Too right, we're here for him in every way we can be. He deserves it for what he's given the world, if the collective care to look and listen.
It’s really crazy what kind of widely varied musical talent he’s got. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone that does different genres, but actually does each impeccably. Like, we’ve seen rappers try to sing and singers try to rap, and sometimes they just squeak by to pull it off. But usually that’s based on their already established fame and popularity, they’re not nearly as convincing as this. This guy is the real deal. He’s a Musician, with a capital M, can’t box him in with a genre. Writer, composer, producer, singer, rapper, guitarist, beat boxer, spoken word, and an actor who embodies every character he writes about. I’m in awe and can’t wait for what else he graces us all with.
Plan B is the only one who plays guitar, raps and sings as well as #Ren in my humble opinion, Plan B is 6 years older than Ren at 39yrs old. One of my favourite rappers/storytellers.
Thinking Ren might be into Plan B too, he refers to him in #Hi Ren, not a lot of people seem to have heard of Plan B, but they need to give 'ill manors' and 'Who Needs Action When You Got Words' a go 🔥

Ren and his film buddy Samuel are a dynamic duo. It’s so helpful as an independent artist, but the low-budget videos are so captivating. He’s found a formula that works. Ren might be able to stay mostly independent but get a distribution deal - or like you said, sign to a label that’s run by an actual artist. Either way, if his health continues to improve, he will be in the driver’s seat in terms of negotiations. I hope he doesn’t go back to Sony though 😒
And yes, he lost almost a decade of his life because of the misdiagnosis and untreated Lyme disease 😿 They tried to tell him it was all psychosomatic, in his head 😒 I believe he finally found someone in Brussels that diagnosed it, but so much damage had been done to his body and his mind. It took 2 stem cell transplants to give him a chance to regain his health. He’s in Alberta Canada getting treatment with a specialist. He shares a lot of updates and the Ren community has been very supportive. We need artists like him, so if he needs help, we will be there for him. I think it’s just a matter of time that he will completely blow up.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding of Lymes disease is that, if left untreated for long enough, it starts to eat away at your body, including your brain. REN has used imagery in his songs of his brain being on fire (stood in the flames that cremated my brain, etc.)
Yep, if not caught in the early stages it is generally considered to be incurable.
The problem for some people is that they can catch the disease and not know it for years because it can remain symptomless.
Even when it does become symptomatic it Mimics many other diseases which is why it is sometimes called the great pretender.
If you know or see that you’ve been bitten by a tick the best thing to do is take a course of anti-biotics immediately.
This can kill the disease in its infancy in about 70% of people but in about 30%, even this does nothing and the disease just progresses. It’s a terrible thing.
He was also misdiagnosed taking medication he didn’t necessarily need to take

Ren is just something else. He is a beast when he raps, but then he’s like “I’m also just gonna kill it with singing, producing, playing multiple instruments etc.”. Man has no chill 😅 And he does everything with such authenticity and thoughtfulness. Everything always feel so intentional. Every little word and sound.

You need to listen to the acoustic (remix) version of Genisis. The "mantra" hook is completely different. An entirely different take on the same song, evoking a new feeling. Ren is a master of using all interpretations of a word or saying. Masterful breakdown as always. Thank you for this this morning.
the nanananninini part is his voice distorted he explained, he almost always puts his voice in the beat mix I think.
It needs to be said- REN as a Beat Master is absolutely nasty; in addition to his other, many talents.
Camera ops, typically, have an assistant that is in charge of making sure they don't trip while walking backwards. But knowing the team Ren works with, maybe not.
He does his own beats. The misdiagnosed for 7 years. Now trying to repair damage done. Still has brain fog,shooting pain in legs and feet, fatigue , sometimes stutters ....

Actually Sony didn’t just drop him, Ren says he had to drop out because that was when he went into some of his worse mental issues and simply couldn’t produce works at that time. He’s still respectful of the man representing Sony and Sony itself. No one’s fault, just tragic timing. I’m thankful things are getting better for him professionally, and I’m still praying for his health recovery.
To me, it sounds like the percussion sound at the start of the video you talk about is a sample of the chair opening sound from his song Chalk Outlines. This feels like something Ren would do and is just awesome if it is.

License to Kill was itself a Bond movie which did NOT in fact star Sean Connery. However, 007 and his counterpart characters (such as 008) are often referenced in the various movies and games as having a "license to kill", apparently from the government itself seemingly removing ROE or something like that for these special agents.
So I don't think he was directly referencing the specific movie by that name but the idea itself from the canon.
Undiagnosed Lyme disease can become very serious. Once Lyme is in your body is will continuously spread throughout the body. Once you get to stage 3 Lyme disease it can cause major neurological problems. That’s why he has the “sometimes your nerves are fried by neuropathy” bar in there.
Love this song, the Drum&Bass version he released hits a little better for me though but Ren is the goat.
"Noah was late for the Ark" The flood and Noah's story is from the Book of Genesis- as well as all the doubles and whatnot.

That sound you're hearing that you think is a drum is actually just the door opening, and then a few lines later, closing again, because the original track is recorded live during the 1-take shot.
No. This is a 1 take video shoot lipsynching to his own track. The song is not actually being performed live in this case.
He has to use a special machine that ties to his scalp to rewire his neural pathways he made a video of a day in his life where he is using the machine at the hospital and explaining what it does,
I may not know a whole lot about Rap but I am amazed every time I listen to Ren. He just makes sense to me. Of course, Anthony Ray's appreciation for Ren's treatment of the Genre and his breakdown helps as well. Thank you, Anthony, great reaction!

The "drum sound" is an audio clip of the firing of a bullet that Ren thought sounded cool. Though he did alter it a bit. Additionally, Sean Connery wasn't in License to Kill, despite the James Bond reference.
At 6:10 the sound sounds like a door closing in the stairwell he was walking through.

Ren was misdiagnosed a decade ago by doctors. He actually had Lime Disease but they thought his mind was playing tricks and gave him strong drugs and the Lime disease ran amuck for 7-8 years. He is currently in canada receiving treatment to undo all the damage done.

There's symbolism in the way he threw down the chip with a frustrated grunt and left the food. His medical problems mean he's on a very restricted diet and wouldn't be able to eat that kind of thing.

@@rapcatalog166 He explained it in a stream, they did not have the stabilizer eq for the video, they shot the video, took it home, had a look and were disappointed initially but they did not have time or suitable weather for a reshoot. Then Ren said they realized it gave it a different vibe (like you are drunk or under the influence I assume) and I agree, to an uneducated eye, it looks like it was done on purpose, as a stylistic choice and it works :)
Said a similar thing about Power, someone asked if Ren had flu while recording it and he said yes and noticed that he sounded nasal but liked and used it anyway. Those kind of imperfections may give a song a character sometimes I guess?
