LETS MAKE MINECRAFT GREAT AGAIN! ^^^
Oh yeah, and here's my twitter. / dundeeyt_
Today, I explore the many flaws that have stagnated and slowly caused minecraft's decline. I look at minecraft updates ruining the game such as the 1.19.1 chat reporting minecraft update, the minecraft mob vote and how people want to stop the mob vote and how mob votes are ruining minecraft. But before all of that, we have to go back to where it all started in old minecraft 1.7.3, the minecraft nostalgia. The rise and fall of minecraft, the resurgence of minecraft with popular minecraft youtubers such as Dream minecraft, pewdiepie let's play, minecraft monday. Mojang killing Minecraft.

You know what? I'll not subscribe to this channel. this video is click bait. Minecraft is the same as it ever was since its inception. You think it's getting worse but it isn't. The players are what is getting worse. If you don't like the new version of minecraft, play the old version. No need to get bothered about "what you don't want to be in the game" if you play the old version. So many twitter crybabies complaining that minecraft isn't what it used to be when what they should be looking at is themselves. The players change. The players are becoming toxic. And they are taking out all of their issues on others. What they need to do is shut up, get off the computer and touch grass.

one of the problems is that it doesnt feel like an indie game anymore. they dont make any crazy ideas anymore. it doesnt feel like they're making changes or real updates to the game and rather just content updates like most triple a games. it just feels corporate and it doesnt really feel special anymore. like maybe one new wood type a year? notch wouldve came up with so many ideas already. and it doesnt feel simple anymore. mobs that notch had came up with had few animations. the zombie only had walk and hit for example. it feels like minecraft is lacking variety. if notch was still working on the game, maybe we would've gotten more zombie variants, more creeper variants, stuff like that. and every update is themed. they just gotta tell themselves "hey this idea seems cool lets add it" and not "uh so the theme is gonna be about uh an ancient city what would fit the ancient city. we need to add another theme tho or else its gonna be boring" every year, waiting for a new announcement for a new update is just boring.

Something I disagree with was the thing about the updates shouldn’t have a theme. 1.16 1.14 and 1.13 were all really good updates because they focused an actual theme. 1.17/1.18 was the cave update and while they certainly fit the theme those updates failed because features were delayed and the update was split in 2 (kinda 3) parts. Then 1.19 the wild update had a pretty vague theme and didn’t really do anything with it and it was more of a finish the leftovers from caves and cliffs. And the newest update 1.20’s theme wasn’t really it was really vague and was kinda all over they sorta just worked on whatever they wanted and it just doesn’t feel all to together the features just didn’t feel linked like it was the same update.

People say "Minecraft is dying" but I genuinely don't see it... YES people are dissatisfied with the newer updates, YES some people don't enjoy playing it very much anymore... But NO, it's not dying. I feel like the _only_ reason people keep saying this is because everyone keeps saying it.
I still play Minecraft pretty much daily. I still discuss Minecraft, talk about Minecraft, and see Minecraft videos every single day! There's thousands of people who still play the game frequently and talk about it online. Minecraft _isn't_ dead or dying, a large percentage of more casual fans don't give a crap about the game's online discourse, and _like_ the newer updates still, even if they aren't as impressive as people would like them to be.
Hermitcraft is still going strong, and it consists of a lot of popular Minecraft CZcamsrs. There are Minecraft channels all over that still post frequently and get a lot of attention. Minecraft is the single most sold game in the world, you really think its that easy for it to die out? People have been saying crap like this for literal _years._

Mojang has so many talented developers yet the only thing that is holding them back is Microsoft. This supposed "downfall" is in everyone's heads. What we consider to be great is entirely relative to ourselves and is constantly changing with time. Minecraft isn't getting worse, we're only realizing the issues it already had. That combined with the constant negativity on the internet subconsciously affects how we view the game. Recall why people loved Minecraft in 2019. The same issues we had with it before were still present, so what changed? It was the nostalgia. Then we kept playing. Now, the exact same thing that happened in 2016, before that, 2011, is happening again and now. Negativity, boredom, disappointment, hatred towards Mojang, all of it. It's a cycle. We let negativity get in the way of our enjoyment and it leads us to believe the game is getting worse. And if you're bored with the game, maybe play something else and come back to it a long while later. Minecraft requires your creativity, and creativity can only build up with time.
If you want my honest opinion, Minecraft is indeed a very flawed game, down to its roots. I'm talking since its inception, it's been a flawed game. I don't need to get down to the details of that, but I will say, I believe Minecraft can and will get better. Minecraft has all the resources and time to become the best version of itself and all we need to do is stick with it. We might not agree with its changes, but it's counterproductive to complain about it. Not to say feedback isn't good, but feedback is very different from complaining. Besides, you are 100% free to play an older version of the game, download infinite mods, and essentially play the game however you choose. Nothing's stopping you.
Minecraft is fun, Minecraft is infinite. Minecraft is infinite fun. A game that's fun. Isn't that where it all started?

