Interceptor 650 fuel cap problem and solution.

- Here's a detailed video about the problematic fuel cap rubber of the Intereceptor650 and Continental GT650 and it's long term solution. Thanks to Road power Customs, I no longer have to replace all 3 locks on the motorcycle, that are Fuel Cap, Side panel and the Handle-lock/ Ignition.

Recently I worked on valve adjustment. Had to remove tank. Unfortunately for Baker Express model, it can leave yellow stains which are hard to remove. Be sure to lay the tank right way around and flat.

I have done it myself from used tractor tubes and they lasted the life of bike , why the hell manufacturers design such locks where soft seals are cut .To Change entire lock set and what do they do with replaced lock set . Scrap

Hi Bro can you please explain how to you clean the water exit hole on fuel tank. Surprisingly it's very small and post wash or rain water gets collected
Mine doesn’t. There is usually a rubber hose that comes to where the rear brake reservoir is. Ensure that is not cloged.

I ended up purchasing the same product for mine.
I currently have some choking left due to water getting in the tank because of the 'one time' leaving it in rain (Its reduced alot but not fully recovered yet). Do you have any recommendation or reference video on how to get it out? I know taking it to the showroom will have them telling me that I will need to replace a couple of parts for no reason and so will save that as the last resource.
I'm glad that you found this channel and found this video useful.
To get the remaining water out, you will have to take it to an experienced mechanic who will take out your tank, drain the fuel from it, and then remove the fuel pump. Clean them both and put them back together. It is definitely a tedious process but on the upside, you only have to do this once.

My fuel tank fills with water in Rainy day will this solve my problem?
yeah, one should avoid parking and riding in the rain. If you know that it is about to rain then better to cover it up. much better, cheaper and easier to avoid than to buy a replacement. The high quality rubber is there to prevent it from being damaged due to dust and other elements. It should be fine in rain. But still avoid parking or riding in rain.

No idea. If the 650 fuel cap fits 535 then it might.
Have a doubt, won’t RE service do the same by replacing the rubber with a new one 🤓
Yes they will replace it, but what they do is a bit different. They Change the petrol tank cap lock, side panel lock and the ignition lock, since all three are opened by the same key. And they might take 2 weeks or longer to replace it. So if you are going on a vacation for that long, then go ahead give it to RE service center. 😉 or just replace the rubber cap yourself. Which is what I did. 🤓
