“Bottom of the line specs” let’s not forget laptops that have the 1650 max q, the 1050, and etc. any graphics card like those are hella better than integrated graphics, and integrated graphics can run a plethora of games. There’s no need to spend big bucks on an RTX variant UNLESS you’re looking into the future and want some die hard performance, but even then the 1650 caps at around 50 - 54 for AAA Games and that’s more than enough, more FPS means more demand on the cpu

If you adjust the fan settings to something more aggressive for high cpu and gpu temperatures in the advanced mode in Dragon Center, the temperatures will drop and the performance improves a bit. The fans will obviously get louder though, but since most people play with headphones it doesn't really matter that much.
It's also worth noting that the ram is upgradable and that there is a slot in the laptop for an additional HDD or SSD.
This laptop has been perfectly fine for me, and I get good frame rates in games like GTA V, even with high settings

    • @guqinbeats

This dude is measuring external temp like a nurse looking for covid. There's a fan inside, there's aluminum, there's plastic, maybe there's steel. Heat is moving around always depending on the material. It could look hot or cold outside but inside is another story. That's why this video is not a technical valid opinion and just an aesthetic appreciation about the laptop.

There's a really big dilemma for budget gamers like me. It's impossible to find a good honest reviewer for laptops in our price range. It seems every youtuber, media outlet, and forum is biased towards higher end hardware, and benchmarks and compares lower end laptops as such. For example, you state that it's "playable" at 60fps. But it's $650 with a 4 core and a 1650, not to mention that the panel only runs at 60Hz, so that's a mute point. You also talk a bit about screen tearing but that stuff is easily fixable using g sync and other methods of syncing the frame rate to the refresh rate. It's unfair to talk badly about stuff that's stated in the spec sheet. Us buyers can always look at a piece of paper, but what we can't determine is the quality of the panel (which is what you talk about), how to keyboard feels, build and structural quality, thermals based on certain factors like the settings you're playing at and whether you're using a cooling pad or a riser. You could even talk about stuff like the build in software, amount of bloatware (256gb isn't alot of space just to be occupied by norton and mcafee lol). I'm just saying how this review could be better and could focus on factors that we the buyers care about.

      @wisanipallo8007 Před 2 lety +27

As an owner of this laptop(with a bit more space being the 512GB ssd version), I can 100% confirm that this is the worst review I've ever seen on this laptop. This review has no relevance to it's intended audience. To anyone looking to buy this laptop I strongly recommend doing so. The level of performance and value you get at this price point is insane. The build quality aspects mentioned in the video could'nt be further from the truth, it is well built and feels a lot stronger and rigid than my previous laptop and with that being said, a lot of people are likely to get external keyboards and mice anyway so they won't be tampering with the Laptop's build as much. The temps of internals such as the GPU and CPU are consistent and sustainable even while playing titles such as GTA V, FIFA 22, FH5, The Witcher 3 and COD etc on high settings at 1080p

I would suggest buying the i7 version and upgrade the RAM and add on a larger SSD, the SSD inside the stock laptop is quite limiting however you can replace it for another, the laptop on the 11th gen i7 supports up to 64GB which is more than enough to suit your needs with gaming and streaming, this is a laptop that can be upgraded... I'm typing on it right now and it's a nicely rounded laptop that's light weight and has options for upgrades... so a student would be happy with it if you give them a duel channel setup and extra storage.

