- Fighting type Pokemon are very powerful in terms of attacking power, but quite rare and have poor defensive capabilities... can they beat Emerald's hardest challenge!?
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Emerald Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Fighting types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Well, it's not CZcamsr boxing... but perhaps it's close enough.
Don't forget to click that Subscribe button if you haven't already, it really helps the channel a lot!
You should water types only in Pokémon sword cause kingdra is in the dlc
Quick question. I watch a lot your vids. In the later generation I see you don't really use mega or max evolution that much. Is there a specific reason or is that for difficulty?
I think you put the wrong pic of watsons team :D great video as usual
Wait how did you trade evolve machop without connecting to other games?
@@antoniolara9004 it's for difficulty, he uses it rarely
Silph used Rock Tomb 6 times and only hit once. The chance of him hitting all six rock tombs is 26% chance. Not great but he only really needed two to get a KO on Altaria. The chance of him missing 5 out of 6 rock tombs is 0.026% chance. That's some really sh*t luck.
He gets a lot of bad luck with pokemon natures as well
I missed 6 rock tombs in a row on a caterpie recently. That was fun
@@Rose-ew7bv rip
@@jsoyinka nah it was fine, it just used string shot a bunch
That's literally almost shiny odds
24:10 JSYK, Jennifer has a Sableye and not a Milotic in Emerald. GameFreak actually nerfed her after apparently realizing Milotic in the rain might be a bit much to handle. (The Milotic returns in ORAS.)
I just love Emerald nuzlockes and I also love Silph content! Win win
So true
Exactly
Preach it brother
I see this as an absolute win
Silph makes me feel like I’m playing too😂
Missed opportunity to name the Torchic “ken” cause he’s a fiery chic-ken 😔
Dude! You read my mind on naming that Medicham Akuma. I was thinking, "since it's an event Meditite, ya might as well name him Akuma." Bro. Brilliant.
Black Belt Nob is actually present in many games since Gen2 (the first one in which the trainers had names). He is one of Chuck's Gym trainers in GSC, he has a Machoke with Rock Slide, which could only be learned by this mon in Gen1. He is a Hiker in FR/LG and this Black Belt in RSE.
Nob happened to be the game's original translator iirc, and his way to be included in the game was as a fighting type trainer, his favorite type.
Later the franchise decided to part ways with him but you can see Nob on every game from Gen2 to Gen4.
The amount of times you say “not good” and “oh man” in a weird stressed voice is quite astounding. Like in absolutely every single video of yours. definitely those are your catchphrases.
Sunday Monday or Tuesday, it's always a good time to watch a Silph Nuzlocke!!! Also, Fighting type are one of my fav
I thought it was over when Medicham missed rock tomb 5 times 💀 by the way silph you’re a beast. Great run!
Crazy how losing one team member can fuck up the entire run/make battles way harder than they need to be. Losing breloom was a huge blow and could've trivialized a few battles.
Very solid run! I didn't even know about that Meditite encounter method so that was a pleasant surprise. It was a good effort with Steven at the end. Skarmory was the most annoying there. It usually is even under Winona too. The Liza Tate sweep was the most hilarious thing because you have fighting types.
i want to try that too but could not find how to claim it via event
I love the fact that you do a bit of studying ( or refreshing) before each nuzlocke to give the best possible outcome for each one...and the commentary is great too!!
Yaaay, new video!
Have you ever considered doing a randomized nuzlocke run?
Stay tuned! 😉
If it isnt 100% accurate it is 50% accurate. Or in the case of Rock Tomb appearently 20% accurate
Gotta say, I always love seeing you find ways to throw in encounters you wouldn't have access to otherwise! The Meditite thing was really, really cool
Just wanted to let you know as someone battling with health problems and has pretty major anxiety because of that, I love when your videos come out. The nature, humor, and mood of them help chill my anxiety. Thanks for the content and as a huge Pokémon fan I’m glad I found this channel
Keep your head up, you're a champion.
After 29 years I FINALLY went to someone and got diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety within the last five months. If you haven't, rewatch his videos. It's very therapeutic in the background for me while I work so hopefully it helps chill and relax you too!
