I wasn’t originally excited about this interview but his energy and storytelling have made this 10x better than I imagined
100%
Because most white folks don't like lead black actors.....
Same here bud !! I have a different perspective with CGJ now
How could you not be excited about Cuba, man's a legend that got blackballed by Hollywood
You like the pedos that could tell you a good story I see
Lord! I’m an 80s baby…Do you guys understand how much we love & appreciate these story telling podcasts. We had nothing back then to access all of this…. I’m tearfully grateful all the way from South Africa 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Cuba Gooding jnr played the actual enemy of frank Lucas and Lucas’s best friend Melvin Coombs who was puff daddy’s father!! Ain’t this crazy😮🙉
I'm a boomer born in 1949 and oh life was good, not perfect but maybe by today's standards. Great music, movies, automobiles, fashion and people were kind to each other. Have faith there is lots to enjoy in America; past, present and the future...
What is even better is that you actually go out of your way to express this because most people keep this kind of stuff to themselves instead of taking a minute to drop a comment.
These kinds of comments are as great as the content of the podcasts. 🤜🏼🤛🏻
@@mpopp7I don't know about the future, here.....but I do know about eternity with God the Father in Heaven.....now that's really gonna be beautiful❤❤❤😊
@@richardnovikas920 cool stuff…..love to see ppl be able to back track a little and empathize with each other, read each others minds dang near taking the words right out of the next man mouth, shed a tear 🥹 together, smile, and laugh all in a 30 word comment….way to cool…..reminding someone of past great times is priceless…..couldn’t even begin to express the impact it has on one’s soul!!!! 👏 🤝😁🥹👍🫡
I get the impression he’s a straight up guy. As someone who joined the navy I wish I could tell Cuba how influential that movie was for my life. I’ve seen it 100 times and it’s still difficult to hold back tears
Yes, That movie became my favorite
You mean stand up dude?
Cuba needs his own pod cast I can hear him for ever what a great story teller wow !!!
I met Cuba recently in Sarasota Florida. I sang his father song “ everybody plays the fool” While playing piano at this popular restaurant. He was amazed and gracious to me. Salute to Cuba sr and Cuba jr legendary
The first problem with your comment is that you were in Sarasota... The second problem is that you admitted to being in Sarasota... SMH. 😂
Very cool, @iamdamore!
@@TTFN55 thank you

