- The most delicious Icelandic holiday is tomorrow!! Bolludagur (bun day) is my fave day of the year here because bakeries all across the country bake thousands of cream buns in various flavors for people to eat.
😍A classic bolla (bun) is a pastry bun filled with cream and jam, and topped with chocolate glaze. However, over the years bakeries have invented amazing variations of these buns. Some of them are fantastic masterpieces that explode with flavor.
👩🏾🍳I went to four different bakeries to pick up vegan/plant-based cream buns and they are below. I wanted to go to more but I only had a limited amount of time and space in my stomach. After sampling 12 cream buns, I can say that I’ve gotten my fill of bollur for the year. 😂

❤️ GK Bakarí and Passion Reykjavik had my favorite bollur this year.
👌🏾This is a must-try food in Iceland if you are visiting the weekend or Monday before Lent in Iceland because they are unavailable any other time of year.

What interesting pastries! They looked delicious. In my neck of the woods, we have paczki (pronounced punch key ) Polish bismarks for Mardi Gras. I have my order in for Tues. morning. I admit I need no excuse to indulge. 🥳

The vegan cream is whipped oat cream. I assume the cheesecake is from vegan cheese and sugar. Not exactly sure of the recipes.

What's the cream filling? Is it egg cream? Whipped cream? Coconut cream for you?
It’s oat cream for the vegan ones and usually whipped diary cream for the regular ones. 😊

Is Bolludagur (bun day) because of Rose Monday and Violet Tuesday celebrated before Lent begins on Valentine's Day/Ash Wednesday?
Yes. Bolludagur is on Monday and Sprengidagur is on Tuesday.
Hi Jewels; may I respectfully ask why you're vegan, and for how long (I've been subscribed for a few years now and know you as always being vegan from that time). A couple of years ago I ordered one of your Icelandic treats box, not sure if that was vegan or not. Thanks!
I am plant based/vegan because my body likes it, so it’s been fairly easy for me to continue with it. All the food the box was vegan. 😊

@@AllThingsIceland 😂😂😂 Those Iceland pastries looks delicious with fresh whipped cream. I personally couldn't eat so much. Maybe if they were cinnamon rolls or buns without any icing though. I am not a lover of sweet things.
