According to the reddit rumors, with a grain of speculation as always, the license for MK is in limbo right now due to WB merging with Discovery. That means that Storm would not be able to produce new products with Mortal Kombat until the merger is completed and a new agreement is met. However, I would love for Jada Toys to take on the license. The biggest reason being that we would hopefully have a complete MK line. I love Storm, but my god, it took forever to get any figures. The most disappointing thing too is that Storm never finished the roster for MK. I think Jada Toys could make the figures way faster, and for way cheaper.
I’m relatively new to collecting, so my biggest issue with Storm was the fact that they wouldn’t reissue anything, and it was super expensive to get older figures. That and the fact that the order of their releases was all over the map. I never had any idea what would be coming. I’d give Jada a shot.
I think the biggest issue right now is the proposed merger of Warner Bros Games putting a halt to pretty much all of MK’s licensed merch. I’d love to see Storm continue their license and have Jada do other iterations of the characters, like Deception or MK9
Street Fighter and Mega Man are already 2 of my absolute favorite things ever, if they did Mortal Kombat I would start to believe I was living in some kinda simulation where my personal toy wants were the priority.
From a quality and price standpoint, I would absolutely love it if Jada got the MK license - but like you said - they need to get figures out quicker. Mortal Kombat has long suffered from the curse of incompletion. I don't think any line of MK figures that has ever been released managed to complete the entire roster from whichever game they represented. I have most of the Storm Collectibles MK figures I want with two major holes - Jax and an updated Subzero (with the scar) in ninja outfit. In many of the past MK lines, Jax is usually left out. Storm actually previewed the updated Ninja Subzero (which largely used the existing Scorpion sculpt) around the time they previewed Kintaro and Reptile, but he hasn't been seen since. If Jada gets the license, I would consider restarting and collecting a new line of MK figures, but it would be tough to take the leap for fear of them getting figures out too slowly and abandoning/losing the license before completing a roster.
I would love for Jada to do MK2 complete roster. Nice selection of characters, not too many to do and they compliment SF2 figures nicely. Additionally I'd love for Jada to get their hands on Resident Evil license. RE, RE2, RE3 figures would be insane!
I remember in 2016, when they were just starting their Metals Die Cast figures (now called Metalfigs), they had some Mortal Kombat prototypes with the Street Fighter ones. I was one of the few people who collected most of those figures, but sadly the MK figures never got released. Maybe due to poor sales (I mean they were competing with Funko that was really hot at that time). Hopefully, this time they will finally have them in action figure form.
Jada has been on a roll with the Street Fighter line. That Chun-Li figure is still a masterpiece of a budget figure that puts Hasbro to shame and it's only a $25 figure.
I know nothing about Street Fighter, and as a Canadian the Jada Toys offerings aren't as good bangs for the buck here. But I wont lie they do look pretty tempting with how much you get for the $35-$40 they cost here
I got mine from Walmart for 29.97....online retailers seller for 35-40+, annnnd it appears GameStop will be getting them soon enough, had a employee give me the SKUs so be on the lookout.
In my hand I've got Ryu, Fei Long, Chun-Li, Ken, Dhalism, Evil Ryu, and P2 Ryu, all of which I got from local Targets save for the latter two which are con/retailer exclusives. I don't think they have a problem with moving the line along, I think the problem is either with the 3-pack assortment method they're using for distribution to Target and/or Target itself. Like I've seen more Kens than Chun-Lis in person which is weird given Chun-Li released last year, and I've yet to see a single Bison and bought the sole Dhalsim I saw in the wild. I wonder if Target corporate just orders a bunch of assortments, sends them to various distribution centers and then individual Targets request more stock as they sell out, so that regions where they're not selling through as fast are still going through a backlog of Fei-Longs and Ryus packs which I see in almost all seven of the Targets near me that I KNOW stock the SFII line. If they could get Target selling these online or get them to other online retailers faster it would be great but it for me there's like a 3-6 month lag between them showing up in west coast Targets and finally reaching my local Targets/online retailers. As for Mortal Kombat, I'd love it if Jada got the line but I'm not getting my hopes up. It's entirely possible that the reason MK disappeared from Storms site is due to the licensing being frozen as part of WB trying to sell off Netherrelm/MK, as they've been trying to sell off all of their studios and game properties because David Zaslav is an idiot that has been driving WB into the ground. Lastly Dhalsim is pronounced like doll-sim.
