Peonies are so wonderful- Thanks for this episode! Last summer my mom gave me her Sarah Bernhardt 'clump' of peonies that hadn't bloomed in several years. She had been mulching it up and I think that may be why it was always just stems and leaves, no blossoms. In any case, I took it home and divided it and now I have about 7 new plants! They all came up this spring, but I probably won't get any blooms this year. They will need more time to get to that stage.
One other tip I have learned about peonies, is that they like nice loose loam soil, NOT clay rich soil. I tried to plant some one year in an area of my yard that was like gumbo and they just didn't thrive or do anything! So I transplanted them to another spot and, what do you know, they are much happier.
Thanks again for a great show!

Oh the peony. I secretly hated them when I grew and sold flowers in London because I didn’t have the space for them. I tried to push my early lilies but people were on the mission for peonies. And now I’m back in 9b with warm winters and there’s no chance I can grow them or anyone else. So now I love them again 😊

I know this is totally contrary to the point made by the video, but I now want to add Sara B to my peony collection, despite having the Jules Eilie and a few single pinks 😅 I love collecting them and I know Home Depot had them this year, lol
