    In this video, we explain the differences between RAW and Store Bought or Ultra-Processed honey (Please take the time to read the article in the link below, very informative). The store bough honey all taste the same. Local honey has unique flavors you will NOT find in store bought corporation honey. Always, if you can, buy from a local beekeeper. You support a declining business and helps support a local person or small business. Good article to read:

    Thank you for the great video! It’s always nice to see someone getting the info on honey out there to the general public. As this is my first year as a hobby beekeeper, I have learned a lot. And I will have to say that not all honey straight out of the hive is cloudy. I was fortunate enough to harvest 43 pounds from my 3 hives last month. And it is crystal clear. I scraped it straight off the frames, through a strainer to catch most of the wax and right into a 5 gallon bucket. From there straight into the jars. 😋 Keep up the great work!

    It absolutely does pretty much cure allergies to grass and pollens in you area. I had issues until I was in my 20s when a guy at a local country store told me about eating a table spoon of local honey every day. it makes sense because the honey is exposing you to tiny amounts of pollen from plants in the area and if you take allergy shots supposedly it's exposing you in a similar way to build immunity to what ever you are allergic to.

I just bought some honey from Metropolitan Market, its raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized wildflower honey from the PNW and it cost me almost $13 but it was worth it. • @technician775
      @technician775  Před 3 lety +19

      Hi, not sure if you will find that exact term, but unfiltered is close to what the beekeeper is trying to say. All honey processing will go thru a type of "filtration" of sorts. We have to be able to separate the bee parts and bits of wax. Most use a clarification stage, the honey is left for a bit for the wax and debris to float to the top and it is pumped or drained from the bottom, then it is run thru a rough or very porous filter media, kinda like being strained vs a very fine mesh. We use a filer media that lets the pollen go thru but stops the bits of wax. I hope this helps. Just look for unfiltered, this is common in the honey world. Steve

    • @immortalsofar5314
      @immortalsofar5314 Před 3 lety +9

      "Raw honey" is what to look for. All honey is rough filtered (we used cheese cloth) to remove wax caps, stray grubs and whatever else might be on the frame. Commercial keepers have to heat it to a certain temperature despite its antibacterial properties but local, small scale keepers take it from the frame to a bucket and the bucket to the jar. We used to sell our surplus for $10/jar (and demand always outstripped supply) just to cover what we had to buy to look after the hives. Also, we left them 2 deeps plus honey-bee-healthy cakes to see them through the winter naturally. We had happy bees and you could taste the difference!

      Hi, you are welcome!.....and should be good honey..........honey can be from a very light color to an almost black color. Depends on several factors, 1., the nectar and time of the year, spring is a light and beautiful honey, close to the end of summer or into fall here, it will be a darker color and very strong flavor. if the beekeeper uses a dark pulled comb frame for the bees to store honey in, the honey will pick up some of the dark colors of the wax or some of the pollen etc. Usually a light honey is light on the flavor profile, a dark honey has a strong taste. Different people like it for different reasons. We have customers who will ask for a specific flavor profile, if we can we will. Hope this helps ! @@bigqwertycat I learned this in USAF Medical Laboratory Technician School, & have read it many times since. Sorry, I haven't practiced in some time. I suggest you research further, & try something other than Google. Or at least read more than the top Google suggestion. I will tell you that the pollen is the key. It gives your body light doses of allergens, etc, which helps to activate the body's immune system. This is the same premise of how vaccines were originally created. I believe the COVID vaccines are GMO, though. I've been out of the lab for 20 years. Things have changed dramatically.

    Yes sir! What you are teaching us is about purity and quality. That doesn’t fit into the economics of mass production for profit.
    They use a lot of manipulative words like 100% honey, pure, raw but all inferior to what you explained.
    Thank you Steve!

    Thank you so much for the superb video! It's always encouraging to see someone spreading the information about honey to the general public. I used geohoney organic honey and am very pleased with the taste and quality.
