I got the part in and just saw this video. Best tutorial out there. The bolt in the back is difficult to remove, but unlike some misleading forums recommended, it can be removed without breaking any tabs. I found a little lubrication helped use the torx socket at a slight angle without it walking out of the screw head. It's kind of a slow and awkward job, but it's not really that difficult.

Good video. I have a 2006 xc90. I bought the blower and resistor from 1A the only fault with the part is the blower cover screw hole was incorrectly placed. I used the old one no biggy. I did this in under 45 minutes and was shocked at how easy this was. Don't be timid do it yourself, you will save alot of money and gain a bit of pride in yourself. On my xc90 I did have to break the back right tab it was unaccessible unless you cut a spot or take dash out, but it didn't hinder the blower motor one bit being 1 screw short. It is tough to get blower motor out; in order to break the tab I tugged on the front and the sides to break it. It took about 4 careful tugs to break. I rotated the blower motor clock and counter clock wise in order to free from housing and other obstructions. I didn't disconnect my battery when I did this and it didn't work at first after I reinstalled it. So I disconnected the battery and took out the radio/climate panel and cleaned the temp sensor and connectors with MAF cleaner because it works great on sensitive sensors and metal and doesn't damage plastic, it also dries very quick. The temp sensor located in climate panel was filthy and I'm sure needed it. I then reinstalled the radio/climate panel and reconnected the battery. It works great now. So make sure you disconnect the battery at some point because it will not work if you don't and you will become upset. I also recalebrated the climate temp controls based on a thread I came across. I hope I helped someone with my advice. Thank you 1A auto. The company has good parts at fair prices and good instruction videos.

Mine is a 2007 V70. That last screw gave me the heebie jeebies. Finally got it out. I know some have been saying just break the tab but I didn't want to do that.
I think it may have been replaced before and got cross-threaded. I could not get the t25 to seat properly.
Now it's just to put the new one on 2:15

Thanks, helped to supplement the service manual, the whole swap process is easy, the most difficult part is getting to the rear left screw (2007 S60R) also the 2007 doesn't have a gas strut in the glove box, it's a string with a clip.

Hint for all arts replacement projects: Always look at your new part before removing the old. There was no reason to search for and discover a phantom 5th bolt. You would have known exactly what you were reaching for and where it was. Other than that, the video was easy to follow.

I did this to my 2004 XC70 when the blower relay switch became faulty, causing the fan to stay on indefinitely, killing the battery. This is a much better video than the one I used at the time to get the job done. But yeah, the shop wanted close to 1k for parts and labor. I spent around 125.00 on the parts and did it myself. Thanks for this video

Verald I'm pretty sure this is exactly the same on an XC70. Stuff like this seems to be identical on any P2 model. The only differences I've found so far between a normal V70 and an XC70 are the AWD system, some parts of the suspension (control arms) and the plastic bits on the exterior.

Forgot to add that my saving grace was the use of a 90 degree extension I used with my DeWalt impact driver that made getting all the T25 torx screws out with ease, especially the two in the back that are difficult to reach.

No, but it allows for more light as well as more visibility. Take the glove box out it has about 6 screws and takes about 2 minutes, worth the time to take out.

I have a 2006 S60, and the fan won't turn off when I shut the HVAC off. That's typically the resistor. Replace both the motor & resistor at the same time, if you're going to do all that labor you might as well while you've got it apart.
