I'm no painter, but that's a hell of a paint job.
I am and yes it is!!
Great job.
Spraying a nice paint job isn’t easy regardless of what type of paint you’re laying down. No orange peel is a huge accomplishment in a first paint job. The color is perfect, you really made a great choice. Love the video, love your channel, appreciate you and how much enjoyment you give us by sharing your projects
Painting a car samurai way - when every step is brought to perfection (and I mean all the prep work). A+ paintjob 🧐
As a full time painter, id like to say you did an amazing job!! And not just for a first time paint job, even if this was you 100th paint job, you did awesome! Layed it down really wet and flat. You deserve to toot your own horn on this one. Even if it had pearl or metalics, the way you moved in the booth and your consistent overlap, you would have layed down a killer paint job regardless of colour!
Very, very nice job Sarah👏👏👏
Looks great!
You are always knocking yourself out to create content for us 😊 thanks to the nth degree 🙏 much respect ✊
Could we just appreciate here the double labor; doing a paint job, while at the same time doing kickass videography? For our enjoyment, and we appreciate it!
Sarah, you did an AMAZING job on the body and paint. As a fellow AF and bodywork veteran, I sincerely appreciate the time and effort and attention to detail that you have put into this build, and I can't wait to see the final result!

“My go!”
That’s hilarious, I haven’t heard that since I was a a kid.
Sarah is so friggin’ adorable.
Love the little digital paint puffs when Sarah's talking about painting the fenders...and they match the color of the Beetle. Sarah's about the details...nice!
This Ragnar series has been spot on
Seeing you so happy with how it turned out made my day. You did one hell of a job there Sarah. Thanks for sharing.
I gotta say, this paint job sure beats the hell outa my rattle can paint jobs. lol Exceptional job and ya, you should be proud of it with a very deserving pat on the back too!
as we all expected, you did an excellent job, whoever gets this vw will have a keeper.
Happy Humpday Sarah!!!
All I can say is, "That's what's up!!"
Turned out pretty frickin rad!! No orange peel = no wet sanding. Yay!!😁
High 5 to Charlie and Angel!!
Stay excellent!!!😎
Wow like glass indeed. You definitely should be proud of yourself for that amazing paint job.
The only person who thought you couldn't paint it was you. Iv'e been following your channel for a while now and basically if you decide you are going to do something your commitment is total. You are a rare breed( compliment). Thanks for vid. Keep the good work coming. 😄
Love the "Rage" shirt, that is a killer album. Excellent paint work too!
Really is.
Didn't know that was an album cover. Thought it was just sort of a twisted shirt to wear.
@@user-ex9zm7bg3x They took a famous photo and used it for that album's cover
You are not afraid of hard work! So refreshing! My daughter and I pulled her motor out of her '04 Mustang for a rear main seal leak. She asked if we could paint all the pans racing red...plus all the brackets. We did and scrubbed every inch of every part we removed. She was 17, turning 18 at the time and scrubbed the intake with a toothbrush and degreaser until it shined. Car had 102k on it! She never stopped going the distance on every part of that regasket job. I shared your vid with her and she loved it! You are an inspiration!
My older daughter reminded me that I sold her '69 beetle...I told her she was 5 years old! She said back that I told her it was hers! So, if I win the bug, she gets it! 😊
I've had that vent hole drip too, when I tilt the spray gun. My fix was to put an thick sock over the entire spray gun cup, so vent drips are absorbed into the sock. Great job, the bug looks terrific.
Sarah's smile ☺, cars, hard work, paint, an shorts an t-shirts, an getting dirty! (humor) lol yay!
Amazin stuff Sarah! Of course, your "special effects" were special too!
You are clearly one of a kind.
The car looks great. Not surprised.
Your attention to detail during prep was a big part of the process. Wow. The green really showed up against the red.
Painting the Bug! 🪲 🖌️🎨 🖼️
You've got some real natural talent 👏 you should be super proud 🥰
It's your favorite Air Force Jet Mech Vet here. Paint job looks great.
I have been watching you since the beginning, You are the freakin bomb
Pat yourself on the back, cuz you earned it. Doesn’t matter what kind of paint it was. Your first try, and it came out better than factory. Really happy for you! 🙂🙂
You have every right to brag. That looks SUPER! I must also thank you for the "special scenery" shots @ 9:13, 9:16 and others.
The paint looks great. I was skeptical of going white with it, but it is turning out super sweet. Video idea: just take a fender around comparing the color to as many random and esoteric things as possible.
Never a doubt in my mind that you would do so well. The extensive prep and sanding is all part of your passion to excel. GREAT JOB!
When telling us your sealer coat was done, I couldn’t help marvel at your likeness to an extra from the sound of music!!
