Great overview! You pretty much nailed it and mentioned all the key artists in this sub-genre of Hip Hop! Honorable mention goes to artists like Saafir, De La Soul, & Digable Planets, Camp Lo, Mystik Journeymen, Zion I, Planet Asia, A Tribe Called Quest, UMC's, & The Dream Warriors.

Crazy you didnt mention the work of Ade Hakim and Standing on the Corner, as well as MIKE, who were the inspiration for Some Rap Songs. Their influence is understated bc they were earls sound before earl had that sound if you get what i mean. Also Ramellzee and Basquiat started abstract hip hop back in the early early 80s w Beat Bop. Really weird that you dont mention Lil B the Basedgod. But then again, most people dont know that he also has that in his repertoir. He dropped a jazzy abstract Hip Hop album just last year. In the early 10s he paved the way not only for todays main stream artists, but also for alot of underground, abstract, even horrorcore artists. I think of Cartier God, Psilo Sage for example. He even produced a track for Del the Funky Homosapien also last year. His alternative rap masterpiece "Age of Information" has to be one of this sub genres classics.
