This chain is sadly unbreakable in my opinion, because the moment you send the message, you betray your loved one, just like the ghost was betrayed and the scene with the boyfriend afterwards.. kinda makes me feel like he didnt escape either. There's no way out.

Also, not everyone loves exactly the same; you might still love someone after this, but not everyone would. It might not be instantaneous but I'm pretty sure most women would stop dating him after this.

Wait I'm confused. If the story stated that her family betrayed her, and the rule was to send the picture to someone you love, wouldn't she go after the person who sent it because they betrayed their loved one?

It looks to me like she went after everyone regardless. Actually, it seems like she does go after the one who sent it. I don't think the boyfriend was alive by the time he was controlled to point out the curtains.

Maybe that's the point - She was betrayed by those she loved (and thought they loved her), so in retaliation she makes a person send it to someone THEY love, thus betraying THEM.
The problem is, if you pass it to someone you “love,” it’s proof positive that you don’t actually love them, which means you’re doomed anyway according to the logic of the film.

Love's just metaphysical, subjective bs anyway. I'd be willing to bet that the line where human cowardice triumphs over "love" is pretty easy to cross when confronting goddamn demons.

Now THAT was a good short. I expected the ending but it hit hard when it actually happened. Amazing job!

It seems to me everyone who looked at the sent file got hunted. So maybe don't open the damn file. This seems a lot like those damn chain letters.
Not opening a file in a chain letter is one thing. Refusing to open a file sent by someone who loves you (and who you very probably also love), right in front of her or him is another. Of course, you're going to open the file - unless you, somehow, already know about it. That being said, it could be a way to break the chain : Most people live with their loved one, so use it to your advantage to end the curse once and for all. You could start by getting your girlfriend in a room. Then, tell her all about that curse. Send the file to a secondary email address she only uses for trivialities, such as receiving adverts and special offers from companies. Make her change her password to a random sequence of characters pressed on a keyboard while being blindfolded. There, it's done.
Won’t look at lanterns the same way again....
It looks like a similar story to the IT FOLLOWS movie.

You can tell something was off about him. From the start he’s sweaty, jumpy, & paranoid, freaked.
This had the potential to be so much better. It's such an easy narrative to get creative with. It feels like they started it off and then said, oh, that's good enough...

I'm not really a horror fan but I have to say this is a great short movie. The acting, the directing, the cinematography and the music were perfect. Great work people.

great concept and beautifully shot. soundtrack was epic too - it's a shame she didn't tell her own sister that it had to be passed on to someone she loved... at least her boyfriend had that courtesy!

Simple solution : Print the file. Hand it to The Wicken, saying you love her (OK, it's not romantic love, but everyone loves ghosts). Watch that clucking ghost end itself. Find another significant other. Live happily ever after. The end.

Good flick..I mean its been done a bunch of times, but this was done well. What got me with this one is that she sent it to a woman (her sister) with an infant! To me, that makes her as bad as the "demon" that was chasing her! 😱

That was good! There were moments where I was genuinely frightened and that's what I'm looking for! 🤪 I also love old folklore and horrible history so this did it for me 😊 Seriously though I keep looking over my shoulder! I feel creeped out, do I have to send it now?! Lol but really scared 😱

I can definitely see this curse falling flat as soon as it passes to someone that's selfless enough not to pass it to a loved one. I know that there is a level of self-preservation that most people would have the curse perpetuate for a while, but once it eventually does reach people that are legitimately willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of humanity, then it does diddly squat (since there's over billions of people around the world with different moral compasses, so it'd be bound to happen eventually). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯🤪
In retrospect, it kinda reminds me of the Ju-On and The Ring series (except it's harder to prevent Kayako or Samara from spreading like a plague to society), which makes them scarier.

Seriously, Gore Verbinski's "The Ring" (2002) starring Naomi Watts is the best cinematic expression of this concept of horror. It's a superior remake of a Japanese film ("Ringu").
This was excellent and I would love to see it as a full-length movie.

This is the 3rd or 4th short horror film I've watched in the past few weeks that has someone running to their bed and hiding under the sheets xD
That's one way of breaking up with someone! Great horror short - creepy story. The most frightening things are often related to human behaviour.
Dude this was really good! I think, the thing with all these "short horror" films that you have on the youtubez is that it is essentially always just someone walking in a dark room or house for 5 minutes and then they end with a jumpscare. this was top pacing and scary! it even included a story that even though probably inspired by the ring or so, was good and has background!

I have made 2 shorts myself, they are not comparable to this, but my idea is to get away from this basic "short horror" style that i just mentioned. It's just hard, i have a lot to learn :)

I would have sent it back to him if I loved him. No way would I harm my own sister a baby to save myself. Such a predictable ending. Was hoping for something fresh, different, new.
I was hoping for a humorous ending. It could have been effective, build up the tension and then relieve it with a laugh.
I wonder if thats why when they showed him the 2nd time his back was turned? Kind of like if he doesn't see/open any attachment then he cant receive it? Idk, just an idea. It does seem like hes being controlled at that part, where he points, so maybe he gets taken over and sending it at all is moot.... idk.
Very well done! Just once though I'd like to see a masterful horror setup like this that takes us to the very limit of terror and then when the spirit goes to hurt the victim, the victim unleashes hell on the spirit and beats it mercilessly.

The boyfriend said he had no “choice”? That’s not true, he had a “choice”. To save his girlfriend and not send her the video. He obviously doesn’t love her enough if he “chose” to save himself first.
