      @@NankitaBR Oh,yeah! Never saw someone so unfazed by going to Hell.
      It's so interesting on rewatches to see Beelzebub's and Gabriel's scenes. Beelzebub has sent everyone they can think of to find him, even trying to bribe Crowley ("You find Gabriel for me, and I'll give you anything your nasty little heart desires"--not a very professional offer), and Gabriel's being ready and willing to go to Hell and telling Aziraphale how it felt like everything would be all right if he were just near one particular person.

      I think actually BECAUSE they've known each other for 6000 years, it makes perfect sense that they don't know how to communicate! They're both fucking idiots (I say lovingly, I love them), and they're always beating around the bush. In all of their fights, they never actually SPOKE, just called each other names and stormed off and whatnot, i.e the 1860s with the Holy Water talk, the meeting at Bandstand, the fight in the street before Crowley drives off, and then the moment just before the kiss when Aziraphale says there's nothing else to say). One talking to by 2 lesbians is not going to fix that. It was bound to go wrong. They'll get it right, eventually, in s3...

    "Okay, car. Way to rub it in." There's some debate in the fandom as to whether the Bentley played the song on its own or Crowley had it queued up because he would be driving Aziraphale to the Ritz after their planned talk OR(!) Aziraphale did it as a message that he still loved Crowley.

      I think the most likely option is actually none of the above. To me, it seems after Crowley found out he truly did love Aziraphale, he likely sat in his car to contemplate, and ended up listening to the song. He straight up mentioned the song when speaking to Azi, meaning it was on his mind. So that rules out Azi turning the song on, and the Bentley playing the song. Also, the song was already about halfway through, so that also rules out him queuing it up for a romantic drive, cuz why would he have started it halfway through… so eh, there.

    I've been in agony for over a month, ever since I saw that damn finale.
    It is just so painfully amazing. I hate it cause it broke my heart, but I love it because of the storytelling and because we know Neil would never officially let it end like that. But every important love story has a 2nd act break up and this one just happened to leave us hanging.
    Just props to David and Michael, they are so fuckin' talented and play off each other so well. Their chemistry shines through in every scene, but more so in the last 10 minutes of this. They understand these characters and they love them, and you can FEEL it.

    So I’ve done a little research and Metatron is supposed to be THE highest ranking Angel, who’s is the spokesperson for God. Unfortunately he’s just kind of a footnote in the Bible, kind of a “by the way Metatron is the big dog here” and that’s it. He doesn’t quite abide by the standard Celestial hierarchy (principalities, archanges, thrones, dominions, etc.), and apparently he used to be a human who gained angelic status by being one of MANY God’s favorite humans (others being Job and JC).

    My theory is that Arizaphael and Crowley are far too powerful together for either "sides" comfort, which is why Metatron did whatever sneaky sh*t he felt he had to to break them up. In my own headcanon, Crowley was a powerful archangel who loved creation so much that he actually volunteered to be Hell's representative, but as a double agent with no memory of having agreed to it. Aziraphael (in my pre S2 head canon) is partially formed from the angelic essence that was torn from Crowley when he fell, then sent as Heaven's representative on earth to ease the pain of it all for Crowley, and to keep Aziraphael more grounded in reality. When they unite forces they can create an entity with just enough greater power than the other archangels to cause the bureaucracy concern, enough to do anything to keep them apart and under control. The bureaucracy has evolved in it's own direction sans God's input, after all. I see the Metatron and his ilk as representing humanity's (the Catholic Church specifically) twisted religious dogma, which isn't remotely representative of a "God", the universe, or whatever you wish to call it. Look through it's history, and it's about as dark and creepy as it gets!

