should) I was shocked when I got a build with the new system tray and saw they removed the ability to drag and drop the icons to arrange them how you want. I HATED it. Then when they did A/B testing of returning the feature to some (I hate A/B testing) and not others I was so glad to find there was a easy way to enable it if you were in the group that didn't have the feature back yet. What MS was thinking with that one I can't begin to imagine.

    Voice access bit was hilarious... It created perfect live captions yet misunderstood everything for some reason. Still, this video was useful to me because I opened the clock app on my Windows 10 and saw the Focus sessions feature then and there, which is so darn useful because it can be tied to Microsoft To-Do tasks. Thank you for showcasing that upfront!

    I'm happy! WINDOWS made cursor movement between nonidentical display resolutions easier.
    It's not how I'd implement it, but it simply wasn't at all working before. You had to position your cursor within the confines of the smaller resolution before you could transfer your cursor onto that display. Now, if my cursor is in out-of-bounds space on the smaller display and I try transferring from the larger to smaller display, the cursor will be able to do so. Basically, it was like hitting a brick wall before if trying to move from a high resolution to low resolution in the out-of-bounds space on the low resolution.
    This is all reflected in the Display Settings by a new option: "Ease cursor movement between displays."

    Start menu changes are nice, but most of this seems like fluff. There are only two functionality features missing in my mind. One I fixed with a registry edit but give me the full right-click context menu back by default or at least have it be an option that can be enabled. The other is to have an option that shows the seconds with the time. Windows 10 had it where if you click on the time in the bottom right corner of the screen, it would show the calendar, etc., but it would also show the seconds. This was extremely useful and is frustrating that it was gotten rid of. I don't want to have to open a separate app or webpage just to pull up a clock with seconds.

    Having used both Linux and Windows, I found one area Linux really out-did Windows in, was in appearance. There are many desktop environments and distributions of Linux that look absolutely great, probably most notably (for most people), KDE Plasma and I really felt Windows 10 was starting to look its age. Whilst Windows 11 may not have TOTALLY caught up to its Linux based cousins, I think Windows 11 really has come a long way...in quite subtle ways. There still arent many options, but the options there are, really make a difference and feels put together really nicely. Its certainly a BIG improvement in the looks department over 10 IMHO.

    This is a good demo video of new features in Windows 11, but many people who have tried Windows 11 have experienced less security in exchange for new features that they will not use or need and prefer security and privacy over more features that are less important than security, privacy and user ownership of the software rather than Microsoft ownership of the software and imposing their unauthorized updates, unauthorized changes in settings and hoarding users data and band with, which is why a low-end Linux Chromebook has a faster internet speed performance than a high-end Lenovo Thinkpad X2 Carbon using Windows.

    1 year and we still don't get explorer tabs or custom snap layouts. The focus app can still not block applications or websites. Light and dark mode can still not be controlled by time. Is this OS developed by a team of 10 people or what are they doing as one of the biggstest companies in the world? And why do I need to log in to shorten a clip with clipchamp?
    The best thing about this update is that we now can finally use android apps together with professional software that only runs on windows, because android apps work mostly better than every application of windows itself.
