@@stepanok Ok, I want to respond to this, Not because I am upset, But because you're doing two things that I imagine you didn't intend to. I just want you to be aware of them... 1. Many of us habitually tell people how they should or shouldn't feel, with very good intentions ("don't cry, everything is ok" or "don't worry about that, everything will be fine") but we should not. Emotions are not the same as facts. Each of us feels our own emotions, and no one gets to dictate otherwise. For example, I feel some guilt here because I WANT the updates, and so I view. If these videos were getting no views, Dan would not be making updates for us. So I feel some responsibility for encouraging him to give us his precious time. That's an emotion I'm feeling, among a complicated mix of feelings. You can suggest how I can avoid feeling that way, but you can't just say I'm wrong. Feelings aren't like that. 2. You say you "100% disagree" with what Dan is doing ...and yet here you are, watching? But why, if you disagree so strongly? Do you only disagree with part of his actions? We can't tell. Because you make a strong statement of criticism, yet you refuse to explain what you're criticizing. You don't walk into a party and tell the host "I 100% disagree with what you chose to wear tonight, but this isn't the time and place to get into it" If it's the right time to criticize strongly, it's the right time to explain yourself. If it's not the right time to explain yourself, it's not the time to criticize. Done regularly to the same person, that second one is considered covert/emotional abuse, so it's important to recognize if we are doing that without realizing it.
melissa saint - I don’t as Dan loves making videos as he has said before. I do however feel totally lost for words when trying to think of the right thing to say. I do think some people make some ignorant comments without thinking properly, maybe that’s because they are ignorant, naive or young.....
I want your mum and your dad to adopt me. They are the best and we love them so. He reminds me of the lovely Emily Hayward .. she went the gym a few days before she died ! Neither Dan nor Emily deteriorated completely before they passed which was a blessing .. although Emily was in better shape than Dan I think . Two wonderful young people taken too soon by the dreaded big ‘C’ .. rest in peace x
He died exactly ten days later. Went down SO fast at this point. What an awesome person he was. Just so ya know....he had one of the worst cancers possible. Growing to outside as well as inside. He was precious and amazing.

After he said that his liver is basically shutting down, I knew he would pass very soon. There is nothing that could have been done at this point. May he rest in peace.

That's usually how it goes. When my dad died it was days. He went from laughing chillin. He even mowed the yard. Then dead in less than a week. When the cancer explodes it just explodes. The good part is it happens so fast you can't really register what is happening to you.
Ruhe1986 I don’t mean to be rude or anything at all, but the last week(s) of cancer are extremely painful and although it ends quick the patient absolutely registers almost anything unless given many many meds which usually doesn’t help at this point anymore anyway. My mom was an oncology nurse in Germany and told me about many of the patients she had and how they often suffered despite all the precautions etc taken by doctors and nurses. You can definitely register it, just not how fast it happens. It’s just like with how people say someone died of liver failure and if its this painless process... even though it’s painful and you basically turn into a liquid ballon: anyway... sorry again but yeah cancer sucks everything about it sucks and hurts
@@justcruzin7844 Although only Dan and his family have been told what to expect next, it's easy to make assumptions when he mentions going to speak to the hospice team, while previously he's only mentioned palliative care. Heartbreaking either way. I hope he knows just how much people care about him.
Honestly Dan you have the most precious parents. Always driving you to and from the hospital. Many on this page have become attached to you and to your suffering. I pray the Lord will bless you with His Comfort and His Peace that surpasses all understanding. yes he died a week after he made this video. very frightening. Do the NHS do whole body cancer checks? you would think they would want to do a scan on every person e.g. when they turn 30, just so they can catch things like this early?
@@mikesully110 Totally agree! It seems they rule out the least important issues first not the worst case scenario illnesses. Or they wait for things to get worse instead of preventing them! Huge lesson to always get things checked ASAP to catch it early! He had so much more to give and he handled everything with incredible humour, positivity and strength! It's scary how we never know how much time we have so we must make the most of everything x
I only found this because of recommendations 2 days ago and keep watching the videos over and over again i just can’t believe how positive he was such a strong person he tried to make the most terrible thing ever into something positive and he had a great personality to may he rest in peace
Listening to him on this video and then the one he did in hospice on the 20th what a difference in his voice. He went downhill real quick in just two days. After such a hard long fight, I hope he's comfortable and happy where he is. R.I.P Dan, an unbelievable soul with humour. I actually found this channel a week before his death.