I was literally screaming at this Rock Tomb missing Medicham the whole damn time like crazy. Love all the runs, Sir. 👏👏
So good I had to watch it more than once. Thank you Silph! You're so fantastic! Always a valiant effort and I appreciate you!
Thanks to your videos, I'm really tempted to try an hardcore nuzzlock for the first time.
You're the only nuzzlocker I watch. Entertaining, and great edition of the video!
When setting up Guts before Brawly, I tend to just fish up a Tentacool and let it use poison sting. Saves you the trip back.
Also, depending on your in game trades rules, I think Slakoth can be a valid encounter in Petalburg Woods since it can be traded for a Makuhita in Rustboro.
You can't trade a Slakoth for Makit in Emerald, sadly.
@@othamneil8958 ah, got confused with Ruby Sapphire. Still, makes the Petalburg encounter guaranteed to be Shroomish so it all works out

Silph, have you ever thought about making a nuzlocke but instead of making it a mono type nuzlocke, you only use pokemon that have their total stats bellow a certain number?Like below 500 or so
This would be great
Ferrothorn: whomst has awakened the ancient one
When Silph, Chaotic Meatball, and Antlerboy all upload within 30 minutes of each other... what's a man to do??
Wait, for real? I didn't realize I was unsubscribed from the other two so thank you for making the announcement!
Great run! Also for whatson you could have directly used vital throw on voltorb, as it oneshots. With lower hp from fake out he was more likely to use self destruct.
I love your nuzlockes! They got me into playing my own and I am always stoked when you upload a new one
19:52 isn't low kick stricly better here? 120 power against slaking if I am not mistaken.
I was thinking the same thing so I looked it up and it's 100 power against Slaking, but that still does the same damage as a crit from Karate Chop. Low Kick is def the smarter move here to avoid crit luck.
Here a little tip: using blocks in the Safari zone you can catch heracross with a 99% catchrate, there are tutorials that explain how to do that. Hope it helps for the upcoming nuzlockes! I think it works with all pokemons in the Safari zone
A big THANK YOU to you, Silph, for the consistent and amazing content. The great stuff from you helps put a smile on my face through rough times
Another great vid! I would love to see you attempt a PLA nuzlocke! I think it would be so cool to see you play it and how you'd approach the challenge! 🙂
Thank you for taking your time and making these videos. You are an amazing person and we all appreciate you ❤️
Fun fact: black belt Nob is actually a cameo who has made appearances in all gens leading up to Diamond and Pearl (correct me if I’m wrong) he is the person responsible for translating all the Pokémon games to English! And to show appreciation, Game Freak gave him a cameo as a black belt, though he said he wasn’t much of a martial artist and more of a hiker, I think in OR/AS or Platinum (again, correct me if I’m wrong) he was changed to a Hiker, more fitting to his actual interests.
Was waiting to get home from work just to watch this as soon as I got the notification, was not disappointed.
I'd love to see Silph do a soul-link with PokemonChallenges!
Love the content!

You don't need to go all the way back, you can poison guts makuhota for brawly on wild tentacool if you fish north of dewford
Another fantastic episode, I really enjoy your videos. Emerald is also my favourite game. Can't wait until the next nuzlocke!
Yessss!! The way I’ve been craving a new video like a would die without it!! 😭🙌🏾
33:12 Remindes me of a pokemon showdown match I recently had. My Blastoise got paralyzed by Togekiss, Blastoise missed toxic, got air Slash flinched twice in a row, got fully paralyzed. My Metagross switches in, gets Paralyzed, and gets paraflinched for 2-3 turn... This is fake. This happened yesterday.
Awesome content every time! I love using your videos for tutorials and trying these nuzlockes 💪
A really fun one! loved the mystery encounter, didn't know about it
I didn't realize the channel was already over 200k subscribers. Congrats! Can't wait to watch the channel grow even more!
“You pulled it off with a plum”

Love the runs. A fun idea that you could do for each game would be a starters only HCN. Just torchic mudkip and treeco at level cap for the whole run
The entire end of the game had me on my toes 😂😅 when u fought Wallace with 3 pokemon and Steven with 2 I didn't think you'd do as well as u did
Finally, a set of nickname references I get. Great video!
