ABOUT MY TENNIS HQ
---------------------------------------------------
We reveal pro tennis tips that help amateur players quickly win more. Our how-to videos cover all essential parts of tennis: forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, singles strategy, doubles tactics, and more. Brought to you by Gui Hadlich and Karue Sell, passionate former D1 college and ATP professional playerss - Sport
Missed the premiere but hope you guys are enjoying this one. And BTW, for those caught up in the nonsense "what's up with the screaming cmon on mistakes and where is the etiquette", grow up. This is a battle. We are pumping ourselves up, keeping the mind positive. There is absolute no disrespect towards each other. If you are that person, I bet you are very easy to beat. This is all fair game, we shake hands and move on. Keep your bs to yourself
Also, sometimes the come ons happen because you made a shot either a get or a good shot to elicit the mistake. Sometimes I come on during my matches because I put one last ball into play and the person missed an easy shot because I made a great hustle on a ball. I wasn't come oning my opponents error but my hustle that caused that error. That's why I come on on some mistakes. It's not to insult my opponent, it's just the way I celebrate my small victories along the way. I do understand when people do it to be dicks and obnoxious and I"m not a fan of that, but I think when you see that, it's more clearly identifiable. I don't think either of you were being dicks to each other. And your opponent was very generous on a call. The ball floated high and landed short-wide out, but he still played it. 10:04 Good sportsmanship on his part.
hell yea brother you tell 'em
When matches are cut like this it makes it feel like you have no time to breathe. No time to process what's happening. I get why it's done, to maximise analytics and watch time BUT 80% of a tennis match is spent not playing tennis. I much prefer watching a full long match. But times have changed and ppl have no attention span. I feel like you may feel similarly aswell Karue?
Nonetheless, great effort in the match!
Great match Karue and how to find a way. Colton's FH and running FH was very good, but you found a way to keep a lot of the points on your terms. Great job coming to the net as well. I hope you have a great training block and looking forward to watching the journey in 2024!
Also, is that SportCam you used for the score?
those casual club players will never understand the competitiveness, intensity and mental battles of high level tennis
That was mentally strong. Many players would have broken down with that many first or second-ball misses. Also, everyone in the comments mentions your backhand, and it is money, but your return is your strength. Being able to pressure someone when you're technically on defense is powerful. Great job!
I would have broken down after first ball 😂
You are right. His returns are gold. What a match!
I dont think it is that factor. I think Karue just knows he is better and more constant and will likely edge over him over time.
I was a nationally ranked-junior and collegiate player. Everyone at a high level is positive-minded and believes in themselves, but everyone can get negative. Heck, you see pros at the highest level who aren't having a good day decide to tank. What separates the winners from the losers are those with a short-term memory and the ability to reclaim their potential when things aren't going their way.@@nsebast
Yes, I am very impressed by his returns, he makes it look very comfortable that to on such strong serve of the opponent , keep it up karue!
Karue's 2-Handed BH is out of this world!
It is seriously so good. It reminds me of Nalbandians!
@@BriceBriceBabyy nalbandian has the best backhand of all time on the mens side no one could do what he did with his backhand
9:29 really is satisfying to watch also 10:01 his opponent got a monster forehand
@@Official.tadiwa Djokovic and Agassi's were probably a bit better or equal with Nalbandian tbh.
Agassi’s was better.
Hell of a battle Karue, well done to come back from a break down twice in the 3rd! Ranking up to 850; Congratulations,
Your backhand cross court is gold Karue, you never miss it, awesome job!
Best tennis video on this channel so far. The game had everything. That kid got potential. His forehead, speed and ability to counter attack are insane
I was glued to the screen the whole match -- thanks for posting! Love how you have the ability to approach and also mix things up with the occasional drop shot. There were certainly some errors, but not many bad decisions -- way to gut it out!
Yeah didn’t play that well all week. Weird conditions but you just have to deal with it haha
Killer match, Karue, love seeing age and guile prevail against a super talented young gun. Watching his first service game, I thought, holy shit, this kid has huge pace and all of the lines from both wings. Your play style forced him to adapt to slower, more controlled shots, while waiting for the put away, he couldn't just swing out on every shot. He got a lot of different looks from you, which slowed down the rhythm of his shots, had to generate his own pace and dance to your rhythm. You played the exact style you coach.
Pointing to the brain after match point was the exact right way to celebrate
What an awesome match! Thanks so much for posting the full thing. Hope to see more of these full pro tourney matches in the future. Great playing and mental skill!
Finally some 4.5 level tennis
😂😂
Yes, on the way to 5.0!
they're getting there!
