Thank you for sharing new spots in Chinatown to eat and drink. I was going to give up on going to Chinatown, because my favorites were not good anymore. When I go to NYC I will check out these spots!!
We love Spongies & Sugarcane Daddy! Best reviewed shops in Chinatown for a reason đđ
Thanks for joining me guys!
You have the greatest videos! I am a big supporter of the Barr movement!!!
The restaurants must love this publicity. Great video thumbs up subscriber.
Your co-hosts are excellent and so is Fernando.
Good food, prices, staff and cleanliness are all important.
Oh man, I can eat these food every day and not get tired!
đđđđ€đ»
Wow! All the spots look so good, all the staff and owners were super friendly, and the prices are unbeatable! Definitely going to have to check these spots out when I got to NYC!
Wowâ„ïžI luv them,and I luv Chinatown food.Everything looks amazingđ
I need to eat at some of these spots! Less talking, more eating đ
Gee thanks đčđč
Iâve been to all these spots except spring cafe and sugar daddy. i need to try these.
Spongies has officially been pinned on Google maps. That looked amazing. The sugarcane place looks intriguing too. Thanks as always Jon
You're very welcome.
Love the neighborhood visits to showcase the restaurants with different cuisines .
Excellent food video as always Jon. You nail it every time. Love the style. You always seem to pair up well with other food YouTubbers that you choose to do some of your food videos with. Seem nice people. Food looked decent.
Love Chinatown food tours
Now Iâm happy!!! The Bing Buzz with my OG John Barr!! With all new delicious places to add to my NYC itinerary!!! Thank you again for working so hard to provide this great entertaining content!! I appreciate you all so much!!!
Enjoy!
Most Asian restaurants in NYC will always hire Mexicans because they have a good reputation of working hard in the kitchen and being dependable.
My friend nails it again, itâs funny because I was wondering about great Chinese restaurants in NYC the other day. Always a pleasure to watch your videos, entertaining and very informative. đ
Thank you for going over to the dark side, vegan is an acquired taste and proud of you for trying and putting those places out there.
When I was a kid I used to hop on the green bus line go from Howard Beach to Jamaica and would always have lunch at this Chinese place whoâs name is lost to me. There specialty was you got a hamburger bun with chow suey on it in place of a burger. It was actually very good. Wonder if any of your followers remember such a place.
Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
Iâm so obsessed looking ahead to try those sponge cakes! Theyâre looking incredibly tasty. Have me part of the culture. đ
Good idea!
Don't they look delicious?
Oh pure plain sugar cane juice so cool and refreshing I love it, there's a place near me where I was getting sugar cane juice but every time I've gone to get it lately they weren't able to get the sugar cane, I would watch them make it just like in your video just put the actual sugar cane stalk in the machine and that's it
Nicely done as always Jon. Your collaboration videos always seem to be one of your best. It's nice to know you can get great food in Chinatown for around $5.00. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching. Please send my best to Adriana. Your friend Mike.
Great collab. I really enjoyed it. I hope you three do it again.
Those rice rolls look so good. Iâve never had it. Minimal ingredients too. Love the low cost. Great reviews + the sugar cane drink place. Iâll have to check that out to. I may need to leave work early to tour these places. I wish I still lived in Manhattan!
Next time, add the extra sauces when you order the rice rolls at Yi Ji Shi Mo, they have sweet sauce, peanut and sriricha, you can also add sesame seed and top that with soy sauce. It'll elevate the flavor a lot more.
We vegetarian/vegans always appreciate seeing new places to try! Thanks for another great vid!
No worries
agreed!
That Yi Ji Shi Mo noodle place looks amazing! I'm amazed at how quickly they were slicing up all the food on the prep area.
Great to see that Spring Cafe has lots of vegan options!
That Sugarcane drink looks amazing, too!
your videos are really helpfull! We are hopefully going to NYC next year :)
Keep it up
thank you for the vegan rec! I am mostly plant-based but I watch your videos for my hubby who eats meat :) we love restaurants that have options for both of us!
Defffff about to try that Sugarcane Daddy spot
I only ate at a few chinatown, Manhattan spots like the Malaysian Singapore beef jerky and two hands Korean corn dogs...both were amazing food options! I will keep the spots you mentioned in mind when I revisit NYC in November
So all the claasics but with 30k monthly store front.
