    by far the warmest part of the movie. However we all know what happens after this scene and it's terribly heart breaking.

    Dear Billy was perfect casting for Monty.
    Monty - The one "relation" who would have actually cared for the Baudelaires as a caring guardian after their parents, and he would've let their talents blossom. Violet may have come up with a new way to care for the snakes. Klaus, researching new breeds and Sunny, a fearless handler once older.

    What’s heartbreaking about this scene is that the song is about all the things that Bonnie still had yet to do when his life was cut short. “The house left unfinished and babies unborn.” And it’s the song that Margy sings right before he dies, which makes you think of all of the things he still wanted to do in his life before he lost his family and then the Baudelaire’s lost him

    I was a bit disappointed that Monty didn't sing a song in the Netflix version. Nonetheless, they did a great rendition of the Monty arc themselves. Very heartfelt. His death was tragic, as is everything else in the miserable lives of the Boudelaire orphans.

    So unfortunate how the song is about a man who goes to battle with his horse and only his horse comes back because we all know what happens to Uncle Monty :( so sad that the children didn’t get to live with him, they seemed like such a good little family for each other

      Thoughts on Jim Carrey’s performance ?

    • @AlmostWorthless
      @AlmostWorthless Před rokem

      @@ANDCFC95 Sometimes he struck the right tone but he was capable of a much better performance. I like him as a actor. If you ever see his Best Male Performance acceptance speech for The Truman Show at the MTV Movie Awards, you know how well he can play a character. In this movie, he’s playing his mid-90s “Jim Carrey” persona. A more confident director would have reigned him in and encouraged him to inhabit a character instead of playing a version of himself.