My only complain about JADA TOYS, is that it takes them too long to release all the characters, a big street fighter fan would collect all the characters in an instant.
The license I would love to see Jada get is Resident Evil. That franchise has so much traction ( comics , books, games & movies the cgi ones not the crap live action ones ) & next year is it's 30th anniversary would be a perfect time to launch a RE line.
Recently Todd did a livestream QnA and said something to the effect of "I'm seeing a lot of Mortal Kombat (in the comments).. yeah we'll get more out". I enjoyed his line, but it didn't go very deep. I'd welcome a Jada line happily.
I would love it if Jada toys did Mortal Kombat! I'm tired of Storm-Collectibles, they're nice figures, but I'm so tired of paying so much for them, it's exhausting to keep up.
The main thing is that a SF line and MK line a that scale with each other and at an affordable price. I'll buy all of them. Also Jada plays well with 6 inch and 1/12 scale that other companies use. That alone is a big sale point.
I’m not too keen on the Mortal Kombat figures unless they completely delve into all characters from MK1-4 including the cyborgs, and not just Scorpion/Sub-Zero yet again. However, I would deeply love jumping on the Jada wagon if they finally made some action figures based on the characters from the original 1994 Killer Instinct arcade game. Including characters such as Fulgore, Cinder, Glacius, Riptor, and etc.
I'm not a Street Fighter guy, but those figures look great. If they did a classic MK line in that style, hell yeah, I would buy them. Original Trilogy ninjas? Gimme, gimme, gimme.
I’d love to see Jada get the license for MK. Jada toys are almost import level quality at an affordable price. I know it wouldn’t happen, but seeing them make an MK 11 spawn would be very awesome.
Nothing against MK, but like you said, Jada is already so slow at getting their SF figures out. I want them to finish that line before diving into another.
Thanks for the video Matt. Your topic is fascinating. As a collector for the past four-five years it has been an interesting journey watching third party competitors. Increasing over the last few years a gap between the big boys and the collectors that has been filled by these competitors. A gap that seems widening between the collectors and the big boys. The competitors have filled the gap with quality products and accessories that are not delivered by the big boys. And they did it at a competitive price point. Perhaps complacency amongst the big boys might have something to do with that gap. I firmly believe the landscape of action figure collecting is changing. For the better.
The Mega Man line is top notch, i have the first wave and the detail, articulation, and accessories are great. Eagerly waiting for wave 2 to drop on Amazon.
Storm Collectibles had so many MK figures in the works that never got released and that just bums me out. We saw blanks for Kitana, Mileena, Kabal, MK1 Shang Tsung with his throne, and a new Shao Khan figure. And now it's all gone. So I hope somebody else picks up the line.
No line of figures based on the MK3 cyborgs is complete without Cyber Smoke. And I honestly don’t want more BAT stuff. If a company is going to do a better job than Hasbro & McFarlane, then they can’t be copying them. Just give us the figures without any marketing gimmicks and people will buy them.
Love the cereal monsters! Got all 3.(hope they do the others) And got there Creature from the Black Lagoon(it’s great). And been cherry picking the Street Fighters which I also love. I think Jada do some great MK toys. I’d probably get some of my favorites
Also as an update, all MK figure licenses were suspended, not just storms, We'll know more about it by the end of June. Storm may well get it back(hopefully)
This would be awesome and more then likely they would actually complete rosters. I am happy Jada has finally got distribution figured out. Currently Neca and Jada are a majority of what I am collecting figure wise. My local Walmart in small city Saskatchewan got them they didn't last long, I was happy get the 2 didn't have but would have bought more if they had for customs.
