Aphonopelma seemanni
unboxing
They should make a pixar movie about how all the Ts come out and party when he leaves. And the old worlds are the bad guys.
"The Secret Life of Ts"
Would be cool but wouldn't happen🙃
I'd watch it...
I don’t like the title but I love the idea. Kinda like the pets movie. But for T lovers.
tarantula story(toy story)
basically the poecis are the bad guys
That little "sehr gut" caught me off guard lmaooooo
Ja mich auch 🤣😂🤣
Läuft 😝😂
Omg same haha😂
Nicht nur dich
mich auch haha gut das ich nicht alleine bin xD
What a beautiful tarantula! This tarantula isn't found in the US, however. They're found from Mexico to Costa Rica
He mentioned “some” of the genus is from the US. Aka calcodes and hentzi
Thats litterly America lol Central America is America too, you cant say USA is America.... America is continent not a country..
@@veljkoradovanovic1130 but in the current USA it is 'Murica, which if you didn't know is its own continent. Here we speak American, just saying.
@@DisturbedInOhio U speak english, America as a continent has lots of languages. I can see in your country they don't teach students about geography.
@@fedeph665 sorry that you didn't catch my sarcasm. We live in a more divisive, racist society in today's America. I was taking a shot at that. I apologize again for the sarcasm. However, although geography is taught in our schools some have forgotten and/or failed those classes. Peace and love!
DD: **explains how flies are annoying while smacking the swatter**
The fly at 3:09 : *BUZZ~~~*
Almost looks like she's wearing a Halloween skeleton costume. She's stunning.
Wow this tarantula is probably one of the most calm tarantulas I’ve seen in this channel 😂
*On this channel *
7:58 "miss"
8:04 bug: "I'm leaving, bye"
The large mosquito is likely a crane fly. Awesome vid as usual!
We have mosquito hawks in the USA not sure what their scientific name is but that's what I've known them as. They look like prehistoric mosquitoes. They are beneficial and please don't squash them :)
Don’t kill them! Haha we call them mosquito eaters! They’re amazing to have around. Well in my opinion haha
I immediately assumed it was a type of cranefly
Dah G Man I think they’re the same thing it’s just what I call them haha :p
Leather jacket is another name for them
-edit, nevermind, a quick google search informed me that leather jacket is the larvae form of the crane fly, *neat* !
*has a big cork bark and enclosure*
Petko: so spacious oh my god
🤣😂
I’m a fairly new viewer but I find your accent and voice very soothing and have to watch at least one video a day to feel like my day is complete 😂😅
His voice and passion is what keeps me coming back for sure.
Oh wow! My jaw dropped when you opened the container. It's beautiful!
Have you ever thought of 3d printing the background part of the enclosure? You can design the background textures for it how you want, save on plexiglass, and eliminate foam use.
Hmmmm, good idea although it would take ages to print
Thank you, and Exotics Lair for helping me with arachnophobia.
I no longer have a fear of spider's/tarantulas from both your Guy's channel's.
(I'm Extremely Grateful)
🙇
Maybe it would be a good idea to have photographic backgrounds that would suit their natural environment.
Hmm, I think a planted background makes more sense. Anything else would destroy the dynamic look an would be weird, an the tarantula doesn't REAAALLY care.. I mean they don't see that good at all..
@@esist2wild yeah that could work. The backgrounds are certainly not for the spiders. It is more for the keepers pleasure. I have a few of the old Exo Terra Herbospheres and they have the photographic backgrounds and they look pretty sweet when you try to blend it with the substrate inside the enclosure. If done correctly it would work well. Either that or the corkbark sheets you can get and cut them to size and stick them to the backgrounds. But they are more expensive. Especially with so many enclosures to put them in.
I don't like the look on those tbh
@@TheDarkDen the photo backgrounds? Or the cork bark sheets?
@@TheDarkDen Try putting a mirror on the back
I've been thinking for awhile now, pondering why you haven't got any Venus flytraps in the Den. should be humid enough and got great lights for them as well. Ponder the idea?
it’s better than a fly swat then at least something would be ingesting them and they’d be dying for a reason
He could make a whole terrarium with carnivorous plants.
Flytraps, pitcher plants, etc.
Petko.
This.
Many times this.
Most carnivores plants need full sun all day they wouldn't do good inside.
That's a pretty tarantula. Should call her Skelly since the coloring on her legs look like bones kind of like a skeleton
Google this one: ephebopus murinus
Quite surprised to saw he didn't use his might "sand" to add texture to the enclosure ike he always does.
Im buying my first T tomorrow cant wait!
