    Thanks for doing these range tests! I have both of the scooters as well, and was the one reaching out to you about the weird display issues with the Go. Both are really great, but overall I give the edge to the Apollo due to liking the more sporty feel. Keep pumping out your awesome content!

      Thank you! How do you like the feel of the ride on the Go so far? For me, it may be one of the crispest feeling scooters I’ve ridden to date. Feels very well put together.

    Mine came in the mail today. Idk about the range because my city is very hilly, but I’m pretty confident it can take me an 8-10 mile round trip with the speed set to 20-25mph. Hill climbing ability is impressive. The weight is pretty impressive too. I think it’s light considering its capability. Pending any electrical issues I really don’t think I’ll regret this purchase. Tiny gripe is I think my suspension is a little squeaky but that’s fine. I really think it should have a front brake as well. Overall I think it’s great

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Congrats! I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I actually cruised around with max speed set to 28mph the other day and spent most of the time in full throttle and finished at 11 miles with 26% remaining. So I think your 8-10 is definitely doable. How are you liking the feel of the suspension so far?

    • @berengerchristy6256
      @berengerchristy6256 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@tomsgadgetgarage I think the suspension is just OK, but I don't have any other scooters as a point of comparison. I did mountain bike back in the day, so that's why I think it's only just OK. probably partly due to the small wheels, but the rear suspension is definitely the weak point. if they do a revision the rear could stand to be coil sprung with hydraulic compression/rebound adjustment, but that might bump up cost too much, so maybe keep that for the city pro or Apollo pro
      I also think they should make the way the stem locks to the body much more simple like on the gotrax G4. sure it's not as sleek but most of the time I push the unlock button and the thingy doesn't actually come out

    I was thinking about the Apollo Go again and it reminds me of a modern Vsett 8+ / Splach Twin. The idea of a sub 50lb dual motor scooter is really appealing to me. I own the Splach twin with solid tires and it's quite fun with dual 600w motors. It's comes in a touch over 53lbs but it also has a 768Wh battery. I have a friend who wants to purchase it from me but I like the "light dual" motor so much that I'd have to replace it with something similar. I thought the Go was going to be that scooter but the range falls a good 7-8 miles behind the Twin. I even eked 33mi out of it once rolling around at 12-14mph. I'd like to see other contemporary dual motor light weights like the Go but with more range. I guess I can still cross my fingers for a Go "Max."

      I have a pre-order in on the Zatori io+ since last November. Dual 400w motors, peak 1500W with 720Wh battery. Only has suspension in the rear though. They keep delaying the shipment so who knows, but I’m pretty excited about it.

    This was an excellent test for range. I do like the idea of the speed reduction and acceleration settings so thats a very good thing. I still think this is a great choice for my son but i would like for him to have more range so we can both ride at about 19mph at a park or a nice bike route. This is still definitely on my list of choices for a new scooter for my boy. Thank you so much Tom for making this video. I know it took you a lot of time to make it and shorten the video. 😁🙏

      Ha! Yah I have to really look at maps closely. My wife found this route for a bike ride and I had no clue it existed. Turned out to be what equates to 100+ miles of canal systems, most of which are also bike and walking paths. This scooting and biking stuff has opened my eyes to the cool stuff around me I would have otherwise never known existed. Will have to check out maps in your town. There’s gotta be some good stuff somewhere.

    Another great review. I am so glad i found your channel. I am looking forward to the South Mountain range test.
    And just a quick question. Is there a way to turn off one of the motors? I know they are smaller motors than the g2. And if you could do without one, would you want to?
    I am talking about the downhill portion of your range test. I am strictly flat land here. But i am also 240. So it would not apply to me anyway. I am just curious if it is possible. I have smaller friends that love my g2. I have yet to push my scooter. But i have reached the speed reduction just this evening. One bar left. And the first ride i forgot to record.
    My guess is about 21 miles.

      Thank you! There doesn’t appear to be a way to disable a motor/switch to single motor mode. Given the size of the motor, I likely wouldn’t want the option to use one motor. I’ve ridden scooters with single 350w motors and although they get the job done, they aren’t very quick. Good for a Sunday cruise around the neighborhood though.
      The Max G2 is a fun and very capable scooter. It also has the advantage of having a very plush suspension. The Go on the other hand is a lot more zippy and gets to speed significantly faster.

    More or less the same range as the Ninebot Max G30P on sport mode done by Ginger on Wheels if the Apollo Go retains sport mode all the way at 20mph.
    That's still pretty impressive for a lightweight and compact dual-motor scooter especially when used in conjunction with public transit on a very long commute!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 2 měsíci

      Oh for sure. All in, for a dual motor scooter at 46lbs, riding around various surfaces and tackling some inclines along the way, I’m happy with the 19.2 miles.

