Finally there's one video that shows the correct process with proof... Great job bro and thank you😊😊😊😊
I just did this to my fender and it worked great! I also sprayed a light coat on clear sidekicks to give them a textured, matte black finish.
Great Mod my man! Just got my fender back on and the soft thuds made me smile.
Mr. Chang, you do not make flashy high-end videos... However, daily-use observations from the perspective of a normal average beginner slowly learning the ins-and-outs of the onewheel is exactly what I am looking for.. As a brand new owner of a onewheel, I have come to appreciate your perspective and ideas.
I came to your channel to watch one video, and then I watched one more.. And now I am binge-watching all of your back episodes about onewheel.
Keep up the great work!
(p.s. You should add searchable hashtags to this video description: "unintentional asmr" and "no talking"
You will quickly rack up the views just saying)
Thanks! I'm glad you find them helpful. I'm new to this CZcams thing so I'll have to figure out how to do hashtags. Enjoy and be safe!
Same..... I even bought a one wheel because of his info and helpful videos
noticeably huge difference in sound comparison🤘🏽😎 thanks for sharing real world macgyver mentality for the onewheel that was awesome.
action speaks louder...like it..easy and proven techniques...bravo bro
Great job! The only thing I would suggest is sanding the fender lightly with 200 grit to improve adhesion before painting.
I'd probably also scrub the area with Comet cleanser to remove any oil from the surface.
This is the same exact plan I have for my fender, except I'm going to add butyl to the fenders and then rubberized undercoating to both the butyl and then the fender wheel well lining on both sides. A lot of people don' realize how much noise comes through the fenders.
I got my onewheel two days ago and am putting this on already. The noise isnt that bad once you get used to it but if i cam make it even quieter why wouldn’t I. Thanks for the great idea! Also with the fender off and waiting for it to dry ill try the wheel with out the fender on to see what its like.
Update: yes , this work better than expected. I highly suggest it.
Cheers for the update!
Hey Jimmy, just wondering if you have run into any problems since doing this? I plan on doing this soon mainly for better video sound while riding trails and NJ gravel ridden streets. Any issues with cleaning the fender or the rubber coming off in chunks or anything? As a newer rider your videos have helped for sure! Thankyou
Once again thanks for the video inspiration! I just finished painting my FM fender with the same 3M stuff that I purchased at Autozone for about $11 . As I was cleaning up, I thought, "Hmmm... I wonder Flex Seal Or Flex Tape would perform instead?" Has anybody tried this? Thoughts?
Nice video. I think ill do it with the next car maybe i do some xtra like both sides plus the wheel house it self the chassi .
Great work Jimmy. I was thinking about spraying my underside of my Onewheel Plastic Fender with the Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating Spray to quiet down the little pebbles getting thrown off the Tire and hitting the Fender. What my Question is, Are there any Negatives putting the Truck Bed Liner under the Fender?
Would putting a primer of sorts help with bonding? Would like to do this to the und of my car but don’t want to have it fly off when i get on the freeway
Sound test is awesome
How resistent is the coat to road debri, water splashes and stone chip damages ?
Good idea but I probably would have sprayed the back side. It would still create a sound deadening effect from the inside but would keep the smooth plastic facing the tire for easy cleaning. I would imagine dirt mud and snow clings like crazy to the textured rubber. Any updates on that?
I did the same. Dirt and mud are easily flush off. I tape some sound deadening foam on the back side.
If you don't mind my asking, to do 4 wheels, how many cans do you need? Thanks for the great video!
Cool! Good idea Jimmy 😜👍🏼
Is this rust proof. I did oil base rust proof just few months back for winter. Great video
I’d like to see it put to test while driving with an instrument measuring the dbs
Will this work on carbon fiber fender as well?
Ooh! This works great!
Will this work also for a car fender?
How someone experiences sound in a car is very personal. Yes the fender sounds different. But what inside your car. Is it really more silent or do you pretend it to be more silent because you applied the spray?
How much does it affect tire noise on the highway though?
I dont belive it reduces tire noise.
i guess if you want to sound proof gravels hitting the wheel wells. does not do anything for sound proofing road/tire noise getting into the cabin.
Won't you need a primer for this to set on plastic fender liners?
In particular adhesion promoter
Genius!
Why could you not rubber coat both sides??
I’ll bet a layer of a sound deadening material such as Dynamat , or any similar material would also work. There’re always a few scraps leftover when doing a vehicle.
Do you think the dynamat would reduce clearance between the wheel and the fender? Would it be durable enough?
Jimmy Chang It comes in thickness from 50 to 120 mil. I measured some Noico 80 mil I have and it is .08” as claimed. I’d look to you to determine if that leaves acceptable clearance. My OW arrives “tomorrow before 8:00 PM” and a fender a few days later. I can check myself then. Durability should be ok. Adhesion? It’s very sticky stuff, but needs to be tested.
@@pisgahlite Thanks for the info. Let me know how it goes!
@@pisgahlite Any updates on this? I had a similar idea today after I sprayed my fender with 3M.
I have the CR magnetic fender and noise has not been an issue for me. I just went out and tapped it with a screwdriver, very dead sound compare to yours. No need to deaden.
Good stuff
would flex seal work?
I haven't tried but I don't see why not! Does the material dry or is it sticky or tacky once it has set? Let me know if you try it.
I just put the flex seal on I’ll get back to you when ever it drys and I did it on my float fender not stock one wheel fender
@@charliekean9456 How did the Flex Seal turn out?
The best part was the drum solo
I need this. The carbon fiber fenders are ridiculously noisy.
Shouldn't your be spraying the opposite side????
Why not just add dynomat to the inside and outside layers.
plastic primer would be helpful
?????? But you put it on the side that gets wet. You put it on the wrong side.
That is not how tires noise work
Not much difference. Waste of money
Jimmy, that's 4 minutes of my life, that I will never get back. You never even showed if the noise was substantially reduced when mounted on the OW.
Also, for whom is this actually a problem? I made a fender from diamond-plate aluminum, and I guess it's more toward the "loud" end of the spectrum, but I had literally never even thought about that until seeing this video.

@@freshlycharged I felt bad about my rude comment yesterday. Sorry about that. I was just being grumpy. You make a lot of great vids. The for the channel.
@@hughjaynus it's all good. Quoting the Great Michael Scott, "It takes a big man to admit his mistakes... and [you] are that big man!"
LOL, road noise is not from screws and coins hitting metal plate but from the sound of the rubber tires riding on aspalt. We need soft absorbant materials like carpet or fibers to absorb the noise, not paint or rubberized aspalt.