    • @clarestubbs9303
      @clarestubbs9303 Před 5 měsíci

      Ooh that is an interesting headcanon! That would explain why Crowley doesn't remember building the Horsehead Nebula with Saraquiel or fighting with Furfur in the Great War and why his memories of his fall are so hazy.
      But why would the Bureaucracy risk putting them both on Earth if they knew that C and A were powerful enough to thwart their plans if they joined together? It seems a huge risk! Unless they thought that C and A would avoid each other, being on opposite "sides" and did not imagine that they would team up and form their "own side".
      I definitely think that you are right, that the Bureaucracy has evolved under the Metabastard because God isn't around any more and I wonder if the Meta had something to do with that.
      I don't agree with the "God being bad" headcanon, (probably to do with my own religious upbringing, I can't bear to think of Her being bad) and I hope that, in the GO universe at least, She has been deposed by the Meta in some way, and the bible, with it's terrible homophobic ideas has come from the Bureaucracy and not from Her. ❤

    Shax's demonic weapon of seeking out perceived weak points is very interesting. Her failing at her mission and possibly getting promoted seems about par for the course. What are her weak points? I was reading a hilarious set of posts last night that suggests she looks up to and possibly crushes on Crowley. She definitely is willing to destroy his life while at the same time having mundane conversations about the mail and the boiler, which is always amusing. She doesn't get sarcasm yet, but maybe is starting to; she reminds me of Muriel as someone learning the Earth. If she doesn't get the promotion, it would be interesting how she deals with staying in that position. If she does, I hope she sends Disposable Demon Eric, who actually seems like the most curious and intelligent (in some ways, but also a bit foolhardy) of the demons below to replace her. Eric and Muriel could have an interesting learning Earth dynamic.
    I agree that Crowley should help Muriel out with running the bookshop. He should be drawn back there, almost against his will, and end up staying. (I have read a fanfic where this happens, but that doesn't mean it isn't planned by NG. In the fic, the Bentley drove him back. Before long, he and the plants had moved in.)
    This didn't happen but, when Aziraphale asked what Beelzebub and Gabriel wanted and you said "to date, you know, go to the pub," I thought of how funny it would be if they stayed as Supreme Archangel and Grand Duke of Hell and just dated. That setup could be a series in itself (fantasy writers take note).
    We don't know whether they went to Alpha Centauri; we just know that Crowley suggested it. It is funny how terrible Beelzebub and Gabriel were in season one and yet their romance is so "rootable" here. Almost like letting demons and angels get to know each other results in more well-rounded people. I like how Beelzebub calls Gabriel "my sweet" and "silly, silly angel." It's fun seeing their one joint scene together in season one after this (with Anna Maxwell Martin in the role then). Even then, it seemed as if there was something.
    I don't think Shelley Conn looked 50-70--depending on how old you're saying you think Beelzebub looks--as Lady Mary in _Bridgerton._ This is probably hyperbole, though. I thought she looked maybe 40 as Lady Mary. She is remarkably beautiful and has such a lovely voice, though, and I wish they would have given her a little more focus on _Bridgerton_ and cut down on the Featherington drama. Her facial expressions are also great.
    I'm not sure Crowley and Aziraphale break down so easily into the "hard-bitten one who can't trust anyone ever again" and the "soft one who still believes in magic and people being basically good" categories. I know the fandom has aligned Maggie with Crowley (the one who'll do anything to be with the person they love) and Nina with Aziraphale (the one who has a toxic relationship that they left not really by their own choice, which is hard to leave behind)--except at the ball, where Nina and Crowley are the ones who feel something is wrong, but there may be more crisscrossing than that. I really have to think about that. And both Crowley and Aziraphale have a toxic relationship with Heaven and trauma from that.
    Aziraphale, of course, isn't saying he and Crowley can't last; he clearly wants them to last. Crowley had just said he couldn't leave the bookshop, right after asking Aziraphale to leave with him. His original speech/proposal was probably more along the lines of staying in the bookshop but moving from "a group of two" to a more official couple. He's always had to deal with Aziraphale pulling back, wanting to slow down, being unable to break with Heaven.
    Crowley's love declaration/proposal was so much. The moments his voice breaks. When he can't quite finish saying he wants to spend his life/eternity/the rest of time with Aziraphale. The way he unequivocally says "I love you" without saying the words. Then Aziraphale's response. Also full of love an heartbreak. "I need you" expresses his love and more too. And then Crowley waits by the car until Aziraphale has gone from his sight.
    One reason I think Gabriel and Beelzebub don't kiss as they fade out of view is that we had that other kiss coming. Of course, it could have still worked as contrast. There are other reasons, but I'll just leave it at that.
    It would have made a mess at the bookshop if there were Nina- and Maggie-sized pillars of salt standing there.

