Beautiful part of the world, but I couldn't live there.
I have to use public transport, the bus and train services there would drive me nuts. The trains don't have a regular timetable on the mainline. The service frequency seems to be dictated by trains as far away as London and Scotland, with the odd Plymouth service to fill in the gaps. The trains vary so much too. It could be an HST, a Voyager, an Hitachi, or a two car 150. Had a lovely journey from Par to Penzance playing sardines on a single class 150.
Hopefully it will change with the new signalling and the introduction of the 'Castle' HSTs.

It's a shame to think the semaphore signals are on borrowed time.
Mind you, the upgrade should assist with a a better frequency of trains. It looks like they've refurbished the foot crossing at the country end of Par station.
It's interesting to watch them run around the china clay trains at Par station. Most are through trains, but the odd ones come in from StAustel direction and the go up the Newquay branch.
    Nice video.
