I realised which character was telling Tress’ story before it was revealed in the text because I recognised the voice that Michael Kramer used for them. If that’s not a sign of brilliant voice acting I don’t know what is.

The only other time I've had that was the reveal of who the Weaver is in first law, because again the character has such a distinctive voice. But I really liked that about Tress

    • @Nexol13
      @Nexol13 Před rokem +2

@@brandonsommers8423 I dunno about the very first epigraph, because he reads it rather neutrally until it gets farther on. I think that by the time he’s about a third of the way through, though, he had figured it out because the voice is very much in-character.

I listen to audiobooks while at work. I'm a carpenter who splits my time between Canada and Brazil, spending my winters down south, and my summers up north. Less than a week ago, I heard about Brandon Sanderson for the first time from a random youtube video about highest ranked science fiction/ fantasy writers. I thought, "Ah, I'll check out this guy who seems to be on several people's #1 slot... Braaaandon Saaanderson." Listen here, I just got through the first Mistborn book today, and I. Am. Hooked. I usually have a wireless speaker playing the audio tracks in my open air workshop here in Brazil, but today I was using a chainsaw for most of the day, and switched to headphones because I COULDN'T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I am going to be purchasing them all. THEM. ALL. Haha, great stuff!

Thank you so much Brandon & team for this video. The first book I've read from you is actually Tress of the Emerald Sea, prior to this, I've been watching your CZcams Class lectures and just following along. It felt like perfect timing, I was in the midst of moving to somewhere new, was extremely stressed and depressed due to having been laid off work, unable to find a new job and wondering what I was going to do with my life.
The first night in our new apartment, we had no internet and I had JUST received the audiobook and eBook so I clicked on it, still stressed and trying not to cry, feeling like I was this worthless thing that was bringing everyone down....and Michael's Kramer voice washed over the room. I found myself curling up on my couch, reading along while listening to his voice as he told Tress story. Suddenly, my problems didn't seem to huge and overwhelming, I felt like I could breath again.
It gave me the strength to continue and when things start to feel overwhelming I sit down, press play and listen to Tress of the Emerald Sea, so thank you both to Brandon & team as well as Michael Kramer for such a wonderful job narrating.
Really enjoyed this video, learning about the process done but also about them as two beautiful soul. Looking forward to getting the whole collection of their audiobooks and Brandon's work!

Kate's Pattern and Michael's Dalinar are in my opinion some of the best audiobook performances ever.
Thse two are icons of this space and hearing either of their voices takes me back to when I first heard them bring life to these wonderful stories

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are legends, and I've always enjoyed their performance when listening to any audiobook that has used their voice.

These stories are pure gold. Thank you for sharing and thank you for all the hours you kept those stories alive. I still hear every story in English, though I am not a native speaker, because you transport all those characters subtle feelings so perfectly.

You two are my favorite audiobook narrators as you bring the characters to life with your voices. I’m re-listening to A Memory of Light for the third time in 3 years and it is so good. I’m not sure that I would enjoy stories as much if I just read them. Thank you for your gift!

It's so weird seeing them as real people.. I don't care how much they explain it, voice acting is still magic to me

I loved seeing and hearing behind the scenes, especially since it's usually just hearing your work. It gives me an even greater appreciation for what you two do, and I hope that real human narration never goes away.

Absolutely my favourite narrators. Period. Full stop.
Brandon is an amazing writer. I was blown away when he actually wrote me back with a personal note when I had sent him an email.

I love this soooo much! After all the books I’ve heard these two read it feels like they’re family. I listened to the entire Wheel of Time series at least 7 times and I think I’ve spent more time with Michael and Kate than I have with my wife!

    Hi Team,
Thanks for video into the production of these series.
However like any Brandon Sanderson fan I am left wanting more.
Do we know how the topics were selected?
Will this be a re-occurring thing, there's so many interesting elements that just weren't covered.
How are voices for characters decided?
do they have to read the book once (Or multiple times) before recording?
How did they get into the industry?
It'd be awesome to have questions from the community for these amazing people!

I was actually about to re-read WoT again and had decided not to do it via audiobook in case someone were to ruin them for me (as has happened from time to time-- I am particular about phrasing), but finding out that these two would be the voices, I'm considering changing my mind. It was so much easier to listen to Stormlight despite distractions and interruptions when I could always know who was talking, and when they read almost exactly with the phrasing and the amount of emotion I find appropriate. Such a joy! I'm glad so many others appreciate them as well.