    Metatron is the Voice of God. He oversees the angels and humans. In other words he manipulates everyone in accordance with God’s Great Plan. Most importantly, he makes sure to separate Aziraphale and Crowley, since they performed that 25 lazurite Miracle.
    Crowley was very high up Heaven’s hierarchy until he asked too many questions and the Metatron blanked his memory and sent him to Hell. Now all we need to do is figure out who he was. My two possibilities are either Lucifer or Raphael, but I’m kind of leaning towards him being Lucifer because if you listen to him talking to (himself) in the pub after the bookshop burns down, his mention of Lucifer and the boys he doesn’t specify who Lucifer was.
    At least we know that Crowley is going to save Aziraphale in season three, because he loves to save Aziraphale, and Aziraphale loves when Crowley saves him.

    Metatron is an archangel from the Hebrew Bible, and in this story it seems to me that Metatron (as the "voice" of god) is very Melkor/Morgoth-like as we haven't heard from "the god" (Frances McDormant) in the 2nd season (except for Job) so I'm thinking Metatron is trying to get rid of humanity and demons and keep all the power to himself (whatever it is, he's doing it isn't angelic). So I'm thinking that the "second coming" will not be very fun for humanity in this story. Even if we don't get a third season, Neil has promised a book, so there is that.

    For me, the Metatron know that Crowley will never accept that, he manipulate Aziraphale. He try to split them, their are very powerful togeter, stop the first Armageddon, they don't want a sequel.
    The finale his supose to release in July if nothing other happen...

    Still gutted. Season 3 can’t come fast enough.
    Season 2 felt like Crowley trying to help Aziraphel deconstruct (question the way things are, deconstruct them and hopefully reconstruct them in a healthier way and/or disagree with those beliefs/institution and leave). But Aziraphel is very resistant to change and to truly question certain aspects he finds troubling - he’d rather skirt around or put a bandaid on. So they’re in a pickle- to put it mildly.
    Metatron is a thing in Christianity, he’s just mostly ignored in Protestant circles. But plenty of Protestant church leaders are aware of them, but you have to ask them about him personally because they don’t include him in their sermons. They tend to find his existence too esoteric although they typically accept him as cannon.

    Not everyone in love has to kiss, and some people are sax repulsed asexuals like me and don't like kissing scenes. I liked that they did not have a kissing scene with Gabriel and Beezelbub and I felt that they were able to portray their love just fine without the unnecessary and gross kissing scenes.

      @SleepyWaffles So what? You think everyone watches a show in the first month? It's just common sense to not use spoilers on a public platform. Simple as that. Just have a little consideration for others when choosing your thumbnails in the future. Also, maybe read your patreon comments too. I already gave you a heads up over there about not using the big spoiler for your thumbnail days ago. Please change your thumbnail!

    • @HuntingViolets
      @HuntingViolets Před 11 měsíci

      @@SleepyWaffles Respectfully, I have to say, I think people could be coming to the show at any time, and they should know that if they watch the video they will get spoilers (and should watch the episodes first if that's a problem), but maybe no spoilers in thumbnails and titles would be a good rule of thumb. Twenty years from now, it will still be somebody's first time watching the show, although how likely they are to stumble on old reviews _before_ watching it seems negligible. Anyway, I didn't even notice what the thumbnail was (or don't recall), but I had watched already. Still, I have been spoiled for other things, often older things, and it's still no fun. That's my two cents,' anyway. Thanks.
