- I'm so relieved to see all 5 babies back with their mommy, Cutie Monster. She had me worried yesterday when only 2 babies were with her. Today, the babies were so cute reaching into the log right in front of me. Our visit was short. She got startled and took them up the tree. I'm just so happy to see her and the kids.

Aww I knew they would be ok! Coyotes won't usually mess with adult raccoons I've seen a lot of videos on raccoons taking down dogs and chasing off Coyotes. Owls are the biggest predator of the babies. I know exactly how you feel worrying about the babies!
The Great Horned Owl 🦉 is a baby predator. They are around here too. So far, so good. She still has all 5!

Hazel has brought her 4 babies a couple of nights in a row. A couple are very friendly and playful!

Thank you to everyone who supports Daddy Oon . And his continual dedication to feeding the raccoons. I know it must be hard to find the time, and I'm sure it's expensive to feed all these animals. My heart was singing with joy when I saw a cutie monster with all five of her babies!! You got to be exhausted carrying all that water and food up to the woods. But man oh man am I sure glad you do. What great footage you have of them climbing up that tall tree. Every time they go up there I get nervous...lol. But Mama knows Best. Thank you for keeping us updated. . you're the best!!! I would like to know where you get your shelled peanuts? We have been ordering ours - 10 pounds for $30. I would like to give them more of the peanuts, but they are kind of expensive.
I buy 5 pound bags for around $6.50. Possibly Costco or a similar store carriers them. The brand is Sachs and you should but unsalted.

What is wrong with Cutie's tail? Does she have mange?
If she does she will need medicine from the vet to recover.
Also it is contagious so she could spread it to her babies...
She doesn't have mange. It's common for mommy raccoons to sacrifice fur for bedding material. Give her a year, it will be full and bushy!

Suggestion: remove the magic mushrooms you find. Jim didn't show the video, if there was one, a baby found 1 & Jim & Angie were very worried that night. The baby was fine the next day & earned the name Magic. Jim looked around his woods the next morning & found the shrooms. He recognized them due to his career. This happened about a year ago.
I was being funny about the mushrooms 🍄, I think they were just having fun 😁

I thought that feeding wild animals makes them see humans as a food source which leads to them Not being scared which leads to them losing their hunting skills and messes with their Gut/immune system make-up. Then encroaching closer to human spaces which leads to them bringing Their "stuff" into/onto humans which leads to more interactions which leads to "Get those things outta here!" which leads to "Ka-POW!".
Or am I wrong?
Well, I've known some raccoons for up to 8 years that have only been friendly with me and no one else. They are healthy, have had many offspring, and the worse I heard of is a neighbors bird bath was knocked over.
Wikipedia says: Although captive raccoons can live over 20 years, their life expectancy in the wild is only between 1.8 and 3.1 years. Hunting and traffic accidents are the two leading causes of death in many areas.
