    I love these lists. And I think they should be made without fear of being ridiculed. Everyone has their own things going on in life and their own limitations. And that goes for the hardiness/vacation reptile ones too. We all love these animals, and thats the common ground we should focus on and not judge each other for the way we keep animals (excluding the obviously bad people ie abusive/neglectful, or greedy people. But those people aren't watching these videos anyway)

    • @kplooki
      @kplooki Před rokem +10

      But there are situations where a container is too small for an animal. The limitations aren't meant to be mean for people. It's for the welfare of the animal. Like I want a boa constrictor, but I don't have the room to properly house one

    • @rjdaire38
      @rjdaire38 Před rokem +11

      @kplooki totally agree. That's why i like these lists. They help the people that have limitations and want something that they can love and these lists help them find something other than the usually animals everyone recommends that end up being to big for the tank. I wasn't justifying people that want to put a full grown boa in a 40 gal tank just because they want an animal. I just meant some people can't get a 4×2 enclosure to fit a cool animal but don't want a leopard gecko. And Adam is good at finding the unique animals like that, which is why i like when he makes these. I just don't think he should have to worry about being attacked for it. But i don't think someone putting a boa in a 40 gal tank is going to be watching these either so this doesn't help them

    Due to typical sizes, the amount of reptiles is limited for a 20 gal but among amphibians there is no shortage of frogs, tree fogs and toads that do well, for life, in a 20 gal enclosure.

      I currently have a wild saved baby. She's about 3 months old, born in my outdoor spider plant. Found her hurt one day, kept her in to heal. She ended up staying and she's the absolute sweetest!
      Not skittish at all, since she's been handled since she was days old. She'll just sit on my hand, neck, chest, and just sleep ❤

      @@drewzero1most sold in the store are wild caught, so they're super skittish. Getting them very young and hand feeding, or getting one from a breeder if you can find, would be best. My girl jumps into my hand, and snuggles in, full sploot

    I recommend for any gecko fan without much space a flying gecko. I currently keep one and he is a charm. He isn't great for handling but is EXTREMELY active during the night, which for me is great since I don't go to sleep until 9-10 and he is usually up by then partying. He is definitely my most active friend.

    The funny thing about green anoles for me is, I have always seen them running around outside, so they aren’t that special for me. And I never had any idea that some people kept them as pets. Me personally, I wouldn’t keep them because they are all around outside😂, but they are kinda cute.

My mom and I had 50 gallon fish tanks each at 1 point and we kept some goldfish in those tanks, but my tank leaked and Mom didnt want to keep her tank. Goldfish and plecos/ sucker fish get BIG.
    Anyway thank you for making these kinds of videos. I haven't heard the snakes in this video before and forgotten about red eyed tree frogs. I thought Canada would be like parts of Europe and be too cold for snakes.

    I have an extra 20g long, well I thinks it’s a 25g, zoo med front open. Been debating getting something to put in it. I wish corns could stay in a 20g forever, they are the EASIEST snakes to keep, they just need bigger tanks. I could get a baby they will be little enough for at least first 2 years, but then I’d have an empty tank again when they upgrade. I have a Kenyan Sand Boa is one but I don’t think I’d get another one they don’t eat like boas! Especially the males. Sue drives me crazy he eats like a ball pythons. I need to research rubber boas more, if they are super picky I don’t want one. Part of why I like corns, they never refuse a meal, mine will even eat in blue. Going to have to go back and watch all 4 parts of the 20g for life and the 10g video, is there one a 10g video, I’ll make a list of everything you suggest and do some research. These videos always remind me I have an empty tank, I put it out in my shed, so it’s out of sight out of mind. 😂 unrelated I have a tort house too, which would make an ok winter house for a small tort or box turtle when they have to be inside. Ok off to watch. Ore videos and do some research

    I was interested in a ball at an event. Asked the dude what tank he was being kept in, he said a 20 Gal. He said he's 5 years old, full grown breeder. Easily the length of my arm (he wouldnt unravel much when i held him). When I went to his shop after, he was double the price and was being kept in a plastic bin in a rack. It seemed too small for him, he took up half the bin being rolled up. The store was also dingy and we got hit in the face with the smell of ammonia I assume from all the live rodents. They were all kept in a small corner with all the snakes inches away, so they constantly smelled and heard rats. The ball had absolutely beautiful eyes but I couldn't support such a dingy shop. I'm all for doing stuff cheap but not at the expense of the animals. They have 4.4 stars on google and have been in the biz for 40 years. I just didnt trust it, maybe they're alright.
    We hope to go to an expo in the coming months as we're setting up a tank to bring something home. We don't quite know yet, probably a ball.

    The owner of my local reptile store told me that because Dekay snakes are native to us in Ontario that they're actually illegal to own as pets.
