Nice video!
Kudos for pressing on and stripping those decals and sanding back and repainting. It takes perseverance. I recall one time when I had completely finished a Tamiya Mosquito, I went to hit it with a spray of flat coat and then realized when I started to spray that it was primer I had in my hand! So I had to strip the whole model and start again. But on the bright side I never made that mistake again.
Thanks for keeping the videos coming in theses trying times.
Cheers from Canada
Bob
I would never marry the 2 halves until I was happy with the track and wheel weathering
Mate! Respect for redoing it😮 My enforced isolation has let me have loads more time on my kits. I know practice makes perfect but your videos have improved my results ten fold. Many thanks for that🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Did you ever do Part 3 of this build? I've just built it and about to paint/weather would be great to see what you did. Cheers
Thanks for the tip on the green and yellow paint mix 👍
Great job, I appreciate your attention to detail. I served on tanks (Leopard C1) and stowage both exterior and interior was always of concern, the thought being to not create extra work down the road having to move items to fuel and maintain the vehicle. Also, with a fully stabilized turret poor stowage could cause damage or injury to the crew.
Awesome job abyway!
Damn that sucks about the decals! Sorry to see that happen.
On the .50 Cal
I was talking about the charging handle on the right side of the MG. It's used to cock the real weapon. On the kit supplied mg, It's the little piece of plastic, ( kind of a nub). I would remove that and place a piece similar one to those in the handles at the rear of the MG. Im sure your detail kit for the MG came with three.

looking good great video fully agree about tracks haha
Was there ever a Part 3 to this build?
Came out great!
Wow! Awesome looking Firefly, have that kit on the shelf. Both the Asuka Rye Field kits. Your Easy Eight is looking great. Looking forward to part 3. Hopefully you got the image and info for the .50 cal. Scroll down if you didn't.👍👍👍
It's not a firefly LOL
With Tamiya decals you need to use their Mark Fit decal solution.
Looks great
Instead of wasting actual boxes, use putty shaped in various ways if its going to be covered by tarps. Will also add weight to the tank
Yes, bought some Star decals for my Tamiya 1/35 Stuart build. They were extremely fragile. I got away with it, but will not be using them again. Cheers
Hi. What is the ratio of Dark Yellow to Olive Drab for your base color. It does look perfect for US Armor.
Looks great.
What was the ratio between olive drab and the xf-60?
would like to know that too...
Hi Jason .. when you do the tracks do you prime first ? as the first set i did on the first beginner build the paint started to flake off .. do you prime - paint - coat them ?
Yes it is best to wash them in warm soapy water, prime with a rattle can Primer or Mr surfacer etc then paint. Sometimes the issue is using thinners on them for oil and enamel washes, I’ve found this to react with the tracks on occasion. Overcoating after all this is really just fir the finish rather than protection
@@ChampionScaleModelling thanks for that .. just wanted to get it straight for the model i'm building at the moment
What's the ratio of paint mix for the green
I really don’t know how to paint the tank but I want to buy it😕
hey in part 1 of this video you used a razor saw to cut some plastic and then you used those nail clipper type cutters to snap some pieces off of the rear end of the cover. why? to use photo-etch instead?
Yes, you are correct. 👍👍 He removed the plastic molded-on kit fenders & replaced them with Eduard photo-etch fenders....then he removed the molded-on 'handles' & install grab handles that he made with wire. 😊
Dunno what the person was about when talking about the .50 caliber handle. He might have been referring to the quick-change barrel handle on the barrel of the gun. It's possible tank-mounted .50 cals didn't have that, since I haven't seen one in photos of an easy eight.
Nope, and that was me. I was talking about the charging handle on the right side of the MG. It's used to cock the weapon. It's the the little piece of plastic, ( kind of a nub). I would remove that and place a piece similar to those in the handles at the rear of the MG.

You see the charging handle right behind the ammo belt that's fed in. The handle is similar in appearance to the grips at the rear.
Sucks about the decals, I had the same problem with two sets of Star decals I purchased for my M-47 and M4A3.
Return rollers Jason 😜
Maybe it was in protest at being mispronounced? 😉 Great build though, really enjoying it.👍
Lego bricks (and bits of bricks) are cheaper than "proper"resin boxes. Covered with a tarp, who's to know?
Very sad about the aftermarket Star Decals. It sucks!
If it's a choice between a tube of putty and the last bog roll in the shop....well, sorry for the smell.