Ummmmmm....I don;t know any 4.5s who could get a game off these two....more like 5.5/6.0+
LOL Mark the troll strikes again
what a freak'n match! Loved the fight, even getting through poor 1st serve % in first set, you kept battling and made him work. Congrats!
Great job Karue! Thank you very much for uploading the whole game!
HOLY, I was at the edge of my seat this whole match. Great come back from a set down!!!
Soooo nice how you really turn around the match even when you are playing not your best :) it is sooo motivating to see you playing at this high level and just also to see the pros struggle too and fight till the end!! Loved the match, emotions and the tennis both of you played
Amazing match, loved it!!! Great win Karue, keep 'em coming!!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Great win Karue. Really enjoyed that. And a very good and solid game. And well edited also, without the breaks and pauses between services.
This was a fantastic match to watch. Your grittiness to keep believing even when down at several points is impressive. And I love the camera angle-it makes this better tennis viewing than the ATP matches in many ways.
Really enjoyed watching Colton’s technique. Such relaxed big swings and solid contact
Loved the match. So many things to learn. The Karue first serve was off today but heck of a comeback.
What a match! Glad you were able to stay mentally tough, especially considering what happened in your previous video, this is a nice contrast. Congrats! Looking forward to more videos of matches 👏
Really great defense in that last tie break! There were some unforced errors when on the run throughout the match, but you did a really good job of dialing in during those tiebreaks. Sick come back and thanks for sharing!
This was so fun to watch, thanks for posting!!!!
Great fight and love the content. Keep it up
Finally a FULL decent length matchplay video. 51+ mins good to see. Thanks for posting this Karue
Great match Karue, super close! I liked your Stanimal celebration with the point to the head, smart tennis! Also great angles on your two handed backhand!
Amazing battle, amazing camera angle, and cherry on top you won! Congrats!
Great match Karue! Watching a match at this level makes you appreciate how sick a creative player like Federer, who not only plays the points peerlessly but on top of that hits jumping overhead lob winners and between the legs shots on big points, is.
that was very very impressing! both of you fantastic.
Hi Karue, love to see you play and win, of course. Love the channel and your tennis. Great work! Keep it up. My best wishes for your pro career. Hope to see you in some big ATP event soon. Cheers, Sven
Great match! Way to hang in there! Looks like Karue is using that new brown looking prostaff tennis bag 👀
Just a simple thanks, Karue! :) I really appreciate all the great insight and how meticulous your content is! You have been a great help in my tennis journey, and I look forward to future videos!
p.s. You have got me in the Marcos Giron corner too! Thanks again :)
Amazing match. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Congrats Karue!
Backhand was LETHAL that day, Karue @MyTennisHQ . Well fought, man.
Congrats, hard battle, great mentality!
Holy hell, what a battle. Congratulations!
Way to compete, stay mentally strong and grind out the win. Congrats!
Would be awesome to have some voice over from you in future videos recounting your thinking / analysis.
Thanks for a great channel and all the best 👍
So fun to watch!
good match!
thanks for sharing!
Incredible battle. You are a beast at the net. I love the reaction after finally making a drop shot! 😲
Very good content Karue.. thanks
Impressive level, great match!
LOL!!! Yoooo, exactly how you walked off at the end is how I walk off during a Rec League Match!!! 😅 Way 2 stay tough Brotha!!!!
Grande vitória Karue. Jogão. Parabéns!
Well earned! Net game and overheads were superb and i dont think i saw a single double fault Karue. Your psychological grit was also on display after coming back from a slump in the middle of the first set. Great job 🎉
Wow, what an amazing match! You’re a monster, Karue!
You make dictating the point with the backhand look fun and you inspired me to practice my t-serve on the Ad side more. I always go body/wide for free points. GGs
INCREDIBLE match, super entertaining. Colton had a LOT of pace in his game, particularly those damn forehands. Congratulations for staying in the match, being patient and capitalizing. A lot of mental maturity in order to pull this off. Let´s keep advancing, Karue!!!
Well that was exciting! Awesome match!
Thanks for posting Karue!! 🙌
caramba! que jogasso, vi em dois dias, fantástico!!
Great match man!
34:53 I felt like this was the perfect MTHQ point. You preach shot selection and making decisions early, and this crucial point perfectly encompassed it.
Bravo! The inner game of tennis is showing up finally! A few more reads of it, a few more matches, and you’ll be qualifying for the US OPEN in no time!!! Because time doesn’t exist!!! Go for it!!!
What a game Karue! So happy for you!
The comeback in the third set is real!!!
The last few point it proved to be key to keep playing to his backhand, cause every time you give him the opportunity to play a forehand, he generates a lot of power. Also going to the net a few times was good for keeping some rallies shorter. What an exhausting match, well played both of you! 👏👏
I recognize that chair ump from Old Settlers Park! Nice playing!