You asked a while ago about what we all liked about your videos and there was a huge response of “You”. This is a perfect example of why I like to watch as this video shows you really happy and excited nothing fake just real joy and it really shows. I am sure many had the feeling of being proud of you too. Such a positive fun happy video with real excitement and joy. 😁. Can’t wait to see the next one. Well done you 😁
You are quite the professional preparer to paint the VW Bug. Kudos for you girl. Very thorough. Love the hammock in the shop!
You got me giggling when you started expressing how happy you were with the result - I know that feeling well. Well done! Could have it laid down any better? It doesn't look like it to me!
I am a retired body person and you have done an awesome awesome job. Very impressive and I must say the most gorgeous woman restoration mechanic/body person ever ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻
Great job Sarah!! For a first overall paint job, you knocked it out of the park!!
My wife, not a car person particularly, nor a you tube watcher, particularly, was so excited for this project. 69 Beetle was her first car, she loves the job is being done to perfection by a Female, and asks me daily, did Sarah post another video yet? Now she is after me to buy merch for entries and to support you. Sigh. I feel the same! Great work! Love the color and agree that Pisbean is the best name.
I absolutely love your enthusiasm. You go girll.
FANTASTIC JOB GRASSHOPPER.
Turned out fantastic from what we can all see. Bravo! I need to get on the ball and make more chances to win this. I'm without a vehicle of my own right now. So it would be extra sweet to win. Love your channels Sarah.
Credit where credit is due, you have done a fantastic job and yes you should be proud of yourself. Well done Sarah.
looks awesome!! congrats on your first full paint!!
What’s even more amazing you a teacher or better yet a leader. Who knows how far you will go. Your a star. Or better yet a COMET!
As always you did an amazing job and I know you have learned a lot from Fred about painting. Loved watching you do that. Thank you❤️
Notwithstanding this Car project you have elected to undertake, I wish you could post your daily routine / eating habits. etc. You look terrific each and every time !! Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed all the time. Your attention to DETAIL, is outstanding.
Perfect color for a classic VW Beetle! And awesome surface texture as well. Great job!
It's a joy to see people enjoying what they do! Makes me think back to PME class and "self-actualization". Mahalo for taking us along with you 😀!
Sarah, you have amazing skills ✨✨
I really like painting with a 2 qt. Pressure pot. No vents and only the gun is in your hand. The other hand holds the paint. No problem spraying upside down too! Beautiful Job.
This paint looks amazing! That prep truly makes a big difference
Easy is relative and you can't argue that the finish came out so smooth. Looks beautiful
That bug is going to look amazing!
Just another internet commando car enthusiast, this is a hell of a good paint job.
I have been to ... countless car shows in person, from just local meets to larger county fairs to fancy shmancy Concours type stuff.
We will have to see the finished product when it is all assembled,
but from the results here I have no doubt this Beetle could sit proudly among its brethren at any car show and turn some heads.
Just amazing!
What do you call a helicopter with a bad paint job?
A patchy gunship👻
Non surprise of the day : Sarah gets better at something by being more Sarah. :) Spraying anything at all is not easy. You smashed this. :) This semi-restoration is going to be a misnomer. It'll be pretty much perfect when you're finished. :)
Woman, you are not normal! Your sense of humour & comedic timing is like that of Steven Wright. Love your content.
Painting? Prep is EVERYTHING!
Every bit of your prep work was worthwhile…paint job looks better than factory. You’re not gonna want to let it go it’s gonna look so good. The paint is great quality and you got good advice…it shows.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That looks awesome! It really helps to have a pro look over your shoulder and give you pointers. Kudos to Fred for that.
My first car was a '69 Beetle. That was back in 1978, but I could not drive it until I got my license at 17 years old in 1979. I paid $450 for it, and since it was in New York, it was hit on every side. Loved it!!!
Hey Sarah, I've seen you wear Def Leppard shirts and few times. I'm on tour with them right now and we are going to be at the State farm stadium in Glendale on the 25th. I can get you a couple of tickets and possibly into the meet and greet if you're interested. You deserve a break once in a while. Love the progress on the VW.
You did a great job and were very wise to get Fred for his expert training. Too many people try to paint without understanding how tough it is to lay down a nice paint job and how to accomplish it. A lot of it is in the prep work and masking, which is where most of your time needs to be spent to do it right. Getting all the orange peel out is a great accomplishment. It can be easier to do with less catalyst and heat to allow the paint to "flow out". That paint job looks great with an awesome distinctness of image (aka mirror finish.) All in all, a beautiful job- well done !
I enjoy watching your show Sarah. Great job on the VW paint job. I think what sets you apart is you never take any short cuts. There’s always room to learn. Keep it up!👍
I am really enjoying this series. Not only is it a cool car, but your enthusiasm is infectious. Well done!
Per the crocodiles on Pearls Before Swine: "Heavens of Betsy!"
Can really hear how chuffed you are with the way the paint turned out. Excellent Job!!
You toot away till your heart's content. YOU deserve it!
