The operations from the old naval airport were moved to CIAL on 1 July 1999.

I usually travel through CCJ and COK is really good compared to it, in fact id say its among the best I've gone through (I haven't been a lot of places) compared to DXB, Saudi(I went for Hajj pilgrimage I don't know which airport) and Kuwair

Some factual error regarding history of Cochin airport. It was not an airstrip constructed in 1936 and commenced Operations in 1999. Earlier, naval airport was being utilised for limited commercial operations. During gulf boom, it became necessary that a new airport is required. CIAL is a green field airport away from Naval airport which commenced commercial operations in 1999.