That was a hell of a battle and some very high level tennis on show. Nothing in it and it came down to a point here or there and imo Karue's greater experience in tight matches snuck him the match.
Well done Karue and kudos to your opponent as he is clearly very talented👍
It was crazy ❤love it
Fantastic singles!
Man great job having good body language despite having a tough serving day. That is part of the sport and I am glad that you managed to pull that off. Making yourself believe that you can do win it despite having a bad day is a hell of task. There will be a lot of days like that on the road where you will have to flip it into something positive and enjoy competing with what you got.
Karue...glad to see you serving better!
34:53 What an awesomely constructed point. Dude your inside-out backend is sick.
U a beast...crazy match and btw your rival has some crazy skills too...great match it must feel so good to win a match like this one
He is a great player and a tough competitor. It was a battle
Could you make a video on what you do for workouts to get stronger. I don’t know what workouts to do and for how many reps. Thanks
You've got one of the sweetest down-the-line backhands I've ever seen!!
That volley at 35:26 to finish the point was gold. Keep it up man!
Pro mentallity! What a come back. If those 1st serves % increase would be a much easier match, but glad you found a way out eventhough! Keep up the good work :)
What a fight 👏🏽👏🏽
Couple of months later and I feel your level went up significantly since this. Keep it up!
I played and worked at the tennis club in Olympia Colton played at. His dad had him training against top players from such a young age, cool to see him do so well in college
So good man dayum
Very impressive especially in the 3 set
Good shit man
Killer match!!!
great win! 👍
Great Match karue, very tactical savvy performance against young and powerful guy. by the way what grip do you use for your backchand?
Damn it man, I was shaking from 4-4 in the third set. Such intensity is gonna kill me someday!! Good W!!
Beautiful match. Great points. This video in particular shows off your game style moreso than a lot of other videos I have seen. The result is less important than the execution. But that said, nice result.
crazy hitting power from Smith! I noticed that he started to slow down in the 9th game (12:54) super aggressive baseline hitting!
Honestly, I enjoyed watching this match much more than normal GS matches! lol Was rooting for you Sell!
that was a war
nicely done
Great match! You remind me on myself, i feel so many times frustrated after misshiting a ball that was mean to be attacked and i never complain when opponent make a great point. Everyone who's playing tennis know how demotivated can it be to miss a ball that you hit 10/10 times right on training ground. Smith guy is really really good altought he shot himself in the foot when he had everything in his own hands . Probably overthinking and a little bit of respect to you. Congratulations on winning a huge mental battle !
Good win Karue! That dude played really well. I did notice some backhands in the net where you looked a little upright and stiff. Also, a lot of times when you missed a first serve attempt you would hit your second serve to the same spot as the missed first serve attempt. Could get predictable if you’re doing that too often. Great playing overall and you showed some great stubborn mental toughness until the end!
Great win. The top college level is ridiculous today. This dude was an absolute ball machine with serious pop on the serve. Beautiful backhands both of you.
tough. respect
Being down 2-5 in 1st set and almost coming back. Being down a set point in the 2nd set and fighting that off. Being down a break 1-3 in the 3rd set and coming back in the tiebreak to win it. That's a lot of coming back. That's a lot of fighting. I'm telling you, you should post more matches. Both wins and loses please.
Excellent, even, match.
Your strokes are so smooth and compact I feel like you must be a strong dude the way you manhandle balls. Former D1 baller whose body betrayed him and fizzled out too soon… all us have-beens and never-beens are rooting for you! Being a father and 30 you are the man !!!
The Scream after the first break in the third set. so hype
3rd set 4-4 0-0 point was amazing same with the one before that with a bunch of overheads. Beastly
15:53 return twins!
Volleys are so good. Well done.
What racquets and strings were you guys using?
That serve right around the 8 minute mark you called out but the ump called in has to be one of the closest line calls ever, i think it was out but even in video replay its impossible to see if the ball caught the very edge of the line. Great match!
I think there’s a big weakness point of smith game which is High spin balls goes to his backhand specially when he returns .. thanks for share Sell good luck in the next tournament
wooooooooooooooooow!!! regards from spain!!
You did a great job keeping your poise when your opponent would verbally celebrate your misses. That is not easy to do! Fun match.
Hey Karue, what is your rank right now? You’re playing so smart, I love this content!!
Your opponent is fast as hell dude plus he got the explosive serves. In terms of skills, you're definitely over him. But the more you calmed, the better shot you made. In this match, I think you handled the frustrations like a champ that you deserved every bit to win. Such a great match!
that inside out backhand down the line is a thing of beauty.
