    HOW THE F DO YOU DELETE A PHOTO - I HATE THIS NEW SOFTWARE

    • @justgivemethetruth
      @justgivemethetruth Před 9 lety

      Mr the penguin Yeah, they have changed most of the ways things used to work, hidden the rest of them, and just plain gotten rid of a lot of things.

      I hate this POS. Bad bad job Apple.

    • @justgivemethetruth
      @justgivemethetruth Před 9 lety +4

      Alfred Cawthon Yeah, the more I use this, the more I hate it, and the more I hate Apple for doing this over and over again. They fucked up iMovie, and now they want to do the same thing with photos. The new OS runs so amazingly slow ... I guess they want me to spring for a new Apple computer too ... *$#$_W&*(U$ !!!!!
      The main thing about iPhoto was how crappy it was ... it didn't need a new fucking facelift ... it needed to work - it needed to be fixed so it would not wreck the database and lose photos, and it would be more reliable.
      What is next ... they have screwed up the OS, they've screwed up iMovie, they've screwed up iPhoto .... now what?

    • @mrthepenguin713
      @mrthepenguin713 Před 9 lety

      justgivemethetruth yeah i managed to work it out - but there one problem - when you insert an sd card you were able to delete it straight from there without transferring any photos , well that was on old iphoto now on this new photos app you cannot do that- anyone managed to work that out - deleting photos straight from the sd card

    iPhoto also closes when you hit the red button. It's not a bug. I'm guessing the premise is a photo app is not something that typically needs to run in the background windowless so they close it. It's not the only app that does this I have a few others but I cannot remember which ones. Great review.

    hi david. thx for the tutorial. you already talked about some during iphoto class, but would be nice to have a quick update for photos concerning these points:
    - which pic quality remains where by doing what? and how can I identify where which data actually is?
    - what's your recommendation
    - which photos domI see on the different devices (is it all library, whats on the device itself...)
    - can I delete pics from device but NOT from iCloud
    - what does the new Album (iOS) iPhoto uses in terms of storage? is it also only cloud based, or is it a real copy on all devices?
    Guess that's all. thx again

    QUESTION:
    First off, thank you for the video!
    I'm wondering if you have any insight on how to organize photos in albums. In iPhoto, I could review and categorize them in separate albums as I imported them. I want to be able to move batches of photos to an album, like Hawaii Vacation. But currently i have to g join to each batch, that's grouped by date, and click the + button to add them to an album. Is there an easier way?
    A video on organization options would be A-freaking-MAXZING.
    thanks again for all your hard work.

      +Michael Fink I'm in the same position - I've just moved from Windows to a Mac and was used to having my photos stored in folders titled Holiday 2012 or Xmas 2013 etc. but when I add my pics to Photos they all get put into one big group and I don't understand how I am meant to easily find pictures from my holiday in 2012 amongst all the thousands of pics! Did you figure anything out?

    How do you do skin smoothing in Photos?
    How do you do selective sharpening and smoothing? In Aperture you had a brush where you could smooth the face and sharpen the eyes....how does one do that in Photos?

    Lost me at "punch in" and "pull back" as I have an iMac with a Mac mouse and have no clue what that means.
    I am struggling with Photos. I had my photos organized by groups in iPhoto. While I can see those in 'iPhoto Events', I cannot figure out how to add to those events (organized by topic). Also, I used to be able to show individual iPhoto Events on my AppleTV, but can no longer see them, making one of the primary reasons to have an AppleTV moot.

What's the best way to import them all without doubling up space usage but also organizing the unorganized ones while also keeping the organized one (in proper folders)? P.S. Photos>Preferences>General>Copy items to Photo Library (Deselected) is not true to its name. Even when I had this deselected, it still took away Gigs & gigs of free space on my Mac :(

    Question David: Once I get my photos into iCloud, do they all get put on all my devices? Also, if I delete a photo on my iPhone to make room, does it get deleted everywhere?

