I replied your other video In TRADE, bought 2.2 SkyA-D on 118k Mazda history to Sept 2022 at 115k ( 2016 Manual Tourer ) When cold 30 mins nice normal punchy drive, lots power Motorway speeds engine shuts down Oil Light / EML come on after 30 mins ( maybe oil got hot thinner ? ) Got off motorway after 5 or so re-starts, drove well cross country 40 mph roads thereafter, got back 100 miles Taxed, scanned , driven few times locally 5 miles. each way, again , lots power My thoughts is .... strainer or pump carbonised? ?? OR MUCH WORSE, terminal ? Rang previous customer, she had similar back at 115k service, Mazda serviced and re-set and drove another 3.5k Is it worth what do you think sump off loo k? Since scanned P055& one other code I reset codes and they won't come back on but car motorway failed me 5/8 times over 15 miles before getting off motorway Thanks Dan
Can I ask you a question about the engine. I have a possibility to buy a mazda 6 2.2 skyactiv 150hp 170000km but there is the problem with oil pressure. While normal driving (hot or cold) the oil pressure will not light, but when I drive it more dynamic the light will show up. Allegedly the car was at official dealer and they said that the oil pump chain is stretched, what I pretty do not belive but who knows. I am a mechanik so some sort of work I can manage myself on this car. How can I diagnose if it is just the typical problem or there will be a problem on crankshaft, bearings, etc... Replacing the timing chain, oil pump chain, oil sump, camshaft, fuel injector seals is no problem but total dismantling of the engine and problems on crankshaft, main and rod bearing is a no go for me... Thank you.
Hi Colin, I have 2.2d mazda 6 engine which showed up low oil pressure light. The mechanic took the oil sump off and found Ali shavings plus black carbon on the mesh at oil pick up. The metal bits are now all over the engine I believe, and possibly in the turbo too. I am now wondering whether is it worth reconditioning it considering the cost of parts and labour? is it best to look for 2nd hand engine as replacement and precheck the swapped engine before running it? I think this is best cost effective methods? I hope to know your thoughts. Much appreciated.

These engines are a bloody big bill just waiting to happen. Mazda is going to lose its reputation for reliability.
They most certainly are

if the chain is not broken then you can get away with replacement of the oil pump chain, then drive it a see how it goes

I could recon the engine in your car but I would need the car at my workshop, total cost is around £4000 - £4500 in total
What year ?
Its from a CX7 2011