SO VERY GLAD YOU'RE FREE FROM THE HOSPITAL!!!! We can see how exhausted you are and I know you dont feel that amazing strength you have....but we all know its there! You've done an incredible job at proving the docs wrong so far and I know in my heart you'll do it again! I know the ultrasound showed that your liver is worse, but I also know first hand what an awesome organ it is. I want to tell you alittle bit about a close friend I had with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Like you she was a fighter and like you she constantly proved the docs wrong! I was her advocate being she didn't know alot about the medical system. The docs were basically writing her off from the get go and I told her not to listen. On one of her first ER visits, due to dehydration and fever, they automatically sent down hospice people and the doc told me in front of her that they could just keep her comfortable cause death was inevitable. WTF!! We all know death is inevitable it's part of being human! BUT only God knows when! So, I proceeded to rip the doc a new one and tell her there would be NO MORE talk like that and we didn't need hospice hovering! The chemo had caused this problem and it was just another obstacle to overcome! Long story short, she was out of the hospital in a couple days and ended up living for another year from the day they said that "death was inevitable." Her scans were always scarey bad, and there were days when we thought it was close to the end...however like you she kicked ass and proved all the docs wrong! What I'm trying to say is don't let all the "experts" and their test results take away your hope! There is always hope, and sometimes miracles! You keep fighting for the months that you want, and we will all keep praying, sending positive thoughts and energy to you!! We have all fallen in love with you and your family and we will be here for you no matter what!! AS ALWAYS SENDING LOTS OF LOVE AND HUUUGE HUGS TO YOU ALL!! 😙🤗❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Jackie and Danielle! I've been in and out of hospitals for 30 years and have seen the magic of medicine and unfortunately the very dark side of medicine! I've also lost too many family and friends to cancer! It infuriates me when docs give up on a patient because of a diagnosis or test result! Not saying all doctors are bad, cause I've had many amazing, caring docs in my life. But when you're scared, hurting and losing hope and a doc only gives you the doom and gloom it's very easy to believe them. I'm praying Dan doesn't do that and keeps his beautiful fighting spirit!

I know every person's battle with cancer is different but. my neighbour was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and given just six weeks to live but 2 years later she is still with us and in remission. As a neighbour and a friend it was horrible to see her looking so frail during her battle with it. She has permanent side effects from chemo but said she's glad to be alive and i am too because she is such nice person. I thank the NHS, the nurses and her husband who cared for during her battle. Sadly some other people aren't so lucky but i know that one day every form of cancer will be cured. We just have to find it.
I know the kitty will be happy to see you guys ❤️ Get as many cuddles as you can with the furbaby. It will make you feel more peaceful, despite what's going on.
I needed to comment. I have a stray kitty visiting me nightly for food and cuddles.He was absolutely terrified of me at first but now his meows and the way he rubs against my hand gives me life especially now i'm not so great. Funnily i was never a cat but more a dog person. I now believe that one who says that just hasn't found their kitty and when they do they will know.
Oh man, I have just started to watch your videos. As an otolaryngologist I see this a lot. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this trying time. Keep moving and trying to eat ( meal replacements with minerals is best at this stage)also rest when you feel tired, don't have a lot of people around you at these times. Your body needs to rest and if you are having a lot of people around you are going to want to stay up when you should be resting. If you need anything please feel free to send me your email and we can talk I can help prepare you with some realistic expectations most hospice care teams don't give.
I'm sure you mean well, but, rest for what? Yes, I agree he will have a significant decrease in his energy levels...but, being palliative does not mean, already passed. He should live as much as his body will allow him and surround himself with all the love he can. It looks to me like he is doing exactly that. As far as "some realistic expectations", sometimes....Less is More.

However I cringe at the thought that I will be where Dan is probably within the next couple of years. All well that's life, for now I will live in the present moment, keep travelling and keep riding. I hate the up and down rollercoaster ride that cancer is. My husband went through the same thing. One day, you're on top of the world because you're feeling pretty good and the next day, you're sick and exhausted and just plain tired of being sick and exhausted. I'm so sorry that the last couple of days have been so rough for you. It hurts my heart to see you suffering. A huge shout-out to Becky, your Mom and Dad and the rest of your family and friends. I'm a working novelist who is also a late-stage cancer survivor. I was watching these when Dan passed. I think about him weekly still. He was and is very much one of my "people. I've been writing a novel about cancer survival (the only time I've written about it and I'm a decade out), I've been forced to revisit some difficult situations and have been revisiting some of Dan's videos to refresh my own brain about how I felt when I was there. I love you, Dan. I miss you.