I'm broke as larry and i love watching this stuff, respect
I know you and the wifey got a baby on the way... I wish you so much success! You have always shown my home city with such amplified respect and passion!! Thank you so very much! đ€đ€
As a person lose from New York thereâs no better food than Chinese food itâs way better than any other food especially Shrimp fried rice
Thanks for showing me more restaurants to dine at Jon !
Try the water spinach at New Arping. You will be shocked how delicious it is. Their pea shoots as well. Literally a Chinatown hidden gem.
I love the closed caption wording at the bottom. I nearly choked on my watermelon when they had "bowel" buns typed for the Spring Cafe. đ€Ł
Can you review dim sum places all over New York? Iâm heading there in a week and I have no idea where to go! It would be so fun to see you try different dim sum places:)
Did you find ony good ones?? đŹ
Some Cuban cafes have sugarcane juicers in the Miami area.
Thank you SO much for this video. Am having my holiday in NYC right now. Have (!) to check these places being a foodie đ
Such a cute couple. I love when the Bing Buzz hangs out.
When I was a kid I used to sneak into sugarcane farms and eat them on the spot.
Ming is adorable , love all the food choices yumm
Just got back from NY last week and I wish this video had been up while I was out there. Definitely trying these spots out on my next trip to NY.
Appetizers: Vegetable Dumplings, Steamed Dumplings, Fried Dumplings w/Pork, Roast pork slices, spare ribs, fried wontons w/meat, cheese wontons, shrimp toast, pork egg roll, veggie egg roll, shrimp egg roll, spring rolls, fortune cookies, apple sticks, cheese sticks, fried plantains, french fries, onion rings, chicken gizzards, crab sticks, scallops, fried shrimp, chicken nuggets, etc.

I loved this video!! Coming to NY soon and I will definitely try one of those places!!!
Excellent video/food review/recommendations!
Good to see there is still some good cheap eats in Manhattan Chinatown for my visit in September!
Great video. I've actually watched quite a few of your videos over the years. Not sure I know why it took so long to subscribe. You could not have picked a better couple to join you on this video. Love their personalities and taste in food of course.
You have to go to Ping's. It's legit Cantonese cooking and off the radar for most white people.
Def going to try Spongies Cafe on my next visit! Excellent video.
Chinatown carried me through college when I was living in NYC and poor af. I owe a lot to these store owners
Good Sunday Evening My Friend
You Are Doing A Outstanding Job With The Food Reviews Thank You So Much For The Recommendations Much Love Always Ms British Gray From Tampa Florida Blessings :)
Thank you so much
@@HereBeBarr It's Always My Pleasure
How did I miss this video!
HI!
Sugarcane = caldo de cana in Brazil! đ
Love those places, no better food for the buck.
Thanks Antonio!
I was actually blown away by White Bear in Flushing and I got there within minutes of them closing. I think it was the chili oil or something on it that brought it all together.
Yes for sure, love that place.
Howâs Monkeypox? I have my trip to NYC at the end of August but debating if I should still go
Going for my first time in December, cant wait.
Yo. Hong kong style sponge cakes are #1 in the world. Nothing i've tasted will ever beat them. They don't get stuck in your throat, they slide. It's great for everyone, kids to seniors, bec it's so soft & moist. It's not cloying, like you eat one & you have a sore throat.
Hong kong style cookies are the bomb if you like crispy, thick cookies. Like the 80s chips ahoy. Or if you know, chinese peanut cookies.
I'm so mad my grandparents did not move to new york. I'm so stuck in a crappy asian country, the philippines. Why????
Yi Ji Shi Mo is awesome. Even though they are closed on Mondays I believe there is a food truck van at the end of the block that also keeps them coming out at a rapid pace. They charge about half that restaurant and the woman only speaks Chinese but I found no dip in Quality.
è°ąè°ąćäș«ïŒthank you for sharingïŒYou are welcome to come to China to experience the food!
Highly appreciate some vegan options! đ
"Mines mushroom so it's actually vegetarian" 06:53 Mushrooms are vegan đ
đ€Ł
How about Thai food in NY
Thank you for another great food vid. I am in mood for bok choy now lol
I love West rice roll king
A wonderful ,fun ,and tasty video!
If you going to comment good or bad about the place please comment it outside the shop. Saying things are cheap in reality is not cheap at all. Everything is freaking expensive in Chinatown. If you call something cheap they will think it is not expensive enough letâs raise the prices more. If you give them too much props they will
Raise their prices. As for the rice roll place it is a small hidden gem. I love this place what you failed to mention about this place is the rice rolls are made from rrice not rice flour mix. So what you are eating is the real rice mix.
