British Airways All Business Class Jet to New York

  • British Airways operate an all Club World Business Class service on their sole A318 between London City and New York JFK. This is possibly the World's Smallest Commercial plane flying Trans-Atlantic. BA1 flight has the BEST service on any British Airways flight, most passengers are high net worth individual and treated like flying private jet.
    The outbound route from London City requires a tech stop at Shannon, where passengers are pre-cleared for US immigration and customs, before arriving at New York JFK. Perhaps saving the best till last, it took me just 5 minutes from walking outside the plane to the street at New York JFK!

      Whetic Corporation if necessary it could fly an even longer route. The a318 special, has an endurance of 9 hours, which is about 5300 nautical miles. With one or two passengers onboard, and no luggage, it could fly directly from London Heathrow to LAX.

    Hi Sam. I try and keep up to date with all of your travels. This one particularly drew me, as my wife and I traveled on BA0001 out of LCY to JFK via SNN back in 2011. It was one of the most special flights we have ever taken. Back then, there was a small Club City lounge at LCY too. That day, there were a total of 12 passengers on board. Clearing US customs and immigration at SNN was so easy, simple and fast. By the time we had completed it, the A318 was ready for boarding again and as you said, arriving into JFK as a domestic passenger was heaven in comparison with the normal wait due to the large number of international arrivals. Our return from JFK was on BA0116 a B747 on the Upper Deck, which we both loved, but the A318 and BA0001 will always hold a special place in our hearts. Keep up the great work.

    Dublin, Ireland's main airport is positioning itself as a hub for people from parts of the UK who might otherwise have to fly to and through Heathrow. Flights are cheaper, avoiding the high UK air passenger tax, and, well, it's not Heathrow.
    And travellers to the USA from Ireland (Dublin or Shannon) go through US customs and immigration very quickly and easily before departure [my maximum waiting time - less than five minutes] and avoid the lines on arrival.

      LCY isn't normally like that - I fly from there regularly. I generally arrive 20 mins before my flight and it's a breeze.

    an A220-100 would be even better on this route and a fully business class, it would be awesome.

    • @benwalsh7018
      @benwalsh7018 Před 4 lety

      That aircraft doesn’t have the range unfortunately unless you went from London city to the Azores and then onto jfk but that still might not be close enough to make it but the a 220-300 will definitely make it from London city to jfk

    2006 I remembered stopping by at Shannon Ireland on thr way back to the US after spending a year and half in Iraq.... I vividly remember how green the grass was... A really bright contrast after spending time in a place where everything is permeated with dust.

    I didn't know that the City airport was so small. However it must be more convenient than Heathrow.
    It is sad that British Airways never lowers the prices of its tickets in the case of flights with so many empty seats.

    • @speedbird737
      @speedbird737 Před 5 lety +4

      why would they lower prices if empty seats - if anything they would want to increase prices as empty seats reduces revenue

    • @nox6274
      @nox6274 Před 5 lety +3

      Nigel Harrison if you can’t sell the seats for full price, might as well fill them for a discounted one.

    • @nox6274
      @nox6274 Před 5 lety +3

      Ben Mackay if you can’t sell seats for the full price, selling them for half could be better than not selling at all.

      LCY is the best airport - I fly from there regularly. It's normally not that busy! Must have been some issue that day. I normally get to the airport 20-30 mins before the flight and takes no time in getting to the gate. Because it is so quick, they don't have lounges - as most of the customers arrive just in time for the flight.

    • @s125ish
      @s125ish Před 5 lety

    As a Londoner I feel that London city doesn’t really need a lounge as most flights are quite short

    • @fraser_livingston
      @fraser_livingston Před 5 lety

      It does have a lounge, based in the private jet area of the airport. It costs £100 a visit, and you get a private security, lounge and car to the plane steps.
