Currently working on getting my new website up and running which will have all the recipes detailed for those who want them!! I really appreciate your patience, I am a team of 1 so I do everything myself which means things are a little slower on my side! But I promise it's coming very very soon!
Thanks for your great content
No rush, looking forward to it, but with the videos is already amazing! Will always prefer to wait than seeing someone stressed 🥰
Can’t wait for the cracker recipe. I’m dying to try it!
Oh yes, that would be great! I'd like to make the focaccia (albeit with spelt flour) and those tasty looking crackers (also with spelt flour).
No rush at all but omg I'm so excited!!! Everything you make just looks so good!!!
Weird request, but is there a way you could talk more about how long foods last in your fridge? (Chickpeas, veggies, prepared foods, breads, etc.) Especially when you talk about recipes! It continues to be my biggest source of food waste and the internet gives tips about general categories but I always find myself getting confused and tossing food out of fear I’ll get sick
for food preservation:
- if it’s cooked : it has to be eaten in 2-3 days!
- when the fruits or vegetables have been washed : in 3 days (that’s why it’s better to wash them just before cooking! and for greens and lettuce, to remove any possible bugs, you can briefly wash it out in the water, remove the dirt etc so there are no bugs in your fridge, but the big cleanse should always be before eating it)
- if the food is still fresh and uncooked, it can be up to 7-8 days BUT if something is soggy, weird looking (taste, color, smell) it means it turned bad so, it shouldn’t be eaten, otherwise big risks of food poisoning or bellyache… (even if a very small part is moldy, it should still be thrown away as removing the moldy part away doesn’t mean it is safe to eat, because molds have grown inside the food anyway.)
- if you prepared a large amount of food/meals, meaning it’s cleaned, seasoned, cooked etc (let’s say more than 3 portions, and you don’t want to eat the same meal in a row), the safest option is to put it in the freezer right away instead of letting it rest in the fridge for a couple of days before eating it because microorganisms would already have grown into the food.
- for plantbased milk (homemade or not) when it’s open: in 3 days
- for bread : it can last weeks (2 max?) but the safest option, again, is to freeze a portion of it!
@@kim-mr7oh I have for sure eaten pasta up for 7 days after it was cooked. But this is what I mean about inconsistencies-- my dad swears by a 5-7 day rule for all cooked meats and pastas. Honestly wish cookbooks included a "we tested this for 5 days in the fridge afterwards, this is when it goes off" portion of the recipe
@@ellisisland6490 what i gave here are the WHO recommendations! if it’s cooked it should always be 3 days max! a
(french) virologist i follow shared those recommendations as well ! but i understand we should be informed better as it’s about our health and preventing food poisoning.
Honestly I just follow my sense, first see if it looks normal, next smell it, then taste a bit. If it’s off you can usually tell cause you know what they are supposed to look/smell/taste like. And even if it’s bad a little taste won’t kill you. Obviously this only applies to vegan food, I used to have more strict rules for meat and dairy cause those go bad much faster and the food borne illnesses can be much worse
@@kim-mr7oh oh wow thank you for telling me! Guess I have info to tell my dad lol
Not so much food prep, but cut prep helps me a ton. Having cut veggies and onions in the fridge is often the reason why I have a healthy dinner when I'm stressed/back from work/etc, over an unhealthy one. I am not cutting anything when it's dinner time and I'm hungry. So cutting everything in advance for a few days is the best option for me!
That's what I'll do. Pick out recipes based on sales/availability/things I need to use up, prep everything, and then use and cook throughout the week. It's called batch prepping, and it's been a HUGE time and money saver!
Very brave and bold, Immy… making a tomato-based sauce while wearing a white shirt… this is very brave and bold, indeed!! Fellow sweet potato lovin’ gal here, and WoW, that sweet potato was a beauty!! Also, I’m a food prep gal over meal prep. I think food prep is quite versatile. Ⓜary💕
I'm glad that you're making-long format videos again, they are the best!
I would like to know the recipe for those crakers, they look scrumptious 😋
I would also really love the cracker recipe. I’ve not seen anything like them before.
