  • My fellow Audi Fanatics, VW Fanatics, and MQB chassis owners, I welcome you to my channel for another DIY!
    Today, I will be showing you how to removal the front bumper off an Audi S3. Even though this video was performed on the S3 8V platform, the removal processes is applicable to many other Audi and VWs. The main idea is as following:
    - removal screws that hold the top portion of the bumper/grill
    - removal screws that hold the inner bumper (access through the wheel well)
    - removal screws and panels which hold the lower portion of the bumper
    - unclip sensors
    - PULL!
    With the right tools and at a minimum, a set of jack stands to lift the front end up, you should be able to accomplish this DIY without major issues. If this is your first time, I highly recommend having an extra set of hands and give yourself roughly 2-3hrs.

    Great tutorial mate. That said, you absolutely don't have to remove the bumper. Simply unscrew the front half of the fender liner (or remove the whole thing if you want), fold it back, and you've got direct access to the bulb access cap. Easily half the time of removing the bumper. Highly recommended.

    Nice one Peter!
    One to help you provide more clarity in your videos, the aim is not to criticise but to improve your future content; the screws you keep referring to as star type are actually torx screws (6 sides). Star screws only have 5 sides and the inside of the head looks like a star.

      Hey Syed, no offense taken at all. When I am filming my videos, I tend to get lost for words. Perhaps I should put together a bloopers video. Then you'll see that I call screws all sorts of things. LOL. Thanks for the suggestion and support!

    Great video - having some issues now realigning the bumper back into the car - I seem to be left with a gap under the headlights - are you able to share the technique of how re apply the bumper back onto the car ? It is driving me mad ! Thank you !

    • @TheAutomotiveFanatic
      @TheAutomotiveFanatic  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply Rao30. You're probably having gap between your headlights because the edge of the bumper is not flush with the front fender. When you put the bumper on, first make sure it fits properly with the front grill. Then loosely install the bumper/grill bolts. Then work on the edges and make sure they are aligned and flush with the fender. This should make everything align up well. Give it a try!

    • @harddiillion
      @harddiillion Před 4 lety

      The Audi S3 Fanatic I have tried this and got closer but still not flush. I have taken both headlights out the car to upgrade the bulbs - how do u make sure the headlights are flush and connected properly as I am now concerned it is due to the headlights not sitting correctly ?!? I have lined up the headlights flush with the corner as well as ensuring all bolts are in line - arghhhhh

    • @TheAutomotiveFanatic
      @TheAutomotiveFanatic  Před 4 lety +1

      @@harddiillion, Ok, try again. Remove the headlights and make sure, nothing is impeding the placement. Double check bolts are correct, etc. Then do what I recommend and start at the center, work your way towards the edge. Any change you can post a photo online?

DO NOT tighten them, just loosely screw them in as it gives support to holding the bumper up. From there, slide the bumper in one side at a time. If you take a look at 7:09, you'll see the protrusions from the bumper that need to slide inside the rail.
