Matthew, I remember many episodes of New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abram starting a project with old reclaimed wood. Sometimes it was from old barns, one of the This Old House projects, logs that were at the bottom of rivers…. And it was just beautiful material once cleaned up. Of course, Nom could take any wood and turn it into something wonderful!

Wow wow wow. Such a beautiful job.
Please also refinish the old bench to match, it would sand and stain up so lovely. Then you’d have two.
I’m currently making an Adirondack chair out of old 2x3s I’d taken off a sofa base I’d added to help my mum get out of it and stop kids toys and pupper hair going underneath.
Also made a fenced play area in our garden out of 4x4s from heavy duty pallets. Milled down into 2 inch x 1/2 inch slats and painted them with a different rainbow colour.
Always get inspired watching your videos ❤️

I'm not new to woodworking but don't have a lot of experience and it's been a long time since I did any woodwork. Almost a beginner. Been watching your videos and finding them very valuable. Using the old chunk of wood to make the double rocker turned out really nice. I have quite a bit of old wood boards, most have been out in the weather for years. Decided to do something with them rather than firewood. Sanded a couple down with 50 grit sandpaper on a hand held belt sander and nice surprise, they were cedar. I made a couple phone stands that look pretty nice. Still have most of the two pieces left for some other things to make. Thanks for the informative videos and the inspiration.

I'm working on a shed that is built for free out of wood that I brought home from work over the years (framer for about 30 years)...beam cutoffs and old pergolas we have torn down. I am using only wood that is rotting from being in the yard for 8-10 years. I'm making the decay a feature and using timber pieces so that it won't rot in my lifetime. Sheated with ¾" plywood, this shed is built like a tank that looks like it's beaten to death. Everything is pre-weathered.

Matthew... I have to come clean... I watch many videos on wood builds dreaming about creating the build... however rad your builds are, I come here not only to watch the build, because it doesn't matter what you're building. i just come to listen to you talk.... it's calming and the accent just, gets me. I'm from Northern California, we don't have cool accents.
it's like listening to Raylan in Justified 🫶

Bahaha... Well ty. And I have to come clean... I actually try to lighten my accent when I record so people can understand what I'm saying. And I think that's the first time anyone has said my accent is cool. But again, thanks! Oh an Justified took place in Eastern Kentucky... I'm not too far away on the West side.

I'm trying to figure out if "Mistakes Were Made. That would make a great shirt." was a joke or not. It did make a great shirt when Brad from FixThisBuildThat made one at least.

And that busted TV and split dresser are the coolest freaking pieces I've ever seen. Do the upper drawers actually function where the dresser splits in half? I've always wondered

Nice. I thought you might cut a new pattern with the two diamonds rather than pull out the slats. But it wouldn’t have been like the original.

I have a question, once you made the diamond shape for the diamond why wouldnt you stack the boards together to cut out the shape? Fyi legitimately curious if that would be a legit way to do it im a very poor woodworker and cant make anything square lol. Im trying hard to learn.