@@cathyann9852 me too cracker recipe and video!
food prep is the way forward. so good to mix and match.
Totally agree!
I’d love to food prep, as food tends to be a source of stress for us - the fact that we always have to think what we are going to eat, every single time. But it’s hard to take the time to plan ahead of time, and the best way to store and combine.
I’m a much more relaxed eater so I can just put some veggies and beans together while my husband needs to have a proper meal. He’s French, I guess that’s why. However, he is also an anxious person so anything sitting on the fridge for longer than two days will also be a source of stress, and we can’t eat the same thing two meals in a row 🥲
I think food prep versus meal prep is an ADHDers friend. I like healthy consistency but find I get very bored quickly and struggle to have any appetite. So having everything prepped and being able to combine any meal I fancy is definitely a must.
As an aside for your dressing I recently got some Norpro 11 Ounce Glass Salad Dressing Shaker/Maker with Recipes which ironically I got imported to the UK from the US. This would be great for your dressing if you are trying to get away from plastic. Plus recipe ideas on the side of the bottles.
Ooooh thanks so much for the idea, will definitely add this to my list of potential things I need!
Thank you for the heads up
I really need to do more of this! Every time I watch your videos I am reminded how good REAL food is instead of these quick alternatives that aren’t great and not good for me. Everything you make just makes me hungry! It’s simple, but it’s perfection.
be kind to yourself lovely, sometimes we need convenience ❤️ and Immy would be the first person to point out she's lucky to do this as her job I'm sure, start small and fit it in with your routine and how many spoons you've got that day!
I have found that freezing the tofu when it is intended for a taco meat or chili type of dish gives a better texture. Freeze, thaw, squeeze the water out and either crumble or shred. It looks like a sponge and it soaks up and holds whatever sauce it is in.
That is so much food. It all looks delicious. Does it all get eaten by two people in a week?
I prefer food prep instead of meal prep, just like you. I tend to never crave the specific meals I have meal prepped, and want to have the freedom to adjust it to my mood of the moment. I really like to see what you are prepping to get some inspiration, especially nice to see that you combine things in a different way. What kind of jar do you use for fermenting the pickles? Would like to try that out as well!
Hey Immy, I admire the way you creatively layered all the various ingredients from your food prep workbee into a delicious looking dish. You really are a “Cheffy Chef” to me, Immy!!👩🏻🍳 Also, I’ve got my ear tuned into your next pickle making sesh…. I’m waiting to hear, once again, that famous “I Wanna Be a Pickle Song”… that was the best!! TYSM for another creative and inspiring video!! Ⓜary💕
We are a family of 5 adult sized humans so I do a combination of the two. I like to make 1 dinner, 1 lunch, and ingredient prep as much as possible. I cannot donit all in one day so i do another, smaller one mid week and thats when i will also make pancakes or waffles or granola for breakfasts and 1 muffin or loaf recipe for aome snacks. So i really enjoyed your video today.
Aaah. Smart. I may split up my food prep as cleaning up after a trip to the grocery store can make me grumpy 🤣
Tapping the pressure cooker like it’s a bomb that’s about to explode 😂😂
I recently learned that instead of pressing it, you can dunke the tofu in a hot bath with salty water and it can be crispier and tastier that way. It works because of the osmosis. 🙂
The pickle thing is so interesting! I'm Eastern European and over here, we don't really have a specific word for pickles because we make a distinction between pickled (kyslé - literally "sour") and fermented (kvasené) cucumbers (or any other vegetable, actually).
As for meal prep vs food prep, I agree with you, for me preparing meal components like this makes way more sense, but on weeks when I go to the office, I do prep full lunches so I can just grab a box/jar in the morning and go. Overall, though, meal prep is definitely the way to go! I also love having meals in the freezer for situations like last week, when my friend got the flu and I didn't have to worry, I just pulled two containers of minestone, a bag of veggie dumplings, a container of pasta sauce and a bag of chickpea burger patties from the freezer and suddenly I had a variety of home-made food to bring her without needing to take the time and effort to shop and cook.