Paint job is only as good as the prep work and skill of the painter! Bravo!! Excellent work as we all knew you would do! Congrats!😎
If that paint job hadnt been perfection, then I'd say Sarah had been swapped out for an inferior model.
You did an amazing job, and if a paint sprayer says it looks good, then that's the ultimate compliment!
What a fantastic job and the color is killer. You can paint anything for me anytime. I learn things from you that really looks easy. Thank you for showing us that you have to believe in our selves. Love your channel kid
I've been a vw mechanic for a bit more than 40years and have worked in all kinds of shops both mechanical and body shops. You absolutely knocked it out of the park! Very good job! I've seen guys with 20 years under their belt that cant come close to what you did. Way to go! I'll be buying something just so I have a chance to own such a well done car! Now if your ever in Missouri I've got a few cars that need some body and paint work lol
Just kidding my nephew wont let me have anyone else work on my stuff! But hes very good at what he does!
1 click of the like but-ton isnt enough to say how well you did and how nice this turned out. Great job.. Great prep and great cleaning... and paint gun work!! Gives us all on the fence of painting our own cars more confidence by watching you.. Thanks!
I built wreckers for years and our boss ran assembly and paint. He used to say "people don't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for fish eyes and orange peel, strip it down and do it again!" I think you did fantastic.
All I can say is Wow. Your abilities are out of this world. I love the comments too it makes this entertaining and funny. Just Cool Beans. 😎 Your attention to detail and telling why you do it this way amazing. Ragnar looking good and I love the color it rocks.
Proper prep Job will always make better Paint Job. No matter what always do an Air Blow test on your Tape Job, just make sure no dust settled in your paper or any of it got loose. Nice Job. paint a Bubble isn't no easy task.
I built my first bug in the 70s and painted it with aircraft paint in my backyard. It was a high dollar single stage paint that wasn't going to be used, and I was so happy it turned out so great. No runs, orange peel or dirt whatsoever in the paint from painting outside. I was amazed, enjoy the moment of your first paint job. I still do.
That came out friggin awesome!
The winner will be really pleased with your work Sarah 👍❤
Sarah,
Great first complete paint job.
Know that you chose one of the hardest cars to paint and not put runs in it especially single stage.
No orange peel is because its like paint a sphere,no hard edges or flat surfaces.
Hi Sarah!! I owned a “Ragnar” (69 beetle) back in ‘83 and I loved it! Taught my girlfriend, now wife, how to drive a stick in one of these. Would love nothing more than to drive one again. It would be a dream come true!
Excellent results! Many years ago I had a 69 and a lot of friends also ran bugs. One guy thought he was an ace spray guy and the curve of the front fenders ate his lunch. You deserve to be proud of that paint job.
Wow - Beetle looks fantastic. You should be proud of yourself - you put the time in to do it the right way, and the results speak for themselves.
Excellent job... prep prep prep... all those hours sanding and masking, just shows how it was worth it.
Sarah I've been painting cars before you were born and I have to say you did an excellent job and you did it looking good too🌹. Single stage paint is definitely harder to do than base coat clear coat without a doubt. You nailed it for sure. I have nothing but praise for you. Definitely top quality work !!
Great paint job!! 👍😊 way to go kiddo!!
Don't cut yourself short because it's not fancy metallic or Candy 🍎.
You don't have the runs, and that's something to be very proud of.
We're all happy this went so well.
Now I need to get a Ragnar entry. 👍
PROUD....
You should be....Outstanding Paint work!!
Well Done!!! That color looks so much better than the old black. Huge improvement. Single stage paint is the right paint for the car.
You did a wonderful job painting my car, lol. I love watching my car being upgraded for ME.
I love this car. Great job on the paint. Growing up, my Father had a 1968 Beetle in the same color. I have so many fond memories of that car. I learned to drive with that car. I am very excited about the contest. I have been looking for a nice Beetle for years. My fingers and toes are crossed. Thanks again!
Damn! Nice job Sarah!
11:45 yer voice changed. Could tell that you were tickled with the outcome & taking some pride in your efforts. Right on you!
This is really, an outstanding work here. Almost no orange peel, from first paintjob experience, damn your hands are from the right place..
I'm so jealous of all these resources you have at your disposal. Either way, I'm now inspired to take my projects more seriously and really be meticulous.
My birth year bug. I've had two in my time and I want that thing so bad! Such fun to drive and maintain. That color is gorgeous. Reminds me of the eggs I got from our chickens as a kid.
I would consider driving my car across the country to Tucson just so Fred could paint it. He's awesome, and apparently a very good teacher. Looks great! No doubt it'll be better than factory by the time you're done with it. 👍
Skill is still involved. You have it naturally.
Wow! Great job Sarah. Nailed it!!!
That paint looks fantastic Sarah! I wish my new truck had paint half that nice. Seriously!
Got to say, VERY impressed! You make it look like someone who was willing to put in some effort could maybe do a half decent job themselves. Really like the color and would love to see you try more complex stuff!
