it's not enough to have powerful shots, you need the brain to use them, but..
He's a brute. Maybe it worked in juniors but you need more than that to be successful at pro level.
I love how Ben was fighting to get back but light feet are a must on grass and his opponent was very light on his feet. The aggression is there but Ben isn't polished yet...

I don't know who Jubb is but he played really well and hit 2 or 3 of the greatest shots l have ever seen.
Never heard of him either. But, his racket has some magic
kyrgios played him in 2022 and he took kyrgios to 5 sets, after kyrgios said that jubb is a hell of a player.

When I make a comment like that I compare to the best ball striking in the world. Fed, fognini, Safin, Nalbandian, delpo, guys who understood something others didn't in order to produce something special. Shelton is a great athlete the way shapovalov was. Jubb has something. Not fully there yet.. but on the path. And sheltons backhand sucks. Forehand is big but that's about it.

Just as I predicted, Tabilo won the tournament. The guy is extremely talented, I only noticed him this year and I was in awe.
If Shelton or Kyrgios did this 1:56 or this 3:23 or this 3:59 Tennis TV would give them their own video.

@@gbz_yt It’s an example. Not everyone is Novak or Carlos and can dominate on every surface. Ben is 21 and this guy said he’s gotta up his grass game no excuses. Well what’s Casper’s excuse for being a bad grass player. He’s older. He won’t even compete on grass until Wimbledon.
I think only playing 3 matches on grass prior to this is a pretty damn good excuse. You can't expect everybody to win Wimbledon after playing like 10-15 matches on grass like Alcaraz did.
@@pakdrescott6492 Ruud is very upfront with his limitations playing on grass and makes fun of it. Grass is for golf he said in an interview. His preparation for wimbledon is mainly walking on the grass of the surrounding golf courses.

@@alexsheets9085 You absolutely can unless there's a severe surface issue (Meddy on clay, Ruud on grass), which is why that match counts as a massive upset. Shelton's last loss to a player outside the top 100 was almost a year ago, and outside the top 200 was when he was still playing mostly Challengers.

Jubb either had a good day or has very good anticipation, the number of put aways missed by Shelton is insane!
I think the strong wind was an equalizer, making higher-ranked players not so higher-ranked anymore, which made upsets more likely. Kudos to the newcomers for making the most of these opportunities.

something was off about Mensic's FH in this and last matches. it lands short a lot and doesn't have a good pop on it, like he's not hitting the racket's sweet spot. hopefully it's just a fluke.
@@vinny6_9 He is not used to playing on grass with so many low bounces and less time for preparation of the shots. But he still played some good tennis. Also he is back after an injury, so it will take some time to get into his best form.

Terrible loss for Ben. Think it’s time to bring in another coach. Yes he’s done well and his ranking is high for someone who is still fairly new but his losses are so inexplicable.