I know you share a lot of information in these food prep videos already, but it would be nice to see a 'guide to food prepping' type video from you, just to have everything in one place to easily reference back to. I've been wanting to make it a habit to meal/food prep every week so that would be really helpful for me!
I loved this food prep video. Do them more, please.
Thanks for sharing those period related insides! I find myself in the exact same situation every month and will definitely try to prep some more nurturing dishes for this special time of the month from now on. All the best to you.
Loved the food prep! So many great ideas! I was just diagnosed with PCOS so I’m trying to prioritise protein and whole foods. I’m going to make a lot of these recipes. Looking forward to the next video as always. ❤
Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you're doing ok and find these ideas helpful!1
Really love the food prep videos! It would be super helpful to have a pdf or some written reference for your recipies!
I like to Food Prep and Meal Prep one new recipe each week. I agree you can build a meal so easily and quickly with stuff prepped and ready to go 👍
I pre-ordered your book! I discovered you recently and am so inspired. I love how intentional, beautiful, confident, and passionate you and your videos are. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!
Ah thank you so so much for the support I really appreciate it !! xx
I like both meal and food prep! It really depends on how busy I am when I have to prep. I personally don't mind eating the same thing multiple days in a row and value having meals grab and go ready. Though lately I have only had time to food prep and it's been great!
Your focaccia looks sooo good 🤤
I'm a huge meal prep fan; I can eat the same thing multiple days in a row if it's good. My husband gets bored of things really quickly, unless it's something he's *obsessed* with, and even then he won't want it for longer than 3 or 4 days at a time; so I've learned how to food prep and also meal prep smaller amounts that we can swap between through the week. Sometimes I do a lazy week where the recipes are so easy I can cook a couple times during the week after work with no issue; and other times I go all out with an entire menu lol It's about balance and finding what works best for you (and any others you cook for in your household) 😄
Love these type of videos, it's exactly what I do every Sunday! I've preordered your book and can't wait to read it, good luck with it xoxo. I always do a big tray of roasted veggies so I have a wide range of cooked and raw veggies each week.
Ah yay thank you so much !!
Love a mix of both food prep and meal prep! You're doing great, and I cant wait for your book to arrive :)
This video is such a happy haven . Thank you 😊🤗♥️♥️🌹
I do meal prep. When I get home from work, I cannot be bothered to make a decision on what to eat. If nothing is ready to go, I make a PB sandwich. I’d love to see some breakfast ideas. I struggle with eating enough in the morning
hey Emi thank you very much for the video. I really love that direction you and your channel are going right now and watching every video that comes out.
As for what I'd love to see in another video about food prepping is how to start as a beginner. Watching the video I felt a bit overwhelmed as to where to start and what categories of food to keep in mind when structuring a thought out meal/food prep for the week. and maybe some beginner friendly recipe ideas that aren't too intimidating might be a good idea. Basically a beginner's guide to food prep is what I am thinking of and would love to see when you would make a video about it. Obviously no pressure that's not what you feel like doing right now.
Or like what Tools one really needs when starting preserving foods, so that one doesnt buy a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff.
Food prep / Batch prep has been a habit I've been working on. I think I need to be better about it, like you, and take notes. I'm trying to figure out go-to meals that I can swap out for seasons, needs, events, etc.. Just things I know we love, aren't complicated, and the components work together. I feel like I"m working too hard to figure out a plan and then make ALL the components. As someone with health issues, and flare ups that knock me out for a day or whole week, this way of preparation can be the difference between me eating a meal and eating something crappy (if at all) due to exhaustion. I would love to see more of these videos!
Grated tofu is awesome. My suggestion would be to season, then bake it. Creates a more interesting texture, that wont break down as easily when mixed. Thanks for the inspiration ☺️
I loved this video, just seeing all your creative recipes and the many options for dishes.. waiting for you to write a cookbook! All the best!
I’m super into food prep. Way more realistic to keep up as a habit as opposed to meal prep. Loving this type of video!
I've been batch prepping for several years. It becomes second nature after a while but I remember being exhausted when I was starting out. It's mental work. I hope you do cheese!