I love veg Chinese food, wheat gluten combination, bbq 'pork'..... In my city's Chinatown, it's a favorite place.... The chew is fantastic and the different flavors are alarmingly tasty, consistently so for over 30 years that I've enjoyed...
đ â€ïžđ
*ps, those rice rolls looked gorgeous also, and the spongey place, that's one of the reasons USA is the greatest ever.. Hopes and dreams realized. âšïž
Plain fried rice, fried rice with meat and veggies, white rice, fried noodles.
I miss NY.
So many choices in NY
Here Be Barr-I donât want to spoil your enjoyment of food/drink goodies, but do you think that this would be the appropriate time for you (and your wife?) to get checked for cholesterol and blood sugar levels as you continue your life journey? Many health plans have a provision for an annual physical. Itâs best to catch any issues when you are young! Keep up the inspiring videos and your honest and positive outlook on life!
Not anything like this here in my little SoCal city, just regular Chinese food... BUT (!) as tasty as the rice noodle rolls look it seems like it's all drenched in soy sauce (not that's a bad thing)
Good one
Chinatown has always had the best deals. =)
There's no specific Chinese vegan food since we eat vegs a lot on the daily basis.
Nice Jon đđđđčđčđčđčđčđč
Interesting places to visit. FYI: thereâs more and more Latin American workers in Asian restaurants and businesses, not just because of their work ethics, but because of the China lock downs, foreign Chinese and others Asians had a harder time to come to US so businesses took their workers where they can find them.
lovely lovely great channel. do got something something to say about eatin that raw sugercane. in the countries where this is comon practice most young peeps go thru life without their front teeth and dental health does not get better.
There is this st stand off Lafferty There will be long lines in the morning that sells the best rice dumplings I ever had in my life she sells out by 10 in the morning thus any one knows who iam talking about?
Neighborhood pets dissapearing LOL đđđđđ
MEOW
RUFF RUFF
What is the name or address of the Speakeasy? I am bring 2 of my friends for a tour of lower Manhattan next week. I want to show them a place like that.
It was a joke haha đ I said Imagine . Look up my speakeasy video
None of these are ârestaurantsâ they are all cafes and little drink spots or bakeryâs!!! Would love to see actual sit down restaurants reviews
Hiiii! Iâve been watching your videos lately because Iâll be visiting the city by the end of August. Thank you so much for your great work. Huge fan. I wanted to ask you, should I avoid visiting the city because of the monkeypox outbreak? Writing from Mexico. Once again, many thanks :)
No i wouldnt avoid nyc bc of monkey pox.
@@HereBeBarr thanks!
No more Amazing 66, that is truly sad.
Address does anybody has it
Wished that rice roll place is not on CZcams that much. This owner is raising their prices and you guys freaking said it is cheap and she thinks her prices are too low. Rice rolls should not be at the price it is. By the way $2.75 is a small portion.
Best casual Chinese in nyc flushing
World food mail
Real Sugarcane juice without lemon and ginger squeezed should be a non bailable offense just ask anyone from India where this originated
Do you have pierogi without sour cream? Lol
Keep the videos coming specially Astoria, flushing williamsburg and east village
It's bow not bowel
You wanna try great Chinese food
Go downtown Brooklyn
"No Pork halal kitchen"
4th & Dean
I've walked by there!
I'm coming to NYC for the holiday season. Your vlogs have given me soooo much advice. I was thinking of having a chinese meal for Christmas dinner. Any chance you could do a vlog on places to have Christmas dinner?. It would be great help. Keep up the good work.đ
Sugar cane machine alot safer then pass machines.
Sugarcane you can drink all over south and Mitleid of American on the Streit ist Taste grate en you pay not more than a dolar ok ny es not cheap en any Thing but 7 bucks is ok
Check out that insane plastic lining at the counter wow..
In this video, they say only in NYC, not really, how's about, ATLANTA, HONOLULU, FLORIDA, and CALIFORNIA, many places in the United States as I have traveled. In NYC other than canal street, how's about ELMHURST, and FLUSHING queens and not to many in BROOKLYN very bad, not worth going to. And to make stir fry is not that hard to make. Chinese food can get expensive but you need to know where to go, that's the secret. In Chinatown they want 16
50 for a half of PEKING DUCK, no way I rather make it myself, not hard but you need a lot of things to make it. Even CHAR SIU,they want big money, no way.