That would be awesome. I hope Jada does MK female characters. Storm teased female ninjas Kitana and Melina years ago but I guest they won’t see the light of day. Guest the only female character we are going to get is Sheeva which is an odd choice because we still don’t have the female ninjas and Sonja.
I use to collect the SF2 from storm but they move to slow with releases. They dropped balrog a year ago and every toyfair they advertise figures that have been pending for over 5 years. Jada has released figures from SF2 that I've been wanting from storm
Also since Jada seems to be on great terms with Capcom, I'm really hoping for classic Resident Evil figures and (wishful thinking) some Darkstalkers figures
I would absolutely buy a MK figure(s) from Jada. I only have Ken from the Street Fighter line but the figures are as good as people say, his outfit even has texture with the option to remove the top of his gi for extra display possibilities.
I love the street fighter line! Agree they need to be more in retailers. You barely find them at Target 🎯. Also there have been more than 3 releases. Ryu, Ryu P2, Ken, Chun Li, Fun Li , Evil Ryu. It would be awesome to have Mortal Kombat done by the same company as they would scale perfectly! I always wanted MK figures but Storm was too expensive & big and McFarlane was only doing MK11 attires. We need the OG from MK1 to MK3

I buy whatever i can find now ,jada is good but they are just as slow to release stuff as storm is but ofcourse they are way cheaper but really thats the only advantage over storm . Im building my street fighter shelf with jada ,storm ,neca or any other company that makes them like i do with other stuff i collect . I dont have forever to finish my collection
so, you’ll notice that Storm collectibles still has street fighter, so, it’s a nice thought to think Jada will get MK, it is not guaranteed. You make a lot of valid points about tooling and pop culture relevance to the non-collectors. “Should we” is not worth much. Jada don’t have enough IP to become the third head of the hydra. Subpar 7 have PLENTY of good IP and they’re run by a cretinous lumps with a big mouth, so, yeah, takes a lot to get to the top and IP is only part of it
I would rather they finish one line of fighting game action figures before starting another, cause the possibility of them getting started and not being able to finish them is very likely. Plus waiting for almost a year for cheap figures makes them not worth it to me, Jada's stuff is just OKAY.
I loved the chun li so much i had to buy a second one for display and one for in box. Excited to get cammy and hopefully juri. Btw, i have a package coming from you today. I appreciate your store and i look forward to get more stuff from you (i already have she hulk preordered with you bc my wonder woman came and it was pristine, thank you for that too!)
@@typicalhi-jinx9641 Eh disagree, we wouldn't have the remakes if it weren't for the classics, plus going for the more traditional, iconic looks of the characters could fit into more displays, kind of tired of the hyper focus on realism.
I guess it would depend if Jada gets the Street Fighter 6 license and how they turn out. Storm Collectibles recently revealed the first wave of Street Fighter 6 characters and they look pretty great. Hoping Cammh joins the lineup sooner rather than later, because her new look is 🔥
Im not sure what the WB is doing with Mortal Kombat. I'm not sure why they pulled everything. If Jada Toys got the MK license, and did the first few games like (SF2)........subscription plan. The Ninja's alone would print money. But yeah Jada does need to speed up but at the same time we've already seen the full roster. It's a weird place this time next year they could just finish SF2 and move on. They also need to just keep doing more Capcom stuff.
I'd really love it if McFarlane continued making Mortal Kombat figures as it would suck to have to restart collecting in a new scale, but if they look nice then i'd be interested. At the very least I'd get my favorites like Reptile and Johnny Cage.
Jada's SF figures are awesome. Solid figures at a great price point. I would love to see them tackly Mortal Kombat and maybe older games like Double Dragon (best worst cartoon of the 90s).