  • @Todd94
    @Todd94 Před 2 měsíci +1

I think the issue is threefold:
    1) They're far too corporate and development is no longer a collaboration between the devs and the community like how it used to be
    2) They set up updates on a yearly schedule. They should only update when they have something worthwhile to add. When there's a schedule to add things, you will inevitably end up with updates that just have random crap thrown in because they had to have SOMETHING
    3) Devs are afraid to innovate. Most of the past several updates have only added things that did not fundamentally shift the way people play the game. New biomes, enchantments, plants, etc do not offer anything past a couple days worth of content. This is especially bad for people playing on old worlds where the new features won't be integrated into the early and mid game growth of a world.

As I stumbled upon this video criticizing Minecraft, I didn't anticipate the emotional rollercoaster it would put me through. You see, Minecraft isn't just a game; it's a world where I've poured countless hours, forged friendships, and explored my creativity. But as the video dissected its flaws, it felt like an attack on my sanctuary. Suddenly, doubts crept in, questioning the value of my time spent in this virtual realm. It's like unraveling a cherished memory, leaving me adrift in uncertainty. This critique wasn't just about a game; it shook the foundation of my identity, leaving me questioning who I am without Minecraft.

My main problem about minecraft is that every update they release into the game makes the game feel evermore lifeless. Before Notch sold the right of the game to microsoft the game felt alive and every update had its charms. Yes a lot of updates of Modern Minecraft were good but they don’t feel like the indie game used to. Simple, but with variety. And don’t forget the divided community because of 2 different versions of the game. That also majorly impacts the time it takes to craft new content for the game.

Part of the problem is that new features don't blend very well with old ones. Take copper. What is copper good for? Well, it could have been incorporated into redstone circuitry. And technically it was with the lightningrod... but that was sort of it. An entire new ore, used for blocks, lightning rods, and spyglasses. It was underwhelming. Copper is so useful in the real world, but so useless in the game. It was just a disappointment of an ore.
Also consider the sniffer mob. It's neat and interesting, but all it does is give you a couple flowers and look like a colorful Eore. It doesn't have any drops, it doesn't interact with any mobs, it barely interacts with the environment. It was lackluster.
And of course, let's not forget the controversy over villager changes or - dare I even mention them - bundles. The villager stuff has improved with time, but I still firmly believe it will be viewed as incomplete so long as it doesn't also touch up the anvil and enchanting table systems. Because all it does is make it harder to enchant gear, which was already a bit of a nuisance if you wanted to use villagers for it, and a headache if you wanted to enchant.

Have you ever wondered why there is a lack of content despite there being a billion things to do in the game. Well, it’s because the amount of content is kind of getting overwhelming. Old Minecraft had little content. But that leaves the player to create their own fun. Did you hear that? The player creates their own fun. That’s the whole point of Minecraft. Creating your own fun. And I think Mojang is kind of forgetting that. But I also think the community is forgetting that as well.
But should that mean that Mojang should just stop updating Minecraft. No, they still can. They just gotta learn from mods like the Better Than Adventure mod.
Also also, Mojang should really start focusing on optimizing the game. Fixing old features that people hate. And I also think they should add a super hard mode that makes the game super hard. And I also think that there should be a survival update that focuses on survival. Because Minecraft is a survival game you know.

I believe that, though Mojang is killing the game, the community is doing so as well. The most known groups aren't really clear on what they want, they don't give clear feedback often, sometimes they don't give any feedback at all, sure, updates are small, but there are tons of reasons for bigger updates to be just barely possible, yet the community doesn't want to hear it because they're just not willing to listen to things that disagree with their standing. Controversial updates do release quite often nowadays, but I also believe they aren't the only reason for the community's divide, the debate on which edition is the best, the community's diverse opinions, heck, even the mere size of it makes it impossible for everyone to be happy with anything, thus dividing it further. But the community's biggest issue, in my opinion, is its sheer ignorance towards development issues. Developing Minecraft isn't all about typing code and adding it to the game, there's tons of bureaucracy, there are 2 different editions of the game with 2 different codebases for 3 different types of devices (computers, mobile phones and controllers), there's a lot of planning behind development while including restrictions to make the game feel like at least a bit of its core essence… it's like digitally drawing, you don't just draw random lines on a screen, there's anatomy, art style, positions, clothing, sketching, line art, coloring, shading, highlights…
Overall, it's pretty hard to keep such a game up, and not everyone has a concrete, unifying factor to keep the community together. I've seen people who want more content, I've seen people who want depthful content and I've even seen people who want to play a version of the game with less content, this community is too diverse to keep itself together. Think of it like Austria-Hungary, it had a ton of ethnic groups spread through its lands, those ethnic groups wanted their own things which couldn't be provided to not anger the other side, but as soon as Austria-Hungary became weak enough, everyone broke away and it collapsed. It couldn't keep itself together because it was too diverse, much like the Minecraft community right now.
All I want is that the community stops being so childishly angry and that youtubers stop incentivating this kind of behavior, because it'll kill the game more than Mojang's decisions.
