I told him he was wrong because escapism disconnects humans from life and makes them unambitious and nonchalant however, Islam puts you inside of life with the correct mentality so you are ambitiously trying to do the right thing and living your life. For instance, Islam forbids drugs and alcohol so you carry your consciousness and become a functioning member of society. I felt like this video is a certain proof and comparison of it.