    Thanks for the comparison ! I’m debating which scooter to get as my first scooter . I’m stuck between ninebot max g2 and this one , I only commute 4.9 miles to work in flat brand new sidewalks in south Florida

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 2 měsíci +2

      That’s a tough decision haha. So here’s a couple more data points. The Go has excellent lighting, the best I’ve seen on a commuter scooter. The light bar provides excellent coverage to the front and sides. With the G2, I’d recommend buying an extra light.
      The G2 does have a more plush suspension for riding on rougher roads. The Go still has a good suspension, just not as plush.
      The Go is a faster scooter with really good on demand power. It has no issue hitting 27-28mph. It’s also 7 pounds lighter.
      The Segway does have 1” larger tires. Generally, the bigger the tires, the better. In my testing, I haven’t noticed much of a difference, but then again, I’m not testing performance in potholes. I recommend looking well ahead and avoid potholes and uneven slabs of pavement with any scooter.
      The Segway does have a range advantage. I was able to cover 22 miles vs the Go’s 19.2 miles in my testing.
      The Go has the brake advantage as it has a rear drum and electronic braking in both the front and rear wheels. The Segway has a front drum and rear electronic brake.

      @mesiken487 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@tomsgadgetgarage thank you !! Currently I’m leaning more towards the max G2 since it’s 150-200$ cheaper and I will only be riding during the day time as of now . Just when it’s day light savings time I might be caught during dawn or night time
      In my opinion I feel 20-22 mph might be enough anyways but it’s always nice for that extra speed as well lol
      I also like that “find my” feature for the g2
      I’ll sleep on it for a couple more days lol

    Can it switch to single motor mode?

  • @Patriot36
    @Patriot36 Před měsícem +1

    Despite all its niceties, the main issue with this scooter is the lack of overall versatility due to limited range. With reviewers seeing 14 - 19 miles max, with at least one reviewer cruising at 20mph until it would no longer sustain, which is fairly unimpressive. Apollo used 30 x 21700 cells in 10 series, 3 parallel. Had they simply gone with 40 cells in 10 Series 4 Parallel, it would have transformed this scooter into one of the most versatile units in scooter history while not giving up any of it's other fantastic attributes. Adding 10 cells would add less than 2lbs to this unit, even factoring in a slightly deeper battery tub. I wish they'd make a "max" version with 40 cells and 2-3" wider handlebars so that there was room to add an accessory or two... lights, bell, etc. I love everything else about the this scooter but the range is an issue compared to its competitors from Niu, Segway, VMAX and others.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před měsícem +1

      Yah it would be nice to get more range out of it, but it sure is one heck of a ride for those 14-19 miles.
      A max version of it sounds like a good idea. Maybe with a magnesium alloy or carbon frame to accommodate for the extra weight of a larger battery. I’d definitely pay the difference for something like that.

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36 Před měsícem +1

      @@tomsgadgetgarage Yes, that's an interesting idea with those materials and reminds me of the NIU KQi air. I suppose it all depends on what those materials and reengineering would cost in order to cancel out the 2lbs that may go unnoticed or ignored. 10 x 21000 cells weighs 1.56lbs and would only have an actual cost to Apollo (with their bulk buying power) of $5 per cell or $50 total cost for EVE cells. They could charge another $100 for a Max version and still double their money.

      @@tomsgadgetgarage By the way, if you're ever up for a Tempe / Mesa ride, I'd be happy to meet up with you on a day off. My brother and I did 51 miles yesterday from Chaparral greenbelt, to Tempe, Mesa, Sky Harbor, and Papago. We took my Emove Cruiser S and Roadrunner RS5 Max. It was enjoyable because we paid no attention to the range and rode wherever we wanted. Did a lot of cruising at 16-18mph and had 49.7V and 49.9V left on the two scooters when I got home... somewhere around 45% capacity remaining. Only 82F downtown yesterday but it looks like 90's later this week.

      Ha, same day! That's funny! I definitely would have waved you down and introduced myself had I seen you. We started fairly early around McCormick Ranch and went to Mesa, then headed west past Sky Harbor and went as far as 16th St, on the north side of the river bed. We came back to the lake and followed the Grand Canal to the water feature. Later we stopped at Cornish Pasty on University when they opened at 11:00 and after that rode to Papago. The Cruiser showed 51mi. the RS5 Max showed 53mi and I failed to start my GPS back up after one of our stops so I don't know exactly what we did but it's in that ball park.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 2 měsíci +3

      I kept as much the same as possible so I can compare this scooter to its top competitor, the Ninebot Max G2. They both have nearly identical battery capacity and voltage, the big difference being single motor vs dual motor. If you’re curious what the range is for a 205lb payload on relatively flat asphalt in 60F temps in sport mode at max speed with acceleration set to 50% with stop and go every ~1/4 mile, you can expect about 13-14miles. This is what I observed while riding around testing max speed, acceleration, and riding stability at top speed.
      I may consider doing an “official” top speed range test for the heck of it, but it’s not really feasible to do max speed range tests with all scooters, especially with machines like the Wolf King GTR or InMotion RS. I try and test with what I believe, based on data and observations, to be relevant to the average ride.
