About the deadzone,that happens because the xbox joystick is smaller than the ps4 joystick,so in Xbox to be more precise, people use it a little bit higher
One extra thing about video settings, turn all those settings off like he said but ENABLE transparent goalpost, that way you can see from inside your net

as for CSTS or STS, CSTS makes tiny micro adjustments to your game's speed, usually within the 0.1% range, while STS makes the same adjustments but over longer time periods. STS is better if your network performance is good, since you're avoiding unnecessary game speed adjustments, but generally most people do not notice these adjustments at all, so you should always use CSTS
EDIT: default is absolutely the worst setting here. it can duplicate or throw out controller inputs sent to the server, which you absolutely do not want. CSTS and STS are meant to avoid this behaviour. while default does not adjust your game speed, it instead can cause even more 'lag' (more accurately it's making the effects of lag worse than they need to be)

Just want to thank you as I recently hit GC1, much of it thanks to your videos
So I’m gc2, and I’ve been extremely annoyed about one thing, and that’s input lag. I didn’t know how to fix it and I kind of just grew accustomed to being pushed off the ball, having very sloppy air dribbles, and having slightly slower reaction times. You showing and actually talking about the input buffer showed massive improvements in literal seconds. This is the one thing I was missing. Tysm dude!
Also depends what you're playing on. In my experience, I've played on Xbox One, Ps4, Ps5 and pc, console tends to have alot of input lag and pc doesn't.
Rn I'm losing my shit cos idk how to fix my controller from disconnecting when I move it up and down for literal seconds
@@jack3743 try cleaning out the thing that holds the batteries im too tired rn to think, but usually if thats dirty the batteries will just pop out

Changing input buffer to CSTS has made a huge difference. I’ve never heard anyone talk about this setting in years of playing. I’m still on an old Xbox one but now it feels like I’m on a pc 😅

Editing is absolutely insane
Well studied and helpful opinions. Nothing is set in stone. Many pros have found massively different settings and bindings. Zen has badass control of his air roll's speed with R2/L2. Ways to grip the controller is a game changer as well. I use my ring finger to press R2 and my middle finger to press R1 so my index finger can press triangle. That alone will open your opportunities to find your own bindings.

Hey man, the bit you said about input lag on console - would a wired controller fix this?
I feel like switching controller settings like steering and aerial sensitivity overtime was the worst mistake for me. Whenever I have gotten used to higher sensitivity I have felt no difference than what my older setting were. All it did was take up more of my time adjusting to new settings. Players like firstkiller, daniel, beastmode and many other fast mechanical players use lower senstitivities than me. I think players should just test out there sensitivities, for example I used to have a hard time turning for shots consistently so I turned down my steering sens slightly, now it feels easier to turn for shots. After you switch your settings, use them for a long time, getting used to settings over a long period will probably show more improvement than turning up settings without a reason.
Steering sens has everything to do how comfortable you are mechanically on the ground. If your powerslide cuts and precision in general isn't excellent, then yeah lower sens is probably better until you get more controlled. Then you may move to a higher sens if desired as it will give you a very small advantage. Same goes for aerial sens. If your aerial control isn't excellent, then just keep it low. There are plenty of freestylers and pros who have low sens for both. It's ALL preference but there is a range that is supposed to be generally good, as with most settings in RL

CSTS should be used for spotty or unstable connections, but if your network and ISP are playing nice STS is superior from a stability standpoint.
That makes a lot of sense,my internet is not stable then i put CSTS,but once i tried STS and it was horrible

I keep my airoll on L1 it’s much more comfortable and my power slide on L1 to its good when your landing and when you holding L1 you can air roll and power slide at the same time so it’s much more efficient and my boost is on circle and jump is on X

I put powerslide on R1 like he did but I can't practice in freeplay without putting everything in starting positions. It's the same button. Anyway to fix this?
So, I binded my left air roll, same as my powerslide is that good for gameplay.
For the fat finger problem I personally come from playing controller on COD. But I play claw for rocket league. So I use my thumb for my right stick, and A. BUT that means that my right trigger is going to be pressed by my middle finger. And my Y and B are pressed by my index finger. Just for you guys to know.
I changed boost to X and jump to square. You have to fat finger both the same time but you can basically boost with the joint of the thumb and jump with the tip of the thumb. Much more comfortable than default and you can easily do both.
I use these controls too! Its defs better than the default fat finger but I do wonder if it still does hold some of my mechanics back.
@@zuff08 let me guess, you changed LB to left air roll and RB to right air roll? If you did, welcome brother. I’ve tried a bunch of other bindings but found this to be the best for me. You’re going to have to give and take but my current bindings that I’ve kept for at least a couple of years has had way more benefits than not.
The only thing that I don’t like about my bindings is that I changed power slide to LB also. It’s not as good as if I were to bind it to a joystick air roll because I have to time the power slide when I get to the ground but I’ve gotten used to it and don’t see myself giving up one of my directional air rolls to get more seamless power slides.
I use lb and rb/ my top bumpers for airoll, is that bad?

while regular air roll is good for ground stuff and all learning ar roll right and left completely would be better off in the long run
Get a scuf or elite controller with paddles and buttons aren’t an issue. I can drive/brake and press a,x,y,b at the same time

Kind of surprised you didn’t bring up Zen’s controls with air roll left/right on one of the triggers. Let’s you control the speed of your air roll
It's common knowledge, it's just that Zen is a well-known player that uses it and has brought a lot of attention to free air roll

Confused too, seems like it is the talk of the community at the moment. Many people think of changing their controls and I was hoping this video would provide good ideas for layouts.

How about showing it all at once instead of making everyone constantly replay to for the bindings, literally do it on purpose making it more complicated then it needs to be.
I use stock bindings I have got way too much memory with it the only bit I changed was having air roll right on my swichs r button