My mom had myelodysplasia for about 7 years. 5 years into it, they started hospice care and it was very helpful not only for her, but for the family. I am sorry you are having a hard time of it, but happy to see you are going home where you can hopefully be more comfortable and with your fam. Snuggle with your kitty a little, will make you feel a little better.

He reminds me of the lovely Emily Hayward .. she went the gym a few days before she died ! Neither Dan nor Emily deteriorated completely before they passed which was a blessing .. although Emily was in better shape than Dan I think . Two wonderful young people taken too soon by the dreaded big ‘C’ .. rest in peace x

He died exactly ten days later. Went down SO fast at this point. What an awesome person he was. Just so ya know....he had one of the worst cancers possible. Growing to outside as well as inside. He was precious and amazing.

That's usually how it goes. When my dad died it was days. He went from laughing chillin. He even mowed the yard. Then dead in less than a week. When the cancer explodes it just explodes. The good part is it happens so fast you can't really register what is happening to you.

Ruhe1986 I don’t mean to be rude or anything at all, but the last week(s) of cancer are extremely painful and although it ends quick the patient absolutely registers almost anything unless given many many meds which usually doesn’t help at this point anymore anyway. My mom was an oncology nurse in Germany and told me about many of the patients she had and how they often suffered despite all the precautions etc taken by doctors and nurses. You can definitely register it, just not how fast it happens. It’s just like with how people say someone died of liver failure and if its this painless process... even though it’s painful and you basically turn into a liquid ballon: anyway... sorry again but yeah cancer sucks everything about it sucks and hurts

Heartbreaking either way. I hope he knows just how much people care about him.
Honestly Dan you have the most precious parents. Always driving you to and from the hospital. Many on this page have become attached to you and to your suffering. I pray the Lord will bless you with His Comfort and His Peace that surpasses all understanding. yes he died a week after he made this video. very frightening. Do the NHS do whole body cancer checks? you would think they would want to do a scan on every person e.g. when they turn 30, just so they can catch things like this early?
@@mikesully110 Totally agree! It seems they rule out the least important issues first not the worst case scenario illnesses. Or they wait for things to get worse instead of preventing them! Huge lesson to always get things checked ASAP to catch it early! He had so much more to give and he handled everything with incredible humour, positivity and strength! It's scary how we never know how much time we have so we must make the most of everything x

Listening to him on this video and then the one he did in hospice on the 20th what a difference in his voice. He went downhill real quick in just two days. After such a hard long fight, I hope he's comfortable and happy where he is. R.I.P Dan, an unbelievable soul with humour. I actually found this channel a week before his death.

SO VERY GLAD YOU'RE FREE FROM THE HOSPITAL!!!! We can see how exhausted you are and I know you dont feel that amazing strength you have....but we all know its there! You've done an incredible job at proving the docs wrong so far and I know in my heart you'll do it again! I know the ultrasound showed that your liver is worse, but I also know first hand what an awesome organ it is. I want to tell you alittle bit about a close friend I had with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Like you she was a fighter and like you she constantly proved the docs wrong! I was her advocate being she didn't know alot about the medical system. The docs were basically writing her off from the get go and I told her not to listen. On one of her first ER visits, due to dehydration and fever, they automatically sent down hospice people and the doc told me in front of her that they could just keep her comfortable cause death was inevitable. WTF!! We all know death is inevitable it's part of being human! BUT only God knows when! So, I proceeded to rip the doc a new one and tell her there would be NO MORE talk like that and we didn't need hospice hovering! The chemo had caused this problem and it was just another obstacle to overcome! Long story short, she was out of the hospital in a couple days and ended up living for another year from the day they said that "death was inevitable." Her scans were always scarey bad, and there were days when we thought it was close to the end...however like you she kicked ass and proved all the docs wrong! What I'm trying to say is don't let all the "experts" and their test results take away your hope! There is always hope, and sometimes miracles! You keep fighting for the months that you want, and we will all keep praying, sending positive thoughts and energy to you!! We have all fallen in love with you and your family and we will be here for you no matter what!! AS ALWAYS SENDING LOTS OF LOVE AND HUUUGE HUGS TO YOU ALL!! 😙🤗❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you Jackie and Danielle! I've been in and out of hospitals for 30 years and have seen the magic of medicine and unfortunately the very dark side of medicine! I've also lost too many family and friends to cancer! It infuriates me when docs give up on a patient because of a diagnosis or test result! Not saying all doctors are bad, cause I've had many amazing, caring docs in my life. But when you're scared, hurting and losing hope and a doc only gives you the doom and gloom it's very easy to believe them. I'm praying Dan doesn't do that and keeps his beautiful fighting spirit!

