For Modi’s ‘mission 370’, winning more seats in the south in the Lok Sabha polls is pivotal. Yet, navigating the southern political landscape poses many challenges for the BJP. One key factor is the relatively subdued Hindu-Muslim conflict in many southern regions. Moreover, the BJP is often viewed as a party rooted in Hindi-speaking states, while the RSS is seen as an adversary by regional parties.
However, the complexities run deeper. In this week’s Let Me Explain, Pooja Prasanna looks at two key questions:
What is the BJP's strategy for the south?
And what electoral gains can the BJP expect?
The absence of BJP-led governments in southern states cannot solely be attributed to a simple north-south divide. The Congress maintains a robust grassroots presence and formidable leadership, serving as a potential obstacle to the BJP's advancement. Yet, it's important to note that the south is not entirely impervious to BJP influence.

I can understand that many South Indians don't like BJP but don't give blatant statements like "South doesn't vote for BJP because it is more educated" or "All North Indians vote for BJP because they are illiterate ".
Neither of them are correct.
You don't vote for BJP because for you regionalism and language is very important even in National elections. This simply isn't the case in North India.
Also the history of both North and South India is different which also affects their current politics. Religion is always going to be the most important reason for us in election just like for you it is language.
Thus saying that North Indians are dumb is not only incorrect but also harmful because it will ensure that we make Congress an untouchable party in the North (something it already is 😁).
And finally BJP will win enough seats for North which will give it a simple majority but it is trying hard in South because it believes in a pan Indian ideology.
Voting based on policies & previous accomplishments of the party/candidate is wat an educated person will do. Caste, creed, religion plays no role in selecting a candidate.

Not sure about Karnataka, but definitely other sates BJP will not do much. Even in total if they get around 10-15 is great excluding K'taka. Lot of factors will come into play. Especially the linguistic barriers, more literacy rate, progressive development and thoughts.

In Tamil Nadu, we're more than comfortable with the DMK government, which has in fact, in their own minister's words, the first family, has siphoned off not just 1 or 2 but 30,000 Crores in a matter of just 2 years.
