This happens when you have played something so many times you don't think about it any more and it becomes automatic. At some point you will have a moment where you consciously think about it and BANG! You don't know what to play!

He's playing and has always played extremely simple solos. They fit well in the songs, dont get me wrong. Not godlike, though.

I love how he gives that look which seems like heâs both surprised and impressed by what heâs just done. Like when someone tells you they work in something like taxidermy and youâre like âoh, didnât know that about him, interestingâ.

Nope. He played it a semitone down, and looked at his bass player.
He hit a sour note on the B string as well, but its very possible that both happened, which could have thrown him off even more. Either way, its 1 solo out of literally thousands, shit happens

I remember many years ago seeing hank marvin and the shadows and during Apache he kinda played it all wrong during an otherwise flawless set...and like noel..( yeah i know noel snd hank are worlds apart...but im a guitar player so i can appreciate the shadows oasis...and van halen..great guitar music is great guitar music)..hank wasn't thrown off balance...at the end he joked to the audience..." er yeah we like to throw deliberate mistakes in so you guys dont think were miming "...then carried on...the difference between a professional and an amateur bedroom player is the pro will carry on....even world class players make mistakes...a friend once saw the legendary father of classical guitar andre segovia and said a couple of times during the performance he made slight errors and he frowned as if disappointed in himself and carried on...that said him been the ultra serious, classical virtuoso grumpy stick in the mud he didn't crack a joke...in fact he was known to stop playing if he felt a member of the audience wasn't paying sufficient attention...lol...actually ive attended a few classical and opera concerts myself in recent years and after decades of attending rock concerts i found it totally refreshing to actually be able to see the musicians...without some fucking cunts jumping up and down like mere cats on speed ...waving their arms about like muppets.....filming it on their mobiles and my pet hate...tunelessly "singing"along in a kinda football fan chant style....paul weller gigs are notorious for fat blokes my age..( with terrible feather cut hairdos ..M65 parkas....ill fitting fred perrys...bowling/jam shoes lol).getting all emotional and hugging their aging mod mates and singing along because hes played a Jam song....its kinda embarrassing......for the record the most aggressive gigs among many ive attended were Oasis...you got the feeling you were among 1000s of football yobs who were pretending to be into music..who thought just because they liked oasis and the stone roses it made them purveyors of good taste..like it made them .somehow better than x factor or rap/dance music fans...because they listened to "real" music ..lol....but really none of them would have had any Richard Thompson...iron maiden or Suzanne vega CDs....none of them would know about bert jansch or cheap trick.....because they are not fans of music as such....lol...also The Jam at Sheffield top rank was super rowdy...but hey i was only a kid so i loved it...and the ordinary boys at the leadmill Sheffield...mainly due to their skinhead fanbase...i took my daughter with me and as she was only 17 she found it scary.....i saw billy bragg at a seated venue a few weeks after seeing johnny marr and remember thinking how much more enjoyable it was than the marr gig...mainly due to the afore-mentioned concert goers...the tall young guys with the fucking big hair who weren't born when the smiths were around...actually now i think of it The Smiths gigs were pretty lively as well...

Has less to do with age Mark Knopfler, for example, still plays his solos cleanly, of course not as fast as when he was young. Noel probably lacks the solo play routine
He's performed it well on the other stops along this tour, so I don't get why people are so fixated on one mistake at a relatively small venue.
He normally plays the acoustic version of don't look back in anger which is in a different key and he does not play the acoustic version. Also Mark Knopfler can improvise and does so even if he can't remember the exact solo he has the ability to make it work.

â@ProdutoLicenciado He wasn't playing an "E chord" , he was soloing and forgot his part. Hence why he just gives up, shrugs and has a laugh about it.
@Radiofred english is not my first language, my mistake... I meant the E string. He didn't forgot, when he scales to the end of the solo (on E), the shit happens.