I apologize in advance for canonballing off topic but, anyone else looking 👀 forward to McFarlane Ambush Bug w/Cheeks the toy wonder? I’ve wanted that ever since I was a kid reading the comic.
MK is good but I would prefer them to stick with Capcom licence like Final Fight or Resident Evil. Which could be very easy with them already having relation with Capcom.
Jada is doing a full line of street fighter 2 and maybe endup doing more from alpha series now if jada does the same with a mortal kombat line that would be awesome no toy company has successfully made a full mortal kombat line its annoying if you are a fan like the todd mcfarlen figures only making afew and jazwares not holding onto the licence to do more
For any oje curious abt MK. Mcfarlane and funko have started doing MK stuff related to MK1. So its possible that WB figured their shit out. I really love storm but if jada makes all the cast plus different eras id orobably buy all of em from jada. Storm is great. My MK kollection is possibly my fav but they have really dropped the ball alot recently. So my hopes go to jada and maybe one day i can finally have a sindel figure
I've been loving the jada street fighter line. was able to find bison not to long ago and he is amazing. I think jada doing MK figures would be perfect.
As much as I love Jada toys I'm sure their street fighter series is a design purchase from storm collectables as Ive got ken in both and even the materials are extremely similar so are the joints😊 I bet the MKS are straight storm designs😂
Wouldnt mind seing more MK figures but Ideally, I want storm to continue the license. we were only like 9 fighters awey from a complete Mk trilogy roster
They have bigger problems, especially Hasbro. (I rent power ranger for a reason) Because if mk releases figures, there is no reason for jada (in fact the only time mk and sf shared a figure company was...Hasbro in the 90s, and mk's figures did not have a stamp or dehgasbro or gijoe...out of fear) ...it's not like MK always has figures for sale... well something like that, yes, at least compared to other games, but still not enough for it to be a matter of time...someone will get it. So why would they release st8rm figures... I don't want that, others didn't ask for it... storm has sf figures... and even so also jada:v and giguarts:v so why would a company release mk figures now if they didn't do it before? but today it would be a waste if someone else doesn't release mk figures... well yes and tekke have figures... also kof but I would prefer someone else release them and not storm. whoever can get mk, I just hope it's not an expensive brand, like storm, super 7, blah blah blah... but rather a standard price that can get several characters...
Pretty sure WB suspended the license for anything MK going forward. They're a bit clueless. Would totally go all in on jada if they did the line, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Hoping I'm wrong, though haha
Well, Jada Street Fighter is excellent, I have Ken, Ryu, and Chun Li so far with Bison on order. But there output is still small. Even if they get Mortal Kombat.
I'm not sure if I would collect a Mortal Kombat line. I feel out of Mortal Kombat once the games wetn 3-D. I deffinantly wouldn't collect the figures if it was past MK Trilogy. That's why I didn't touch the McFarlane or Storm figures. I hope JADA just keeps giving us Capcom characters. Then I will happly give them my money.
The iron will stay hot as long as the quality continues, quality and hunger will continue if they keep trickling them out slowly. As long as it makes them money they need to stay to this formula.
Loving what I've seen of Jada's smooth sculpts and articulation, though as a huge Universal Monsters fan I'd have to agree - they could've done a little better with those figures I think. What's got me hugely dissapointed though is they've apparently lost the licence for the Universal Monsters! So their prototype Mummy figure that looked so cool won't be made now 😩😭 ...Can anyone else confirm this??
The SF figures are great but I still prefer the Mega Man line.. and if they go thru all the games and into Mega Man X I’m gonna lose it lol. But if Mortal Kombat classic characters hit? I’m dropping my Hasbro minus Transformers. Imho I’m 100% fine with the speed these are coming out. The economy sucks, like you said.. a wave of 3 characters every 4-6 months? That’s perfection.