I love when people like this come on the show. You have to listen to the stories but understand the mindset it takes to go through what they had to do. That’s where you learn. Most of us aren’t multi millionaires, so listening to their mindset leaves huge clues.
It’s like watching a movie!
very well said bro, I completely agree 100%
For sure
Yes, Pat's doing a great job selecting his guests and paying them well to show up for interview. That's the advantage you have when the host is multi millionaire and have the ability to do two jobs well, select guests diligently and have the money to make it happen. Enjoying a lot!
Definitely, agreed.
I went to school with Cuba Gooding Junior back in 1985. we will take the bus after school together. I remember him telling me what the actor movie huge and he believe you so much that it happened right in front of my eyes when you got the role in coming to America. Cuba is a true inspiration to me and my peers because he showed us that we can make it if it was possible. Love you Cuba Keep it going to take it to the next level, North Hollywood for life
How cool is THAT GREAT MEMORIES FOR YOU
Big jerz - I wish I could talk with him and get a break from him in the biz , hes done incredible quality and amount of work , I've been struggling decades ! North Hollywood high is also where Adam Carolla went 😅😊
If podcasting gave out Oscars, both Cuba Good Jr and Patrick would have been nominated. Cuba auditioned and even though Patrick was impressed he stuck to his role of asking the right questions and letting Cuba do his thing. This is the Patrick podcasts we fell in love with. No impressions, all the boxes ticked, totally prepared. Even the great Larry King would have tipped his hat for this podcast. Was Patrick acting or was he channeling Larry King❤😀. It doesn’t matter because it was brilliant. Ricardo Authenticity Rating for this podcast 10 out of 10. Great job PBD.
😊
When Patrick sticks to just regular interviewing, everything is fine. It only gets ugly when he begins to try so hard to crawl into a politician's ass.
This is the best interview for many reasons. The reason that stood out for me is when Cuba Gooding Jr. insulted you not on purpose but out of passion for explaining how he connected with his dad. It didn't even phase you. You are such a Pro! It was like it never happened and the energy never changed. Most people would lose their shit. BRAVO PAT! BRAVO!
I agree, then a bit later summarising his earnings from " Boyz " off the top of his head put that insult to bed !
I don't think he ment to insult him. I think he was joking around. Like when he said a little late to try to figure out your life. When Pat was talking about his 20s. He is just comfortable with him
Cuba kept talking, so it did give him time to compose himself if he needed to. I love how Cuba says what he thinks.
It was direct and blunt. No joking.
1:05:08 - “No you don’t listen, you don’t interview, you don’t pay attention.” Serious insult!
Pat asked a bad question that demonstrated that he was not listening. Clearly Cuba had a tough relationship with his Dad even since childhood. Cuba was taken to a vulnerable place and he did not demonstrate the self control that he seemed to maintain throughout the interview. Cuba was clearly less interested in PBDs stories, kinda like “Did I come here to listen to you or did I come here for you to listen to me” PBD’s style is to relate to the guest with his own stories, he isn’t a traditional interviewer because he is a self made multi-multimillionaire, “he’s important, making moves” so yeah Pat didn’t take that lightly, he will never forget that insult not like he’s going to defend himself or retaliate but that was someone he truly respects being real. And I bet he learns from it and sets himself aside to actually interview the guest when he starts digging through their intimate personal life.
@@TheLifeHeLives-HeLivesToGod this is the comment I was waiting for. That’s the real insult Cuba wouldn’t let them talk at all. Pat couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
Best part of this interview was that Adam wasn't there to interrupt just to hear himself talk
THANK YOU
Seems to always be the dumbest guy in the room
These hater comments are the worst.
@@alexduran6268 noone likes him, i am sorry. PBD needs to do what's best for business
AMEN !!
"No, you don't listen, you dont interview, you don't pay attention. I told you..." LOL, I was thinking the same thing.
PBD handled it well, like a professional. Never tried to verbally correct, just showed later on that he was now paying more attention
But a few minutes later PBD starts a question by rattling off the first few years of CGJ career . From auditions to pay . Lol I think as a passive way to say bro I was listening .
It seems PBD needs to impress hinders his listening ability. I also saw it when PBD was a guest on Bill Maher. It was as if PBD was more focused on a 'gotcha' moment than listening and having a friendly conversation.
I love talking to people like this, whose stories lead into other stories and down a rabbit hole and in the end they still bring it back around to the original question. I am enthralled listening to Cuba telling these stories! He's also passionate without being loud. Thank you PBD and "Cube"!
Thank you for that explanation, lol, that description is me, and my story telling, must be why my friends say........"tell us a
Shirley story!"
I love the answer he gave when Pat asked him “Do you think you had a disadvantage making it into Hollywood for being black?’ His response “ I always saw for opportunities” 🙌
🤣🤣🤣
💯
😂
That's why he's a success. He was good at what he did. He saw the opportunity. He jumped at it. He didn't hide in a safe space and whine about racism like everybody tells us to do nowadays.
To play devils advocate, did you miss that opening like 7minutes? He wasn’t just a random black kid, both of his parents were famous musicians.
Crazy when I think of Cuba I think of Boyz n Da Hood & Snow Dogs 😂
Snow Dogs was the first thing I thought of as well xD
🗣️🗣️🗣️RICKYYY😂😂😂
I think of Pear Harbor hahahah.
I think of Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman. Excellent movie!
Holding Ricky in the alley when he got shot....I'm still pissed at those guys in the red car tinted out...
One of the best interviews on PBD - You ask a few questions and let him speak. No Adam…a bonus
Great actor great person
No Adam the tool. Good ridence.wasteman
His mind wanders just like mine when telling my kids about my years growing up…they love it. I really enjoyed hearing him just go wherever he wanted!

Cuba is a truly talented artist. He took his shot when the door was open and delivered greatness. Fantastic.
I loved this interview so much! Only reason I watched this podcast is because a friend said Cuba was on it. The host did a great a job. I will be watching more of his show. I met Cuba back in 2004 and he was the most genuine sweet person. His energy was amazing. I will forever be a fan ❤
Don't think I'll ever forget how many times he said "I'll never forget" in this interview. Cuba loves him some Cuba.
Thank you, PBD! Cuba, we love you. Please stay out of trouble, and keep using those magnificent gifts God gave you. You are a survivor, and we long to see you more. ❤️
Patrick this was your absolute best interview yet. Cuba was a great guest and you guys killed it. BZ sir
You're being sarcastic, I hope...🤮
an actor talked himself for an hour and a half.. I guess if that's what you were hoping for and you're a fan, then i can see why someone would enjoy that, but from PBD pod perspective, or from someone who doesn't care about acting work or hollywood, this was a nothing burger.
Black men have such God given talent. In all seriousness , look at the best athletes, rappers , singers, actors, comedians , body builders etc... there is no niche that black men and women can't conquer and be the best at it. They have amazing genetics , listen to the best singers of any era and almost guaranteed to be African American.
I wish I had a fraction of the vocal talent of some of these guys. Cuba Gooding is a perfect example of a "Renaissance Man" . There is nothing this man hasn't done! I hope these allegations are untrue .
Calm down buddy you sound really suspicious fawning over black people like that, you can like someone for their talents but you are laying it on way too thick! And this is coming from a black man.
Thank you sir
Hockey?
This is what an interview like this should be like, especially one that chronicles a person’s life and journey: just a good conversation. It's really nice to watch and listen to. We do not see the time passing. And Patrick David is made for that. I love this man and his way of doing things. He's a super intelligent man, and he brings us back, with the modern means of this time, to the good standards of how to correctly inform people and deal with different subjects, which traditional media no longer do. Really bravo!
🇨🇺 has always been an amazing actor. Hope he can make a comeback. We were so lucky growing up in the 90s spoiled by all these amazing talents. It was a magical time.
He ain’t Cuban!! 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Have you ever watched Radio? Nothing was great about that performance. What about him punching the air in Boyz in the Hood? You really believe he's a great actor?

