Thanks for making me aware of this coin. Since they are sold out at the Dutch mint I had to pay up for one, perhaps overpay (almost $156 shipped), but it is nice coin and has already been graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo, which save some effort and expense. Being patient with these modern coins can sometimes allow for a lower price once the initial excitement dies down, but with only 5000 minted I did not want to take a chance. We'll see in time whether I was wise or foolish.
I liked it since Coin Couch showed it at the Berlin show. In the US we weren't allowed to buy from the Dutch mint. MCM just recently got a few and I picked one up from them. Should arrive today. Excited to see it.
Numistacker No I'm not going to grade it! It looks better in the box than slabbed! I'm not a firm believer in grading as you are. However I hope you get the PF70 for yours.
I'm surprised I'm not hearing about this coin like I did the Australian Silver Swan. This is a much more beautiful coin with a much lower mintage. I bought a raw coin and a graded PF 70 FDI.
I was late to the party but I did pick one up last week thru Apmex for $22.00. I think it would be interesting to get it graded. I loved this coin the moment I saw it.
Hi Numi. The proof lion dollar has a small Mark with "925 " next to the word CON and the Dutch guys are checking with the mint why this is. I managed to get one only now. Keep you posted.
I absolutely believe that the Dutch Lion Dollar will be a winner. The coin has been over-looked, or perhaps over-shadowed, due to the release of other anniversary coins such as the 50th Anniversary Krugerrand, first Silver Krugerrand, the 200th Gold Sovereign, the Queen's Beasts series, Proof Britannias, and other prominent series that have really taken a hold of the coin collecting market. The Dutch Lion Dollar signifies an important history of silver coins that were circulated all around the world including the US for trade centuries ago. The Royal Dutch Mint has also minted a 2 oz Silver Lion Dollar with a low mintage of around 200, they minted 200 1 oz Gold Lion Dollars, and a mere 10! 2 oz Gold Lion Dollars. I am hoping to get an original circulated Lion Dollar, which I believe will sell for around $400. I saw one at The Coin Vault website, but I talked to a rep at MCM Scarce and Unique Coin Division and he told me that there will be a graded set that includes an original Lion Dollar slabbed, a 1 oz Silver Lion Dollar, hopefully a 2 oz Silver Lion Dollar slabbed, and a 1 oz Gold Lion Dollar. MCM has no idea if they will be able to get a hold of the 2 oz gold Lion Dollar, but since there are only 10 of those, that will be an insurmountable feat to acquire. Great presentation and thanks for sharing. Btw, the last I checked, MCM was selling the OGP Dutch Silver Lion Dollars. I am not sure if they are sold out yet or not. So American collectors should consider going to their website to check that out.
CORRECTION: There will only be 100 of the 1 oz Gold Dutch Lion Dollars minted. Here is a link with the mintage for each Lion Dollar in the 1 oz Silver, 2 oz Silver, 1 oz Gold, and 2 oz Gold. news.coinupdate.com/the-netherlands-lion-daalder-reborn-in-new-gold-and-silver-bullion-coins/
You're right it's sold out now. That stinks. Hopefully there will be some graded options soon. Try this website. I purchased this coin from this dealer. www.thecoinvault.com/p-11006-2017-lion-dollar-1-oz-9999-silver-ngc-pf70-uc-first-day-of-issue.aspx
Beautiful coin... Saw an NGC slabbed version here in Singapore, but backed off because of the price... Looks like a high potential coin... Would have been interesting to purchase a small gold proof version of this, but the 1 oz only had a mintage of 100... Very tough to find, and very tough on the wallet :) Wishing you continued prosperity and success my friend. Cheers!
that's a beautiful coin it's definitely a winner I would think so but who am I right I'm trying to learn from what you buy and shadow stack. starting to go with the winners and not buy just to buy silver or gold. have a safe trip numi.
very nice coin I have been looking for them sence I saw cc vid on the coin fair I would love to get one I figure they are not cheep thanks for the up close and personal
Did you see the special label that LPM got for these. I was gonna send one to grade myself but that label is awesome. So I just ordered a pf70 from them on presale.
Numistacker I know they definently won't give it. It's LPM only label from NGC Hong Kong. I was just saying I didn't send any to grade because I bought 2 PF70 labeled ones on pre sale from LPM
Hey Shaolin! It's been a while (It's Jester from the Forums). Check out NY Coin & Bullion. They've got the NGC PF70 UC with the special label for $149.00 shipped. I picked one up earlier today.
Hello from Florida... this is my new favorite coin. It's beautiful and majestic.

Since you really like this coin I'd recommend the 2017 Austria €20 Maria Theresa coin.
Thanks for that recommendation
I was late to the party but I did pick one up last week thru Apmex for $22.00. I think it would be interesting to get it graded. I loved this coin the moment I saw it.
They have done a great job recreating the design, lovely coin. It's nice to see something from a different mint.
If the dutch make stuff like this maybe worth watching out for
Hi Numi. The proof lion dollar has a small Mark with "925 " next to the word CON and the Dutch guys are checking with the mint why this is. I managed to get one only now. Keep you posted.

I was looking for them about a month ago I gave up looking for a good price. They are beautiful
The only place i saw then was in Netherlands but that worked just about

Did you see the special label that LPM got for these. I was gonna send one to grade myself but that label is awesome. So I just ordered a pf70 from them on presale.
Shaolin Stacker I will request but most special labels are MCM only or for big bulk submissions... the nicest ones are usually exclusive
Numistacker I know they definently won't give it. It's LPM only label from NGC Hong Kong. I was just saying I didn't send any to grade because I bought 2 PF70 labeled ones on pre sale from LPM