Congrats 👏
Woo-hoo! Fantastic!
Make sure you clear things out and make room for more... I had to 😀
First T is always exciting, which species did you decide on?

"Sehr gut"
Wasnt really expecting this one😄
Does Petko actually speak german?😊
I have a Costa Rican Zebra like this one too. I can tell you she is really weird in her behavior. She is totally harmless, but 2-3 hours a night she will climb all over her enclosure walls and litteraly let herself fall on her back from the top of the wall, like 30 times every night. She is very bolty, but in a weird way. One minute I touch her and nothing, she stays still and moves a bit very slowly, but the next minute boom I touch her and she bolts at 300 mph giving me a heart attack. Very skiddish and shy, but beautiful and sweet.
Imagine a room with 100s of spiders but still having a fly problem 😂. Love the vids man. Keep it up
I like it better..looks ok but really opens up the interior for more space.
Ah, the Aphonopelma seemanni, the Costa Rican zebra tarantula, also known as the striped-knee tarantula. Such a beauty!!!
Ive been around since the apartment dark den and just realizing how much you have achieved in that amount of time make me happy.
I'm from Ohio and ive always wanted to keep tarantulas and snakes.
But you and chandler fill that void for me
I’m in ohio too! You should keep them. Tarantulas are not too hard to keep.
I live closer to Kentucky and around here I can barely find places that will let me rent with dogs or cats.
If I bring a big as spider im just asking for an eviction
Ryan Planck I have 5 in an apartment. I just don’t tell them lol.
I mean they dont need much space.
So a closet could easily conceal them
I liked how the Tarantula did a small jump into its enclosure. It kinda reminds me of a dog hopping on a couch
Imagine puttng mirrors on the back of the enclosures!!!
When are the crabs joining the dark den??? Can’t wait 😂😂
Thank you for the video, man. Your work does not go unnoticed. I appreciate you.
The big mosquitos you were talking about are called Mosquito Hawks and they eat mosquitos
They can't eat mosquitos...look it up..its impossible with no mouthparts to eat.
A. seemanni was my first tarantula!!! I love mine so much!! They hangout in their burrow a lot, but when they come out I treasure it because it's so beautiful
What a cheeky spider she is The way she moves her legs is so funny
Sehr gut! Sehr sehr gut!
Love this. You doing a great job Petko :)
I keep my a seemanni semi fossorial hahah. It's literally a jar full of dirt and tunnels and I absolutely adore it 🥰
That “big” mosquito is actually a “Mosquito Eater” a good thing! It actually kills and eats lots of mosquitoes!
My OBT just escaped in the last night and buildet a web home 😂 Now i got it back
x Built
Buildet 😂
This is my first tarantula! Great to see you have one, once I saw the thumbnail I knew it was a a. Seemanni
Right, A. seemani belongs to a collection like yours. Sweet girl with beautiful legs! You also need a chalcodes.
You can buy bark tiles that come in the common enclosure sizes. And you can always give them a trim if they are slightly too big.
When you said more space for activities I immediately thought step brothers but with spiders. This movie needs to be animated.
While I am anxious to see the progress on the new (fourth?) Dark Den, a new denizen and a future feeding video make the wait worth while. Thanks, Petco!
The Croatian sensation! I got a new GBB and APT because of your recommendation and I love them.
A. seemani was one of the 1st adult tarantulas i bought, and she is still a favorite! So beautiful! The legs almost remind me of a skeleton leg t
I love her little orange-y spinners. So cute
IDK what other countries call them but we call those giant mosquito things "crane flies" :)
Those little moth looking things are actually a type of fly. It’s a Drain Fly and they are fuzzy like that for water resistance. I live in Greece and they get in my apartment all the time. Maybe I should get a fly squasher!
I always print out a HD picture from a natural habitat and stick it to the back.
The knees, or whatever they're called on a spider, on that tarantula look like sunflower seed shells
I think it's a cool thing to add to your merch store, but of course you must brand them to say dark den
saw the thumbnail, immediately thought to myself "it has to be cyriopagopus albostriatus. petko wouldn't get an aphonopelma."
In the aquairium hobby we would paint the back glass instead of using a film that will bubble. Flat black canned spray paint looks much better than shiny black plastic film. Paint can be removed much easier than taped backgrounds as well.
Very nice new tarantula! Congrat 👍😉
I just got this species as my first tarantula a few days ago. So excited to be in the hobby finally.
I love this channel and community. Thank you Petko
Beautiful
One thing I don't miss about my time in Croatia is the little flies and mosquitos
I like the black. It would look good on the enclosures with the styrofoam since we always see the backs of them and can see the glue
Fabolous tarantula!!! Love your channel!
