A fanbase is always more electric after a period of ineptitude because the fans release all their disappointment and channel it in the form of their cheering
My white sox had that kinda atmosphere last year in game 3. 13 years without a postseason birth and game 3 was just simply electric no other word to describe it. Happy to see the Phillies shove it to the Astros I’m loving it!
Most of those Houston fans weren't around when their team was struggling. These Philly fans have been through it these past years, and that frustration is coming out this post season
@@BiggestPLANTS obviously you haven’t been to a Philadelphia sports game before. Didn’t matter from 08-10 when the were in the World Series twice and nlcs 3 times… the crowd was electric every game. There is no crowd like a Philadelphia playoff game. I’ve been to all 4 and atleast one championship in each sport. It’s always insanity

Looking back at it this was the absolute peak of the miraculous playoff run. We all were thinking after this game that this team was just gonna be too much for Houston to contain and then they went and no hit them the next night. Im still sad about it but at least I can come back and watch these highlights

That intentional walk to Schwarber to face Hoskins who blasted a homer on the first pitch lit a 🔥 that hasn't gone out.
Schwarber and Hoskins were literally a combined 1-71 before that bomb and bat slam. Utter insanity ever since.

So as someone who’s not too versed in the subbing strategies of bullpen’s, Was there any reason why Houston just let Mccullers jr. take his lumps and keep getting homer’d on? I’m curious? I feel like at some point by like homer 3 they should’ve pulled the plug.
They gave up on this game and didn’t want to stress their bullpen
Possibly just eat the loss and save the bullpen. Actually looks like the right move after putting up 0. HR could also just be looked at as paying for a mistake and shrugged off, but McCullers didn't look good.
if youre not scoring runs doesnt matter if you lose by 1 or lose by 20, ultimately theirs still atleast 2 more games to this series and Dusty saw the writing on the walls early for this game, he puts a bunch of relievers in the try keep the game close that early on he wont have them properly rested to hold a lead of keep the game close when its critical. winning a battle is nice but winning the war is what matters.

@@KB-ke3fi I think that most old time Dodgers fans (like my mother who remembers them from the 60's) would have preferred that the Phillies beat the Astros because they still associate this Astros team with the 2017 cheating team. But those who understand the game realize that this 2022 Astros team won the title honestly, without cheating, and deserves respect. After all, only a small handful of players is left from the tainted 2017 team, and most of the Astros who designed the system (like Beltran, Hinch), and who benefited the most from the cheating (players like Marisnick and Gonzalez, whose OPS increases were statistically impossible) are long gone. The 2017 Championship will always be tainted, like the Home Run achievements of Bonds, Sosa and McGwire. But any serious fan knows that at the very least, the Astros have been playing straight up, without cheating since the MLB Report in 2020 (and perhaps since the second half of 2018). From that perspective, you have to feel good for Altuve, who is truly talented (and who Correia said was angry at those who were cheating in 2017) - perhaps his legacy will be different and he will be considered for the Hall of Fame unlike the steroid users. You also have to feel good for the Astros fans who deserve a real championship, one that isn't tainted by cheating like 2017.

All five homers and seven runs scored before McCullers, Jr. was finally pulled from the game. The Astros were really giving up with him on the mound before they finally did the smart thing in pulling him.
Wondering why Baker left him in the game so long when the Astros have one of the top bullpens in the league. He clearly didn't have his best stuff. 🤔 Fine with me because the Phillies are crushing him.
I always liked Baker, being he's been in the league for so long. But this game made me think less of him as a manager for sure. The pitcher was clearly tipping pitches. Even the announcers knew

Even as a Phillies fan I was saying to myself "They're sending this guy out for another inning with that bullpen?" That's really what gets me. If you have a bullpen you can't rely on then maybe you let it ride but not when you have a pen like the Astros.

Well it's easy when the Houston pitcher was tipping his pitches. And when I think of Philadelphia, I think of what a great city it used to be.
The Phillies were great and embarrassed the Astros. 5 HR, 7 RBI, 11 SO! WHO WOULD EXPECTED SUCH A CLEAR RESULT. I'm disappointed to be honest. Phanatic also delivered again :-) After the 5th the hot stove time started (the most stressful time of the year for fans)