    Originally people were told that iPhoto and Aperture were combined to create Photos, but Photos is "definitely a far cry from APERATURE." We could not agree more. David, please let Apple know. The more people speak up, the better. I already googled Apple feedback and sent an "enhancement request." The removal of Aperture is already bothering A LOT of people in the photo community who know longer have access to one of the best photo programs after upgrading to Yosemite (either that or Apple claims to discontinue the application to new customers!). Asking your customers to spend additional money for options (other software with features) they initially bought with Aperture is bad business. Please bring back Aperture or at the very least, integrate all features of Aperture in Photos. This sudden removal is affecting a lot of businesses and family computer owners, people who work in "post". Aperture provided what many of us have desired. Is this a ploy to get everyone to buy Lightroom or another software program, because it feels like it. Apple: What is your intuitive [just makes sense] plan for all of the businesses and families who use your software (Aperture) to market, advertise, etc.? The new software feels like a downgrade. It gives the impression that Apple is becoming the convenience company without the intuitive, ergonomic, and more user-friendly, caring (to customers) improvements that reflected the vision of Steve Jobs.

    QUESTION
    I am having big trouble with iCloud / Apple. I am forced to make a decision to either "Quit" Photos immediately or "Delete incomplete items"
    Q: How can get around this in future and how can I recover my lost photos now after choosing "Delete Incomplete Items"?

    Thank you David. I found your tutorial so helpful (I have now subscribed and look forward to many more lessons!) I do have a question though. How do you export your images? I used to be able to export and then put them in a folder of my choice with a name of my choice. I can't see how you do that now. I've loads of photos waiting to be edited for my eBay listings and have already wasted 2 days trying to work out how to use Photos properly. And now Photoshop doesn't work...doh! Everything is against me at the moment...but you saved the day! Thank you

    I've used iPhoto for some time for archival research purposes and the system made it easy for me to edit and cut/paste into powerpoint or other documents for use. But while the new system allows for "copy" I am at a loss to discover how to "paste" anywhere other than migrating things to social media or saving to a different file. How does one copy/paste one's own photos?

    David, I have a question about how to make an album like iPhoto. I can see the side bar on the left and there is a section called, "iPhoto Events". When I imported photos from my iPhone, it did not import the photo into those "iPhoto Events" and I do not know how to make a new album on the same screen as iPhoto Events. I can see new photos which I just imported from iPhone on "All Photos" or "Photos" section but I can not see them on old albums I created. What I want to do is I want to see all albums I created on the same screen but not the separate window. When I click "file" and make a new album, it created under "Albums" but in order to add photos into the new album, I have to choose from all photos and it is hard to tell which photo is already on the album or not. I usually leave some photos on my iPhone and I delete the photos manually ( I don't erase them when I imported the photo automatically). I don't have duplicates but when I see photos without albums, I can not tell which photo is under albums already.
    On the iPhoto, I could see which photo is still new and not in the album so it was easy to make an album.
    Do I have to make a new album from the scratch again? If you know how to operate this software, I would be greatly appreciated if you could teach me how to solve this problem. I haven't really touched this software since I installed but now I have time and motivate myself to sort out photos... In order to start sorting out, I want to make sure if I am doing things right. Thank you very much in advance :)

    Hello from Singapore! I'm struggling with PHOTOS. I have 40Gigs of photos on an external HD. All my photos were saved on this external before I upgraded my Macbook with an SSD. How do I set up PHOTOS so that it recognises my external as my pictures vault? Thanks.

    Hi, iPhoto used to have the "events" feature which were created automatically when photos were imported. Has that feature been removed?

    Great video. I use smart albums for just about all my sorting. However the smart albums don't seem to be syncing from the Mac to the iCloud/iPhone/iPad. Am I doing something wrong or do they no longer sync?

    Hi! Just checked out this video and it was very helpful. Thank you! But I have a question: When I take pictures with my phone and these upload to my iCloud and into my mac Photos, does this mean that the pictures are saved in my Mac? can I erase these pictures from my phone without deleting it at the same time from my Mac? I'm still confused as in how to handle my phone storage and not loosing my pictures from both my computer and phone if these are deleted.... If you can please explain or give a tutorial on this that would be great!

    Hi David! Great video. I have one question.. How do I save (export) my entire photo library back from the cloud to local storage?
    It's great and convenient to have my library in the cloud, but I still want to have local copies of everything.