I’m so glad he did this interview✨ Patrick was right through all his stories it felt like 5 minutes, time flew by but you got a real sense of who he was and still is! Loved the movie, “What Dreams May Come” and Cubas story how he got the chance to play the role was brilliant!

That was a great movie
Amazing Movie 😎
My all time favorite!
Yes
All those stories he told were gold. First time I got to him for who he truly is through his experiences. Some of those stories had me laughing so hard. Great way to start off my day.
I liked him in a few movies but now I’m going to rewatch them with much more appreciation. What a great story teller and seems like a good guy
I kept saying to myself, that Cuba's dad's passing seemed to have changed him, then he added the OJ role plus his own life experiences taking him into dark places, and I understood his behavior, not excusing it, but understood it. Now I hope and pray that he can dig as deep into himself, for himself as he has for his career to be the accomplished man & actor GOD has purposed for him to be.
No matter the topic, always enjoy listening to PBD & you guys. Thanks for getting my work day started positive

If so,I love that movie.
Loved how he entered the courtroom in his heavy diving gear.
That is my favorite movie!
Much love and respect to Cuba and PBD for having him on. God Bless.
The hell is wrong with you
I’ve never heard CG do an interview before. Such a likable guy.
Watch holywood actors roundtable interview.
PBD, I love your content, but this interview with Cuba Gooding Jr. was next level. Absolutely amazing. I loved everything that Cuba has done in film and wondered what happened to him. You peeled the onion and we found a diamond at the core. What a gem. Keep up the great work. The future is bright!
I remember Cuba the most from being on Pearl Harbor. Epic the way he played that boxer who took the .50 and shot down the zero. Tear jerker character, he played that so well.
My favorite was Men of Honor. That was really a tear jerker.
I remember him most from Boat Trip 😏 It wasn't even that good of a movie, just a corny comedy but it went on tv re-reruns all the time when I was a kid lol
It was only 6mins he only was on screen 5x in pearl harbor, he was back up actor in that, literally 5mins in total screen time I don't count that as he says himself in Ehollywood interview
That movie was awful
I seen Boat Trip with an Ex girlfriend at the theater,
I went Just to go
The whole time she thought I didn't like it cause I just sat there with a moody face.
But I actually liked it and now it's one of my Favorites when it comes in Randomly@@Barbarossa_F

I really think Cuba will get 10 big acting offers from this interview!!
Cuba Gooding Jr doesn’t need me judging him but clearly needs more separation from the world, stability and grounding in his life, more time alone with God, and solid fellowship with individuals in the faith. Solid growth stuff. Something most all of us need.

WOW, what a touching and emotional interview! Spirits are definitely real! I had the same experience a couple of weeks ago, when I was listening to an old school playlist from the 70's and a song came on that my late brother just loved and while I was listening to that song, I was just thinking about the favorite song my Mother loved at the same time, and Lord and behold, that very song I was thinking about came on right after the favorite song my brother loved! This experience just blew my mind and all I was able to say was, thank you Moma and Brotha for being in this mix with me today! This ish is real!

@@africkinamerican PBD doesn't listen to black guests LOL
Only because PBD instead of having compassion for the topic, he right away, switched to a “me too moment” and talked about a song that gave him a similarly feeling, ill timed to say the least, I think if PBD reflects on certain interviews he realized he needs to be in the moment a bit more but he’s hyper fixated on facts and stats, and he’s always taking notes/fixated on the computer which is a slight downfall in 1 on 1 interviews, home team pods.. different story- but I think there’s more to an interview than notes but overall I think it’s a positive attribute for PBD.