Better than Bouillon is one of the greatest things. So much concentrated product that takes up no space, lasts for basically forever, and completely recyclable. Plus it's the best price and tastes better than boxed or even my own home made veggie broth.
Your food prep videos are so inspiring and very realistic. I agree that prepping food and not individual meals feels less daunting and more approachable for people who don't enjoy the same thing every single day.
Shredded tofu makes amazing "crab salad" sandwiches!
Better Than Bouillon No Chicken base totally changed the game for me
I'm 100% team Food Prep! Lovely video as always! I'm always interested in trying to "sneak" vegetables in, since both my fiance and I are very texture-oriented people (and cooked veggies are on our NO list). We want to be eating more plant-based but are also fighting ourselves because of that texture issue. We're starting a slow plant-based journey by cutting out red meats, but still early in those steps!
Definitely blending veggies into pasta sauces, curries etc can be super helpful!
Wow that's so true about salad dressing! I've been avoiding making a green salad for ages...i like my usual salad dressing but i didn't realise that i needed a change... I'll try yours which looks delicious (And absolutely yes about the chips)
Hello, I loved the video, I always find it interesting how you have access to those items for your own preservation/Canning like that jar and adapters for fermenting pickles.
It's something very common in american culture, at least I follow several channels like this. Here it is not something seen or spoken
Kisses from Portugal
As someone who is trying to eat more plant base and also feed a family. This was really good. I don’t like the idea of meal prep food prep sounds a little bit more easy and I’m someone who changes my mind about what I fancy. The only thing I do find is the English fridges are really small I think I might have to invest in some better containers I’m really trying to work out what to do with tofu because I’m also really trying to up my protein, I’ve seen loads of stuff about the benefits of fermented food, thats something else I’d like to try but one step at a time! I think I’ll start small, quinoa, chickpeas, sweet potato, sounds simple .Thank you
This was lovely, thank you for sharing!
This video was so captivating! I appreciate your thoroughness:)
Thank you so much!
Your food prep videos is what got me hooked in the first place, all the way back in 2020:) Love them, always want more of them!
My apartment only came with a mini fridge, so food prep is essential for making all my food actually fit in there. I hate doing it, because my kitchen is tiny and has no counter space (my cutting board lives on top of my mini fridge and so does my electric kettle and coffee-making supplies) but it is ultimately invaluable to me.
I love love SUPER love these food prep videos!! I totally agree with the idea of prepping ingredients that you can then use in different ways during the week. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Love the video! I'm really interested in fermented food at the moment, cause of its impact on our microbiome and therefore mood, immunesystem... Thank you for trying out so many things! Makes it easier to start new things as well! :)
Definitely team food prep! And I love the food prep videos!! I used to start meal prepping years ago, but I got bored with it. I started food prepping instead at some point and it's so fun! Always have food at home, but I can still put some creativity into my meals and switch it up. And I love to get inspiration from others too! Like the cashew cream, I'm 100% making that on the weekend 😊
I meal and food prep. Like I make a chili or black beans and use them as is with rice or in a bowl or add water and make a soup or put in a wrap. This week I made a cheese sauce and pasta and mixed it with the chili😊
For negative feelings before your period you can try taking a vitamin B complex and Omega 3 (vegan when made from algae) - I have been having barely any pms since I started this and it is often recommended :)
Love this so much! Food prep all the way!!! Everything looked so delicious. Love all your content!❤
I would buy a cookbook from you in a heartbeat, everything looks delicious and easy !
I do prefer food prep too! And truly love this kind of videos ❤
Love your food prep vlogs. Love seeing you cook up yummy food. Thank you from Queensland , Australia.
These are my favourite kinds of videos!
I hadn't considered the difference between meal & food prep but it makes a lot of sense and I'm absolutely going to suggest doing food prep to my housemate who hates meal prep because she doesn't like eating the same thing lots & often also doesn't want what she's planned to have.
I do not food prep but meal prep because I have to take breakfast and lunch to work with me and when I get back I have a dinner ready too
I really enjoyed this video!