I’m 18 years old and I find you hilarious. I love Pokémon again because of you. Thanks man.
Love fighting types so this was a treat. Also happy birthday street fighter!!! (Jp release August 30th 1987)
Missed naming opportunities
Blaziken: Ken
Breloom: Balrog or Dudley
Heracross: Chun-li
Medicham: dhalsim
Who is Webb by the way?
@@othamneil8958 no idea. 🤷🏾♂️
Rewatching your runs is always a favorite pastime of mine.
Silph is a great nuzlocker. Keep it up Silph!
Silph vids r amazing. The fighting type is sick, and also, nice naming theme
I don't know but unfiltered Silph against mr. Briney absolutely killed me! 😂😂
dude i watched most of your videos and your are my favorite nuzlocker keep up the good work
Idk if this is a thing done before but a nuzlock I've been doing is catching the first of each type I come across with evolutions included, so like if playing gen 1 and you get charmander you can't get anymore fire or flying types because charizard is a flying type. The hard version is the types you catch are the only ones you can get for the whole run.
Have been on a marathon watching your videos, and now watching the latest video
Great content man!
Did you accidentally skip over double kick by any chance bc combusken should’ve learned it on evolution
I was thinking this same thing. It learns it when it evolves at level 16.
Great run as always! I wonder how much longer you can avoid the gen 7 games tho 😛 you've gotta give them a go at some point and when you do I know loads of us will look forward to seeing some nerve-wracking sketchy runs!
i dont blame him tbh gen 7 feels awful to play through even if the battles are cool
@@lmaolol7702 it's definitely different but also so challenging esp Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon with the Totem Togedemaru battle yikes run killer big time!

If I'm not mistaken you could've taught Ice Punch to Medicham through the Move Rememberer for an easier Drake with Calm Mind setup + Ice Punch.
I'm also trying this challenge, currently on my fourth attempt after wiping to Tate and Liza as I did not know you can add Medicham to Emerald through a niche event (thanks for the insane tip tough). Superb video!
It's official; Rock Tomb hates Akuma.
My fondest memories of gen 3 include being the first game I completed the dex in, as well as not knowing about thief so I caught like 100 luvdisc for heart scales
The fact that Honda from Streetfighter has his main special move which is basically Arm Thrust and that Makuhita has it is pure unintentional genius I'm sure 😅👌 love it!
MAN SILPH AND ANTLER IN THE SAME DAY? Thank you for the serotonin
Just a friendly reminder, double kick would have done more than peck, using combusken at least, for the mons that are only 2x weak to flying and neutral to fighting and you get fighting stab. Goes to show that just because it’s super effective doesn’t mean it’ll do the most damage out of your options.
Edit: just watched a bit farther into the video and actually paid attention and realized you leveled past double kick and my comment was mostly for brawly but the calcs stay consistent anyways.
Silph could you please do a final segment where you decide which Pokémon was the MVP of the run? I think it would be really cool to hear your opinions and who you thought really carried the team the most, most of all i love your videos! they’ve gotten me to start nuzlocking myself, and truly making play throughs amazing for me again 🙏🏻
Zangief really carried with that Muscle Power! Great run as always!
Hey Silph! I had an idea for a challenge run that I think is really cool, and Id be absolutely thrilled if you tried it out!
I call it the MagicLocke (Partially named after me, and partially named after the challenge, you'll see why)
The MagicLocke is a typical Nuzlocke, but with a couple added rules.
1. You can't use a pokemon with a base Special Attack stat more than 60 in battle (Or 60 base Special in gens 1 and 2)
2. You can't use any physical move, only special moves that have 70 power or less
3. (Optional) To make things a bit easier, if you're doing this in gens 1-3, you are allowed one physical move on only one pokemon that's either Ground or Fighting. This is because you will literally have no super effective moves against Electric, Normal, or Dark type pokemon.
4. (Optional) For an extra challenge, you can force yourself to use Struggle until you have access to a special move.
I think this is a really interesting challenge, especially in gens 1-3, because Normal, Poison, Flying, Bug, Rock, Ghost, and Steel type moves are completely off-limits (And Ground and Fighting, if you choose to ignore the lifeline rule). This makes the very early game especially hard, because very few pokemon have moves that aren't normal or flying type.
