I love the reason for swallowing the wax being the appreciation of how precious it is
Fifth House - Or one could save it and make beeswax candles. Pure beeswax candles are normally pretty expensive.

What I love about honey is how the taste can change based on the flowers in the area, the time of harvest and the type of boxes.

Daniel von Strangle wait, wait, wait, honey doesn't only come from honeybees?? I'm confused now-
@@kieranlee0325 there is a honey made from psychoactive flowers that is as potent as shrooms
@@kieranlee0325 actually there's something called melata and miele di melata (melata honey) in italian. Melata (I think in English is called honeydew) is a secretion some bug make and it's eaten. But here melata honey (honey made by the bees using melata. In short bee's secretion made of another bug's secretion) is eaten instead of just melata
My favourite where I live is 'miel de sapin', 'pine tree honey' in English. It's caramelly and intense!
I love how respectful and appreciative you are when it comes to eating the wax along with the honey, calling it “precious stuff”. It so is! Bees work so hard! 🐝 🌸

Technically bees are the most important insects in the world, without them we would be screwed up
@Ahmed M Without bees, the planet would be in ALOT of trouble. We literally need them to exist.
@@ginamoncada78 Other insects can also do the pollination, even mosquitoes (I hate getting bit by them but the males are generally harmless). Bees are important to the environment because of their easy pollination and also for having a great byproduct called honey. Which sells for quite a bit. If honeybees do go extinct, other insects will be farmed for pollination (like some ant species) but it'd be a shame that we won't have honey anymore or the fact that we have to adapt to other species of animal to pollination fruit/vegetable flowers.
Honeycomb in your hot tea is so good when you have a cold with a persistent cough. The honeycomb melts and it floats a bit, like melted butter. It's so soothing for your throat.
When I have had a really sore throat while sick or with a cold, honey diluted in tea is not enough when my throat is bad, as even liquids are painful. I'll just eat a spoonful(s) of plain honey. It's the only thing that will soothe my throat (even more than cough drops)---although it is just temporary.
Yesss
@SpaceWafer haha natural remedies can go hand in hand with modern medicine! I'd drink naturally soothing lemon and honey if I had a cold but that won't stop me from being vaccinated against measles, nor would it stop me from getting chemotherapy should I ever need it. There's a place for both in our society, something I feel like some anfi-vaxxers need to understand.
@@ikathiggs13 such a wholesome response
Oni-Waffles nah, just people who prefer honey over medicine coz it tastes better
Bees are frigging amazing. We've got to do everything we can to protect them.
@Hofe Thare Well, that's a loaded question! But in some ways, yes it's not helpful, after all we are taking their food source. However, there are much bigger issues bees face in the form of pesticide use in mass agriculture which are far more damaging to bees and other pollinators not to mention the environment. While there are other pollinators many of them are more specialised and do less work when it comes to pollinating, so wipe out bees would cause huge problems with agriculture both large and small scale. But back to buying honey: you are more likely doing more harm buying honey from a large scale commercial/industrial brand, where like any commercial industry, the practice and work ethics might not be very good. You may find the bees are fed sugar solutions, selective breeding means a less diverse population and some companies will 'water' down the finished honey, so what you are buying is not pure honey. There will be more of a 'bottle it and sell it and make profit' mentality and less interest in the bees well being (Yet at the same time, the more bees there are, the better -more bees = more pollination). If you like honey it would be an idea to buy local or from small producers and farmers, and feel free to ask them about their practices - they're far more likely to have better and more ethical bee keeping methods and so much more care taken when it comes to the well being of the bees and hives.
MD Bees don’t eat honey, they use it to grow the fungus they eat.
@@Miquelalalaa Um, I'm not sure what you mean? What fungus?
Worker bees collect nectar and pollen, if they need fuel they can access the nectar chamber and feed themselves. On return the nectar is transferred to the hive bees where they continue to pass it from bee to bee until it becomes honey when it is then stored in the honeycomb segments which are sealed shut with wax secreted from the workers. Honey is used as food source esp in winter in areas where bees may not be able to collect nectar and pollen. Pollen is eaten by nurse bees and then secreted out as royal jelly and fed to young bees. The queen also feeds on royal jelly. Pollen is also stored in chambers known as bee bread and this mixed with honey and enzymes are also a food source for the bees.
SO, yes bees eat honey and also have various other food sources as well, nectar, pollen, beebread and royal jelly depending on the bee and it's role in the hive. Unless, when you say 'the fungus they eat' you are referring to one of those items, I'm not sure what you mean.
MD i knew it getting honey from farms are always better
Taste better too LOL gotta go to a farm again in the summer or spring
@@aerrrrrr Not sure where you live, but if there's a farmers market near you, try them as they often have local honey producers or try local delis or wholefood stores. Supermarket honey is okay and often cheaper but less unique in flavour and runs risk of being not 100% pure. Honey is the third most adulterated food...but local is generally better!

