Thanks heaps. Making today. My daughter has cerebral plasey and some Kind (but over zealous) individual brought her a hover board. Now to make it usable for her:)

a tip: you can watch series at kaldroStream. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.

AMAZING IDEA !!!, and you just gave me the idea to try make it with pvc pipes ! It might be much cheaper, and lighter.

Great project..As a dad to 7 and a medic to each of them too many times you might consider bicycle grips on the ends of the control sticks( jousts). Braydon rocking on the ladder was classic. I've dealt with and still do with that trick. An ahh crap moment is when you come down off a 24' extension ladder to get a light fixture and you turn around to see your 4 year old sprinting up it.

Here is an idea! Instead of tape, run to Lowe’s and get a can of Tool Dip to put on the ends of your cut pipe. It’s rubber and drys fast. It’s in the paint department. Cool video by the way!

Such a cool idea. Probably the only way you could get me on a hoverboard...
Totally agree this is a project kids can easily get involved with.
I always thought the black pipe was always fairly expensive (for what it was). How much would you say one would spend on all that including all the fittings?

What a great concept! Much safer than the stupid original design which leads to guaranteed falls and serious injuries. Great job!

Hi, thanks for sharing this tutorial, we really appreciate it! I built a frame off your tutorial but we ran into some difficulties. May I ask how do you turn off the hoverboard? I cannot turn it off until the sensors are pressed by the pipes and they are fixed by the hose clamps. The only way I could manage to turn the Segway off was to remove both clamps but it's going to be painful if I have to do it time to time. Can you give any recommendations? Thanks!

    • @marchlander1

I don't realy know how these are built, but I suspect it wouldn't be good idea without replacing certain electronics. Fuses, resistors, capacitors, motors most likely and so on. Too much work.

@@rogueengineer Yeah, it might be time to educate the young ones on ladder safety. The old rule of thumb being you can go up the same number of steps as your age haha.
