The outer ring (below the front element) of my Copal #3 shutter has been sealed with a clear thread-lock substance. Have you run into this and will the ring release with hard turning? It didn't come loose on initial attempts with my spanner wrench-I may have to get the AMF tool you're using. I don't want to damage it or distort the holes the spanner fits in....
My Copal 3 just closes. As in closes at the fastest speed, it snaps closed. Just as if the retaining mechanism does not exist. (Ofcourse it is there, but maybe something is sprung or I dont know.) Any ideas? Also possible I use it wrong (although I dont think), had no other Copal until now. Manual somewhere to find?

Well, putting on new oil do not really solve the problem. The real thing to do is to take out the slow gear and clean it with solvent like Lighter Fluid or Isopropylalcohol 99%,. And then do your lubricating with SMALL drops of fine sewing machine oil on the axel's, then put it back again in the shutter, and then do the 1 sec. adjustment... That's it.. I think the Graflex has a Compur shutter, or maybe a Copal, when i come across one, i will find out.
zawzero Linhof makes the best cameras for working professionals. You either can afford one or your going hate it because you wish you had one but your ass is dead broke to afford one..!!!!

It's called "Atlantic Oil" but it will work fine with other thin sewing machine oil, and just lube the axle end only!