Every time he says the word ‘hospice’ my heart drops😢
I know every person's battle with cancer is different but. my neighbour was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and given just six weeks to live but 2 years later she is still with us and in remission. As a neighbour and a friend it was horrible to see her looking so frail during her battle with it. She has permanent side effects from chemo but said she's glad to be alive and i am too because she is such nice person. I thank the NHS, the nurses and her husband who cared for during her battle. Sadly some other people aren't so lucky but i know that one day every form of cancer will be cured. We just have to find it.
I know the kitty will be happy to see you guys ❤️ Get as many cuddles as you can with the furbaby. It will make you feel more peaceful, despite what's going on.

I have a stray kitty visiting me nightly for food and cuddles.He was absolutely terrified of me at first but now his meows and the way he rubs against my hand gives me life especially now i'm not so great. Funnily i was never a cat but more a dog person. I now believe that one who says that just hasn't found their kitty and when they do they will know.

Oh man, I have just started to watch your videos. As an otolaryngologist I see this a lot. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this trying time. Keep moving and trying to eat ( meal replacements with minerals is best at this stage)also rest when you feel tired, don't have a lot of people around you at these times. Your body needs to rest and if you are having a lot of people around you are going to want to stay up when you should be resting. If you need anything please feel free to send me your email and we can talk I can help prepare you with some realistic expectations most hospice care teams don't give.

I'm sure you mean well, but, rest for what? Yes, I agree he will have a significant decrease in his energy levels...but, being palliative does not mean, already passed. He should live as much as his body will allow him and surround himself with all the love he can. It looks to me like he is doing exactly that. As far as "some realistic expectations", sometimes....Less is More.

Becky, thank you so much for being with Dan. He is a very lucky man to have you in his life especially at this incredible stressful and sad time in his life. I know it must be incredible hard for you dealing with the fact that your brand new husband is going to pass away soon. I too have terminal Cancer but unlike Dan I dont have someone like you in my life to care for me and to love me. Im a 53 year old man alone, lonely and dying of Cancer having to do everything on my own. Dan is a very lucky man to have you 24/7. Take care and thanks for all your caring, love and effort. :)

@@paigecarpenter2001 Thanks. All I have is my travelling around the world and riding my motorcycle. I know compared to many people I should be grateful for that and I am. However I cringe at the thought that I will be where Dan is probably within the next couple of years. All well that's life, for now I will live in the present moment, keep travelling and keep riding. It's just hard sometimes dealing with this alone. I mean I have a few friends but at the end of the day I am always alone. Anyway this channel is not about me. I hate the up and down rollercoaster ride that cancer is. My husband went through the same thing. One day, you're on top of the world because you're feeling pretty good and the next day, you're sick and exhausted and just plain tired of being sick and exhausted. I'm so sorry that the last couple of days have been so rough for you. It hurts my heart to see you suffering. A huge shout-out to Becky, your Mom and Dad and the rest of your family and friends. I know all too well what it feels like to watch someone you love have to go through what you are and feel completely helpless because they can't do anything to take it away. They are courageous and strong as well. Now that you are on you way home, I hope that you can get some much needed rest and just enjoy time with them and your new kitten. Love and Hugs.

I'm a working novelist who is also a late-stage cancer survivor. I was watching these when Dan passed. I think about him weekly still. He was and is very much one of my "people. I've been writing a novel about cancer survival (the only time I've written about it and I'm a decade out), I've been forced to revisit some difficult situations and have been revisiting some of Dan's videos to refresh my own brain about how I felt when I was there. I love you, Dan. I miss you.

My mom had myelodysplasia for about 7 years. 5 years into it, they started hospice care and it was very helpful not only for her, but for the family. I am sorry you are having a hard time of it, but happy to see you are going home where you can hopefully be more comfortable and with your fam. Snuggle with your kitty a little, will make you feel a little better.
