Yeah i5's main weakness in this class of car is the battery size. It should have been 90 kWh.
The 20” wheels also reduce the range by 30 miles or so.
In this platform, there are truly just three channels producing content for "European conditions" when it comes to EVs: you (Battery Life), Bjorn, and Kris. Really, they're the only big channels out there creating content that potential EV customers-who, let's face it, is gonna be everyone in the next five years-actually need and want to know about. Traditional car channels still can’t shake off that old-school petrol car mentality. Of course, this kind of range-focused content will become redundant in 8-10 years as solid-state batteries roll out and our technology advances. But today, the content these three channels are putting out is sort of a public service. Because people need these insights right now. And obviously, so do the manufacturers. Hopefully, they keep supplying you lot with plenty of cars and support.
9:45 "why didn't you go over there" it's an illegal move since you cross a solid white line haha so I'm guessing that's why :D
That look and go feature is really cool!
thanks.......from Portugal
Chris, you're sooooo German, standing next to a noisy Autobahn and complaining about a guy mowing the grass on a Sunday 😂 Spießer 😘
Self steering yes please,, BMW has got it right 🙂 all new things have some minor flaws in the beginning, but they are one right path 🙂
Hi Chris, nice car but very expensive for what you get, in Ireland, i5 starting from €90,110 for the eDrive40.
here in the Netherlands 77K
BMW's steerings wheels are waaaay too thick.
But it's fine 😂
How can be possible that, this BMW i5 has a worseconsumption than the ID.4 at 130 kph ??
Really bad efficiency BMW
Only 464 km wltp? EQS has nearly 800 km for the awd 🙈
WLTP range is 571 in that configuration of his. Also EQS has way more battery capacity and cheapest version is 98K euro minimum, which has 680 WLTP. While this is 77K minimum. A 800 km EQS is 110K at the lowest so for a good spec you are looking near 140-150K. But yes the battery in the i5 is simply too small.
@@CyAn-S it's not 571 but 529 for Msport package with these wheels
@@noproblem386 nope those are the wrong wheels. These are the 20 inch LM M Aerodynamic not the 21 individual aeros.
@@CyAn-S it's 492km with the 21 inch... at least what I see on the online configurator
@@noproblem386 Oh i am an idiot. this is the xDrive40 not the eDrive40
Not so bad performance in the context of being based on a shared platform with ICE.
Also this one would be interesting to compare with the Genesis G80 Electrified.
I have the i5 edrive40 M-Sport with 21" and can drive 480 km on the motorway with 120 km/h
Just forget the 130 km/h you will arrive 1 minute before me 😅
Nice review, the car is nice but the range is ridiculous for the price, dead on arrival, this car talks to the fans of BMW only at this point.
340 km range, when at a steady 130 kph… Not good enough, that battery is simply too small
210 miles......nowhere near enough imo