Hasbro and Mattel are multi billion dollar international conglomerates. They make all kinds of products, not just action figures. Jada has a few good lines, but they are nothing compared to Hasbro/Mattel. They could easily buy Jada and absorb them
We finally get MK figures…oh wait! Mcfarlane, Storm Co…and just like their Street Fighter figures they lack important accessories. Fei Long is missing some effect for his rapid fists attack, afaik Ken only has a Shakunetsu Hadouken (burning). which he never had like Ryu, but no flaming effect for his Shoryuken. Chun-Li is missing her range attack. But hey, if people love them, all the power to Jada. Oh, and Ryu is like „Re-U“…not „Ri-U“.
Would you buy Mortal Kombat figures from Jada?
Yes, they've done a good job with other licenses
Absolutely
after street fighter wave. YESS
ABSOLUTELY!
YESSS!!
2 best fighting franchise in 1 toy company. Dream come true!
Add one more.. KOF
I’d buy the whole MK line if Jada did it. I personally want them to get the Ben 10 license.
ME TOO! We need a 6inch scale Ben 10 line and other 2000's cartoons like Samurai Jack, Danny Phantom, Fairly Oddparents, SpongeBob, Generator Rex...
Honestly if they do ben 10 and mk I'm buying it all lol
Bro I’ve been wanting this too! I can’t believe someone was thinking of Ben 10 as well!
@ultimateslinger9857 honestly I been collecting the old shit just cuz there isn't anything new but this would be a game changer

We've been pushing Jada diecast for last few years. The quality is awesome! Absolutely love Jada!
so, you’ll notice that Storm collectibles still has street fighter, so, it’s a nice thought to think Jada will get MK, it is not guaranteed.
I'm not into anything Jada does currently but if they keep growing in lines it could definitely happen. Great video Matt.
I would love for Jada or Neca to make Resident evil figures. We need some based on the remakes
Neca has done some resident evil figures but they definitely need a current line going.
Why not the classic games first?
@@scottroxford5715 I would like classic ones too. but, since the remakes are really popular right now, it would make sense to start with them.
@@typicalhi-jinx9641 Eh disagree, we wouldn't have the remakes if it weren't for the classics, plus going for the more traditional, iconic looks of the characters could fit into more displays, kind of tired of the hyper focus on realism.
@@scottroxford5715 okay
The street fighter toys are amazing!
Hasbro needs to give Jada the 6 inch license for Star Wars so they can put my of the Star Wars budget into one damn line
Been dying off of collecting... Same old, Variations, And prices are nuts. But, The street fighter line has been and is quite exciting for the price.
I like the 3-5 figures a year model personally…. Makes it fun to collect and not a full time job
They should grab any liscenses they can. I want some of their figures but i dont care for street fighter lol
I think when they start getting more and more properties. Yes. But at its current state no, but Jada shows a lot of promise
They have bigger problems, especially Hasbro. (I rent power ranger for a reason)
Because if mk releases figures, there is no reason for jada (in fact the only time mk and sf shared a figure company was...Hasbro in the 90s, and mk's figures did not have a stamp or dehgasbro or gijoe...out of fear) ...it's not like MK always has figures for sale... well something like that, yes, at least compared to other games, but still not enough for it to be a matter of time...someone will get it.
Give me a game accurate Kitana to go with my Chun-Li and I'll buy it.
I would be all in!! That would be amazing.
Man, that complaint about Ryu's skin tone is a crazy nitpick too.
i would like to get MK trilogy classic snes era MK figures.
I'd even throw Jazwares in the running tbh
Hasbro and Mattel are multi billion dollar international conglomerates. They make all kinds of products, not just action figures. Jada has a few good lines, but they are nothing compared to Hasbro/Mattel. They could easily buy Jada and absorb them
Hell yeah I been said that when I first heard that storm collectibles was losing the licenses let’s go Jada
Subtle Cursed Crate product placement
MK2 Sub-Zero and Scorpion. I'm not asking for much.
Cool, I'm going to save up for them...
I want to see more soul caliber
I might consider getting the MK characters after they complete SF first.
I'd buy every Jada MK figure if this happens. Fingers crossed!