So the question is what is the priority? Both systems can game for sure so I dont think you will feel bad either one, but the 3060 is definitely a nice performamce uplift. Also watch out because these days it seems like two laptop 3060s can perform very differently due to the way manufacturers hand power standerdization to gpus, personally I reccomend watching reviews on specific laptops. First thing, thanks for the review. It has been really great to see the machine up and running, just to have a visual reference to how big it is and how it looks on a desktop.
I still think that you missed a big opportunity here. Instead of comparing this machine to the big boys (of course it's going to be stinky, come on), you should have spent a bit more time talking about stuff that people really look for when buying a laptop on this range of price.
    I'll explain myself better.
Is the monitor good compared to same price laptops? I mean, I don't wanna make names (Lenovo, I'm looking at you), but usually monitors are pretty crap in this range of price.
Is it easily upgradable? Removing the back panel, adding more ram, changing nvme ssd, adding an additional ssd? (I've seen it open so that is a solid yes).
How's battery life, both during normal usage and gaming? MSI states 7 hours of battery life... is it true? (I guess not but I'd like to have an informed opinion)
Is the type c able to output a third display signal? You don't wanna use additional monitors for gaming on such a low specced laptop, but out there there are plenty of people that need a laptop with a dedicated gpu to run AutoCAD and other productivity applications (not everyone is a CZcamsr out there, you know... someone uses their laptops to study and do old boring jobs).
Is the red glowing keyboard easy to type on? Is the colour an annoyance during long sessions of writing in low light environments? To make it short: how bad is it compared to a normal white backlit keyboard?
Temperature monitoring was great btw, absolutely on point. And also pointing out the always spinning fan, even if it's not that loud on idle but still spinning nevertheless (but it's a gaming laptop, spinning fans are unfortunately part of the package).
Of course compared to a Razor Blade or an XPS this laptop loses on every front, but come on... they cost 3 times more. It's like suggesting a Tesla model X to someone looking for a Prius: of course it's better but that's not the point.
    Wish you the best.

I just bought the i5-10500 in it and after upgrading the ram it runs a lot smoother. I have a few sodimm ddr4 stick lying around and after getting it up to 16gb the bottleneck is more or less gone.
I have a few GTX and RTX builds and right now is April 2022 this laptop is a steal for the price considering a new 1650 would be $250-350 alone.
Everything outside of star citizen should run at 60FPS in med settings(i have a RTX 2060,i7 desktop that barely gets 30 avg on a good day so it's expected) Older games and eSports can run high/ultra with 60fps+. Considering the screen is 60hz will cap it at 60 unless running on a external monitor.

Believe me this laptop gets so much better when you add an i7 instead of i5 for about 1000, if you are on a budget and dont care about gaming, sure but I swear the i7 is worth it
Edit: you also get like 8 to 16 gig of ram instead of 4 if you get the more expensive one

ok he's just talking about the stuff that he notices aren't really the best not really bc hes "rich" hes just letting the consumer know what is on here that is on better quality laptops.

Dude Techne is one of the last tech CZcamsrs that reviews budget gaming equipment. He's stated before that he does this stuff because he knows not everyone can afford a 3k Razer Blade (I sure as hell can't) so maybe I'm someone in the market for a budget laptop for gaming (I'm not but someone here is). That's where this channel comes in handy, it's a realistic take on tech the average consumer can afford without skipping rent/bills. Maybe this helped a college student decide whether or not to buy this specific laptop, or a parent decide whether this is enough for their kid to get into the Fortnite PC scene. No reason to dog on Techne for comparing it to a top o' the line laptop, it helps set an expectation for the lower end stuff. I've never defended a content creator before but man Techne is real with his content, no fluff, no bias, just real, raw helpful opinions and reviews.

Hi guys, how is the typing experience on this laptop? I will use it for coding and gaming both. For gaming i see lots of good reviews but what about coding experience. I hope keyboard is solid and don't have any shake while typing.

I just got the exact same laptop for $500 on black Friday. Works great! But sound doesn't work through HDMI with Bethesda games; in-game sound won't play on my TV. Will have to reinstall sound driver to fix. No Man's Sky, Skyrim and Fallout 4 loads super fast, like Xbox Series X fast. It is a great laptop for the price.

I’m about to make the purchase on this model. Would you recommend as a business laptop. Eg. PowerPoint presentations, zoom meetings, occasional gaming ( flight simulator)at the most. Thanks in advance for response.

Quick question. On Fortnite, medium settings, does it get close to 80 FPS or higher? Also, does it run Warzone? I'm interested in buying a new laptop that can game not high demanding titles. But I'm stuck between choosing this laptop or the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3...
    Can anyone help me out?

and 60hz is fine for my use as i have a 165hz monitor that i run my 1440p 2070 super build on so its good for portable gaming and mostly schoolwork they also offer a 144hz version for the same in my region.
