Honda CRV Dilemma: V-Spec or Hybrid? You Choose!

  • The new Honda CRV is the best there has ever been. It is bigger than ever, quite good looking, and it has interior features that some will struggle to match. It is also incredibly nice to drive as we found out during a recent drive to Penang where we drove both the hybrid (e:HEV in Honda lingo) and the top of the line variant of the regular non-hybrid variants. So which should you spend your money on if you are interested in a CRV? That is what we try to answer in this video.

    I think for me the major concern is the battery reliability of the RS. I understand that there is 8 years of warranty from Honda, but what does the warranty covers? Is it really reliable?

    One is 2WD and the other AWD. Would love to hear your views on their driving dynamic like stability and cornering etc. Thanks

    • @PistonMalaysia
      @PistonMalaysia  Před 2 měsíci +3

      The AWD is obviously going to offer more grip in all conditions. But it is also heavier. So the RS is obviously more efficient. But in terms of handling, the AWD is better suited for all conditions.

      @@PistonMalaysia Yes and I was torn between choosing the turbo's 2WD and AWD. The AWD's 0-100kph is listed as 10.4 sec. The 2WD's 9.8 sec is a closer to the Hybrid's 9 sec. I am still wondering, if I stay on sealed roads, does the AWD makes any difference in cornerning?

    • @PistonMalaysia
      @PistonMalaysia  Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@hhkong2339- You will only feel the difference if you are really going for it in the corners. But the safety it provides in slippery conditions such as the torrential Malaysian rains is undeniable.

      Have the 2WD turbo and briefly test driven the 2WD Hybrid. On highway above legal limit, the turbo seems to have better pulling power. Other than that, the Hybrid is better.

    If i understood you correctly, in a nutshell the 2.0L engine powers the battery, which in return provides the juice to the electric motor to propel the car?

    The writer haven’t said about spare tyre for the RS model. The RS no spare tyre compare to V spec. In malaysia anything can happen to your tyres. If tyres burst it cannot be repaired by repair tyre kit.