One of my uncles was a beekeeper when I was growing up and his family always had at least one honeycomb from his hives on the kitchen counter to snack on. All we needed was a clean finger or spoon to scoop up a serving into our greedy mouths. Once in a while, we'd get a honeycomb to take home along with the customary, for our family, one or two half-gallon paint cans of pure fresh honey for our home. One of those would last about four to six months. In fact, we couldn't eat the hiney fast enough as the opened can would start to crystallize to where it would look like brown sugar. It was still good but it had to be heated up so it could be poured over whatever we wanted to sweeten up. Fresh honeycomb is a treat that has to be eaten at least once in a person's life.

I was hoping Emmy would take small tastes of different parts of the comb she had to see if it had different flavors.
I had read someone describing how different parts of the same honeycomb can taste different, which makes sense because bees may be coming back from different kinds of flowers in the same local area. That same account mentioned sometimes you can see differences in the color of the same comb. So if you see a piece that has dark and light areas, it doesn’t mean it’s gone bad, but rather the honey in those sections are a little different to each other and will taste different!
Thanks for sharing this fantastic information. I like to think that I have a sensitive palette and can scope out ingredients and variances in flavor pretty well. I have not tried honeycomb yet, but I will keep this in mind!

@@stevent8362 unless you collect wild honey, you should never be able to buy a comb with larvae, since beekeepers use separators to prevent the queen from getting into the combs

I had no idea that was even a thing? I assumed the same batch of honey would taste the same as soon as it was produced by the bees as it would when it was harvested, or even after months of storage since it’s supposed to be completely stable? I had a surgical incision that would not heal, and I started packing it with medical grade manuka honey. I had developed an allergy to neomycin trying to heal that darn wound, from using it so long, but the honey healed it in a few weeks. I also recommend it for skinned knees or deep cuts, you just want to avoid getting it on in tact skin under the gauze or bandage as much as possible. It was amazing!
This makes me want to try a grilled cheese made with Gruyère and honeycomb.
That would be kinda sweet savory and salty with a charref tastw depending on how long you grilled. I wouldn't wanna try it but up to you if you like cheese and honey together.

Amazing, I haven't had fresh honey comb in years! My mama used to go every summer and buy a quart jar of fresh, local raw honey. Mama would divide the honey comb between us. It was always mawmaw, mama, myself and my little sister that would eat it. My daddy and bubba hated it, they always said the texture was gross.

I recieved a honey basket for a present one day and it had 8 different kinds of honey from around the world. Some honey's tasted more floral, some tasted too sweet, some tasted citrusy (like Emma described), and some had a fantastic nutty flavor to them. Those were the ones I loved the best. My sister isn't fond of honey either, yet she enjoyed the nutty flavored kind. I can't remember the name of the honey, but I hope one day you get to try it. I don't like the honey thats in the bear containers, it's always too sweet for me, but some other ones have always been pleasant. If I find out the name I'll be sure to let you know.