It would mean a TON if you try this challenge, because I did my best to come up with some good rules to make it interesting. If you want to make it even more challenging, you could do it with hardcore Nuzlocke rules as a base, rather than a regular Nuzlocke.
BANGER ALERT!! looking forward to this one, as i do any other time you upload :)
Bro , you’re my go to channel when I’m stoned just wanted to say thank you
Love the vids man!
Advice for future runs: use status effect early in battles. Against Manectric you should start with leech seed then go for flinches with headbutt.
I think once you beat the E4 and they heal your team, the death rule should be lifted for "bonus champ fights"
You're the champion now, get ya team back.
12:17 when you’re so sleep deprived you put the rematch team and not the original one
Kecleon only run? Lots of fun hurdles to overcome in that run
thank you very much silph!! you`re the man! great challenge, I enjoyed it so so much! your challenges are always well played, sure you`re one of the best poketubers!

Let’s go! So stoked to watch this (:
I got my hands on pokemon games really late (2007) but Emerald was the 3rd game I got to play, and it was by far my favorite. I always had a tough time picking my team early on because I always pick the fire type starter and I LOVED shroomish as much as the guy in Petalburg woods. It was also the first generation where the grass starter was my absolute favorite, so my team always had 2 fighting types or 2 grass types 🙄
Been a while since you last uploaded a video bro. As usual, great content and very fun and intense to watch! Keep it up!
Shot on iPhone Meme -- czcams.com/video/1l45opfsh3A/video.html
Lmao that picture you used to show Watson I was like wait he doesn’t have level 40 mons right then realized that was the rematch one
Looking at the title I’m thinking oh yeah! A Blaziken! Too easyyy. Love the content bro
Great vid!!
Will you ever do a Sinnoh true power tournament? :D
I remember spending hours trying to catch Shroomish for that guy in the forest because my buddy says he’ll trade me a good Pokemon for it. Boy was I a gullible kid…
just found these videos from silph and i am a lifelong fan now!
Street Fighter nerd here. Wouldn't Ken have been a better name for your starter? Not only does the color match better, but fire and kicking are Ken's thing as well
Using Ryu instead of Ken for torchic gave me psychic damage. Anyways great run as always
As always, great video! Feels like the Steven is definitively possible, but this was a run with a lot of weird luck and misfortune… X-D

The voice of Pokémon with another banger, my day is made
6:27
I didnt expect it to be uncensored
Silph videos and on a long train
Holy...this is going to be good
LET'S GO BABY!!! SILPH SPECTER UPLOAD!!!
fighting can definitley be done, ice and dark type elit four members. and norman being a normal type gym leader, probably the hardest gym in game.
I feel like this one should be pretty easy tbh in comparison to your others
If Silph does another Fighting Hardcore Nuzlocke and fights an Altaria, he has to reference how that very thing was the bane of this run's existence. Also,a genuine surprise to get a Silph video but hey it's a Silph video so I'll take it
I love the Street Fighter naming theme
Just a little trivia, Black Belt Nob and Hiker Nob in the Fire Red/ Leaf Green and Let's Go games are a tribute to Nob Ogasawara, main translator of the franchise through Platinum.
Merrill the real MVP going against a beastly claydol knowing damn well it could barely tickle it 😂
Rock Tomb having 80% accuracy at the time was crazy, plus low 50 attack!? Glad they fixed it afterwards and made it usable
this is actually hilarious bc I'm currently doing a Fighting run in ORAS (only in Alpha Sapphire)! we always seem to be doing the same type run at the same time lmao
I’m doing a fire run in Alpha Sapphire
Hey Silph, have you ever thought of doing challenges just using your favorite pokemon rather than specific types? That'd be fun to watch!
I love these videos! Keep up the good work
I get so excited every time I see another Silph video!
"She's attracted to her pokemon...what a weirdo"
Ahh yes that is weird *nervously looks over at browser history*
The slogan for your nuzlockes might as well be "but they lived on 1hp"
The only Pokértuber I’m subbed to🐲🤝 always great content
Grinding for Heart scales to use the move tutor to teach medicham ice punch and thunder punch woulda seriously helped you out.