Food prep v meal prep!! Wow never thought about it that way and love it. Also realise I do that to a certain degree. It feels organised but not restrictive. And I do love these videos!
It would be really nice if you could make a video on how to store food (like salad, carrots etc.) 😅 we always struggel to eat things like that fast enough
these are always my favorite videos
ah thank you so much for the feedback! I'm going to try and make at least 2 of these a month from now on xx
I have really enjoyed thus video, your food looks so beautiful and I found it really comforting and motivating to watch. ❤
Love this video!! Your food prep is inspiring 💞
Thanks for showing ideas on how to put the components together! and for reminding me of prepping sauces, I always forget :D
Such an awesome video! Thanks for the effort, super helpful :)
wonderful ideas!
Your tempeh diy, tips and tricks. Pretty please 🙏🏻 💕
Full Tempeh tutorial video coming very very soon!
@@SustainablyVegan 👏🏻😍
I love the idea of food prep over meal prep. But I ususally struggle with ideas. All 4 people in my family hardly have the same tastes in food. And two of us are more likely to be able to eat whatever, but the little ones are very complicated to feed sometimes, lol...
I would love if you shared more detailed recipes! I am a recipe lady and can't cook without one and so many of these things look so yummy and I would love to make them.
I don't know if you would be willing to share your partner's secret special dressing recipe - but oh my goodness would I love if you did!
If you are looking for video ideas I would jump at the chance to watch a "Cooking tofu, everything you need to know, X recipes" type of video. I want to be eating more tofu but I have never made delicious tofu at home even though it is so so good at restaurants.
This was a beautifully created video. Thank you for all your hard work - it really shows. For me, combinations of things with food prep would be really helpful. I’m perfectly fine with eating the same thing everyday, but I like the concept of food prep and would like to explore it.
Amazing foods ❤️❤️
Love this. I need to do it more. I have 3 kids so cooking for 5 people is quite a challenge sometimes. I do love it but prepping something works even better I think
I have some questions 🤓
1. How does your food stay so fresh?! (If it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind for me)
2. How often do you grocery shop? I’m very used to 1 big haul every month but I find that more wasteful since food goes bad.
3. I’m anemic and more protein/iron rich meals would help me out 🎉
A good idea is always to do one big shop a month and get all the non perishable items, and then once a week go to a farmers market or a closer grocery store to get veggies and fruits. It works for me, not much waste that way
Wonderful food prep e I loved this a lot. Such great recipes. Thanks for the inspiration
Love this kind of video! I love food prep AND meal prep, but my biggest struggle is actually meal planning. The cooking part has become muscle memory at this point for the handful or rotating meals we eat, though even that took a while considering I was not blessed with crunchy parents nor a healthy upbringing. I find myself wanting to try new things but becoming overwhelmed at bringing it all together. We are well fed by home-cooked plant-based (+90% whole/unprocessed) meals, but I crave seasonal diversity.
I cook massive batches of things probably every day or every other day, storing the leftovers to be used as lunches or lazy dinner nights for my husband and I. Things like a liter of homemade soy/sesame milk, 5 lbs baked potatoes, 2 lbs of whole wheat pasta with either a jarred red sauce or homemade cashew sauce (+ sauteed onion, celery, carrot, garlic, baby spinach or chopped broccoli, maybe some mushrooms and olives), 3 blocks of frozen/thawed and baked tofu, massive amounts of lentils/chickpeas/pinto beans/black beans/black eyed peas and brown rice/quinoa/rye combined in different flavor profiles (mostly Latin, Italian, Indian, or pan-Asian). There's also a lovely "cheezy" sauce I like to make from carrots + potatoes + onions + nutritional yeast + olive oil + optional cayenne or jalapeno. A weekly batch of granola bars for my husband plus either a whole-grain (oats or WW) fruit or maple-sweetened quickbread/muffins, or black bean brownies for dessert. I love my Instant Pot, Vitamix, and SoyaJoy.
Congratulations! I’m so excited for your book. I’ve been watching your videos for years. What tofu press is this please? I would like to find the best quality press possible from my buy nothing or freecycle group. Thank you.