I never liked it. Then I tried sourwood honey from a local keeper... Roan Mountain honey. Oh man, whole other level. Its really good. I've not found another honey I like.
This was satisfying to watch . I now want to try honey with cheese and toast
Count on Emmy to have a video for like every food i’m curious about eating or trying ❤️😂😂😂
*Thank you to all that answered my question. This conversation has gotten crazy haha but I appreciate the kind and educational answers that some of you gave me. I honestly don’t judge the Vegan life style so, as I said in the comments of this, I hope I didn’t upset anyone with my confusion. 💛💛💛💛
I can understand why Vegans don’t eat dairy and stuff, but I never understood why they won’t eat honey 🤔 No hate, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Anyone have any insight? 🐝🍯
Jamie Lamie being they don't eat anything from a animal and they think bees are tortured when really bees live there best life being taken care of if they weren't they'd be extinct vegans just don't understand that.
Kay Apparently. I’ve heard of bee keepers mistreating their bees because...that would literally be counter productive haha.
Satsuma I probably should’ve clarified that I was talking about the ones that don’t eat it. Like I said, I totally understand dairy being an issue because even if you didn’t mind the idea of products like that, it can be very difficult to find dairy places that don’t seem cruel in a way if that makes sense. The honey thing I don’t think will ever make sense to me.
There are some practices in commercial beekeeping that can be seen as cruel an unnecessary, such as: clipping queens wings, population culls before harvesting of honey. Veganism is also about the non-exploitation of all animals, so that may be a factor as well.
I admit that i don't understand the honey making and harvesting practice but for a while i refused to eat honey because i felt like we were stealing the poor bees food and hardwork. Are you supoosed to leave them some of the honey to eat? Bees are magical and their honey combs are amazing. I've been tempted to buy one and eat it but I feel guilty.
Watching her chew things and explain what she eats...makes me happy😁😁😁😬😬😬
You could not be cuter! My girls and I are learning about bees and honeycomb for zoology right now and found your video. I love how you pointed out and explained a bit about how the honeycomb was made. Thanks Emmy!
I love seeing how excited you get trying new things.
I guess you can say you're the bee knees. Get it bee-cause we're talking about bees
Ok i'll leave bee-fore i can buzz you anymore
Not the bees...NOT THE BEES NOT THE BEES!
😂😂😂
I hope others appreciate your bee- utiful humor.
I hope they wont be buzz kills.
😂 I'm laughing so hard thank you
Yall better stop Bee-for someone gets upset
What a stinger of a pun
Years ago I had bee keeping in high school and I loved it. There's something about being in the middle of the hive that is so calming.
Isn't it great?! 😊
emmymadeinjapan it's like ASMR but with bees
This is my favourite way to eat honey! My mom bought me a piece when I was a kid and getting to eat a spoonful of it was always such a treat!
Had to comment because you have a really pleasant personality. Like you radiate a sort of gentle, calm, warmth. And the soft voice is really pleasant on the ears. I loved the way you explained the honeycomb process. I'm a relatively new raw honey lover and have been hesitant to try honeycomb for the longest time. This video has convinced me to finally try it! "Precious stuff", indeed.
I love whole honey combs, it reminds me of my childhood love of chewing on those wax soda bottles, but combines my love of fresh raw honey. It's also amazing with fancy cheese platters, it goes amazing with certain cheeses
@@pbowser1030 Yes! Honeycomb to me is like nature's nik l nips cept they help sore throats
I’m so jealous of you eating your best life 😂❤️👌🏽
Mmm I love honey. I never tried the comb, I see it at stores now I gotta experience it. It looks soo good. I love honey on a spoon, with nothing. 😊🍯
You are the cutest and most calming youtuber. You are a little ray of sunshine.
I’ve always imagined the comb having a slightly crisp/crunchy texture, almost like a single sheet of phyllo pastry? But learning it’s more chewy like gum is so interesting! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
This has got to be the most peaceful video . I think ima get a honey comb and some cheese!
I’m so glad that she ate the bees wax bc most of the asmr videos I watch, ppl don’t appreciate the food they eat, and how much effort it takes to make these things.
Takes me back to my childhood.I used to chew it like gum,and the warm Honey in it was so sweet it would actually burn your sinuses. My grandfather would take it from the hives and hang it in cheese cloth over my grandmother's canning tub.He would cut the comb and put the blocks like she has, inside every jar.
I love that you called your back teeth CHOMPERS!
In Ethiopia all we ate was raw honey straight from the hive =]
Manuel Mendoza damn so hardcore, like a grizzly bear 😂
@@kyle0091000 Grrrrr lol
So delicious! I grew up in the Deep South - in Mississippi, and we did the same thing when we were children!
@@aen9321 in Ethiopia they drizzle honey over scrambled eggs... at first i was like wha? but then i tried it and its super yummy
A coworker gave me a bottle of Ethiopian honey wine but I never tried it. I then gave it to another coworker who enjoyes it.
Your channel makes me feel like I’m watching the beginnings of a new civilization, and I am here for it.
My gosh, more than the honey, the sound of your voice and you rich vocabulary is, as you had said, very "delightful" to my ears! Everything about this video was an unexpected pocketful of sunshine!
They say honey never goes bad
boy they are wrong. I ate old one and I puked like nobondys business.
@@icansurviveuniversity.imra1405 I'm sorry to hear that but that's hilarious 😂 I wonder why you got sick if people say honey can't go bad, maybe it had something else in it?
I can survive university. I'm Rachel! It’s probably generic honey
Actually you cant, its like fruit cake, its so sugary that it even kills the bacteria that eat it
Real honey doesnt
The "World Foods" section of a lot of supermarkets will often have jars of honey with some comb, and it's not a ton more expensive than regular jars of honey.
because like she said, its usually surrounded by that quick heated cooked honey whichis less desirable and potentially maybe not even really honey at all, gotta be careful
“I’m gonna go ahead and eat it bcs it’s precious stuff” TTwTT if I was a bee and heard that I would cry tears of joy...I love how she talk and explain it afterwards all the work the bees have to do amazing stuff to think something that I’m used to seeing and buying without a second thought hold so much meaning and work truly beautiful nature is awesome ♥️
You are always positive vibes! Just what we need
On a freshly toasted English muffin with real churned butter!
Edit: a better ending would've been swinging your arms to chase away a bee or three!
Careful sas asmr striked a channel because she salty other people eat the same foods as her ps. Love you emmmmmmyyyy
yeah her lip color and way of talking shows shes a brat. It's really something else, considering UHHH THE REST OF THE WORLD EATS TOO, YOU ARENT SPECIAL. -