Good afternoon
Would love some of these recipes !
I love videos like this! I also just pre-ordered your book 😊 I always get a sweet potato or two in my veg box and I struggle with using them - but I recently discovered Ottolenghi’s sweet potato cakes and I’ve been having them for breakfast or lunch.
Omg thank you so much for the support, it means so much!! I love Ottolenghi's recipes so much!
Definitely more food prep instead of meal prep! Also, did I miss it or how did you flavour your prepped tofu? Also, if you're looking for an amazing salad dressing recipe, try your basic tahini dressing (tahini, bit of miso, dijon mustard, lime or lemon juice, garlic, onion powder, water) and add fresh basil or fresh cilantro or sriracha. Freakin' awesome on everything... OK... maybe not muesli... ; p Another tip: if you're going to keep a few different sauces in the fridge, use a variety of bases like cashews, tahini/sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, silken tofu, etc. to vary the nutrition as well.
Great video like always!
Thank youuu
Love the video Immy! One thing I would be interested to know is your decision process regarding what to make. I would love to do more food prep as opposed to meal prep but I worry that I would end up either wasting loads or just eating the same thing a million times. And how do you choose the "extras" like having fresh salads, veggies, wraps on hand etc?
I certainly prefer food prep over meal prep. However, I don't fancy spending 2+ hours in a kitchen at any given time, so I tend to break down food prep into small chunks throughout the week. E.g. I made a nacho sauce last Saturday for a snack, then on Wednesday I only had time to press tofu, but not to cook it. I cooked it on Thursday. And on Sunday I cooked beans in instant pot. On a less busy week I'd be able to do it all in one go on Sunday.
I would love to try your focaccia recipe
I am interested to understand the "mind work" between figuring out what you are planning to eat during the week or what things go together and why AND the actual making of them. To me the problem of meal prep is that, in my mind, it's supposed to be prep to specific recipes, otherwise how will I combine them to make different meals? So I am interested to see how you go from point A to point B.
I am interested in the fermented pickles!
Love the video as always That crunch wrap looks epic, might have to try that!! Also, I love your jewellery - where is your necklace from? Have a good week :)
Ah thank you so much! My necklace is from ByGlaze (based in the UK)
How long did that amount of food prep take you? I get overwhelmed when I try to do that much at once. I have a pretty good handle on day to day cooking, as long as I have ingredients around, and I have a sort of standard rotation with variations. But there are times when it would make life much easier to do a big food prep day like that.
Thanks so much for this. Inspiring and definitely motivating. Do you put nooch in your cashew dressings? I usually do. I made a pesto sometimes with any old herbs hanging around in the fridge, my fridge raid drizzle. All I can say is, good job! And looking forward to the next one already👌
Oh that's a great idea! I didn't for this one because I wanted to make more of crema for Mexican inspired meals, but I might next time!!
Going to sit and watch it all again👌😉
hey sista love you glass storageware
I also made multiple Crunchwraps this week lol
heyy i think your video is amazing one thing i do struggle with is that i dont always really know what you re adding because it is not always given or typed so yeah i hope that is a good recention but surely its amazing to see how the food prep is working and stuff real good
your videos are so calming, what marker pen is that you write on your tubs with?
I like those videos, they are always so inspiring
❤️
Yes! A food prep episode! It’s really needed over here, I’m personally in a food rut. ✌️ hope you’re well!
I think I was in a food rut too - so I've really been trying to experiment with new recipes, flavours etc! Definitely going to find new ideas for the next few videos too!
Rainbow plant life has a quinoa cooking technique if putting it in the oven roasting it, texture is so much better, even my quinoa hating bf eats it.
Love your CZcams vlogs. Can you share the recipes?
Hello there, I am new to your channel. May I ask you sliced some red onion and put it in a jar. What was the liquid you poured over the top? And if it was to preserve the onion was it placed in the fridge and how long does it last?
Warmest wishes 😊
I love your food prep videos they would be incredibly helpful for me and look so delicious but i struggle making them. Would it be possible for you to link or reference the original recipes you used . Cheers ❤