If you want something really good for taking out stray bugs, get a bug-a-salt, they’re great. I have one, and it works really well. It’s kind of like a shotgun that uses salt instead of shells.
If you use rubbing alcohol to install the background if you have any bubbles that appeared when you installed it they'll evaporate over time and if you start with a a couple extra centimeters on the edge you can always trim it when you're done
Print out a type of Matte Painting, and put it behind the Glas at the back. Like the back of a aquarium.
As always Petko . Great Content!
Just spray paint the back side of the glass with black spray paint it looks good and dosent get messed up from your pets/spider
I can imagine opening one of those boxes for lunch and finding a tarantula.
That throw was fantastic!
What a stunning tarantula!
One of my top 5 favourite New Worlds.
Big fan of this species, both for it's looks and it's stardom.
Pretty sure it was the species used in first Home Alone movie as Buzz's tarantula, its orange spinnerets and general dusty brown coloured ventral are distinctly visible in several shots.
My A. Seemmani is definitely one of my biggest bolting spiders. That's just how they roll.
For flies you gotta aim just behind them with the swatter as they jump/ launch backwards into the air - T. Australian.
12:43: “Sweet, a bit different than what you can see on other tarantulas BUTT”😂
That last video gave is all some massive amounts of anxiety lol glad you found the little dude.
Contact paper or Vinyl is what the new background is called here in the US anyway.
Beautiful tarantula bud!
so nice that you got an A. seemanni! i got a sling in march and shes really nervous and bolty! 😅
i hope that my little one will be as pretty as yours in a few years!
great video as always! i love your content!
greetings from austria!
Whoah ! Look at that beauty !
Im new to the hobby and I want to have a room like this in the future!
I do believe this is the species that buzz owns in home alone.
From backgrounds to blackgrounds XD
As tarantulas are breaking those backgrounds,i think some big plants or cork barks(Also stones)at the back should do the trick
Love your enthusiasm, have watched you for years and can honestly say it's been amazing seeing your love and enthusiasm for all of your animal's. If I was the be reincarnated as a T I would honestly hope to be lucky enough to have a keeper like you.
You could cut the plastic a little bigger and trim it to the glass with a sharp knife after sticking it on the enclosure. Another great video.
She is Beautiful!
Petko: Aphonopelma are usually handlable
All of my Aphonopelma: 🤬😈☠
Cork plates with a "natural" surface make pretty nice backgrounds for terrariums. That's what I'm using too.
More power on your channel watching from Philippines god bless
Changing from the styrofoam back decoration in the enclosure is a good idea. Not only does it prevent the shredded styrofoam issue, it gives the T more space. Another possibility: maybe use a photo of the natural home environment of the T instead of a black sheet?
Anyway, congrats on adding this beautiful spider to "our" collection and thanks for the stream.
Awww i was so much enjoy this video ! I really loves these species! :)
With the back film, you over size it then run a knife over the edge after to get a flush finish
"Fly swasher", "which makes sense because you find fly and swash it"... 😶😂
Have you tried a board made of natural wood as background? But it would probably to moist for that.
Those flying bugs are not called mosquitos. They are called crane flies or depending where you live “daddy long legs” in some places there’s also a spider with that name too tho.
"GET ON WITH IT!"
So cool dude!
I guessed A. seemanni at 0:40 😄. My first tarantula was an A. seemanni and she is named Skeletor 😍❤️. Petko, if she doesnt enjoy her hide and seem skittish you can try to just add more substrate and remove the corkbark. A.seemanni are usually burrowers in the wild. My girl really calmed down after that and felt much more secure when she got to burrow. It was like night and day with her mood
It's a pain when they chew on the background but I personally like the look of having them in an enclosure. When they do chew on the background, I take some sphagnum moss and hot glue it to that spot so it looks natural and fills in that hole. I've done a few things to deter my tarantulas from chewing on the background. I made the background thinner so they hit the back glass and tend to stop when they realize there's no place to dig or escape and I started putting the top of the background a little higher up so they don't think there's a hole there to dig in the corner. Doesn't work 100% but it helps.
I'm calling it a fly squatter now
Such a beautiful spider 🌱
She is a beauty!!
Suggestion for the background: apply the tape on the inside of the glass. That will prevent the glass from reflecting light. You could leave out a few centimeters at the bottom of the enclosure to simplify the installation, as it won’t be visible when the substrate is in place. :-)
Considering it’s Halloween you should call her Beetlejuice! My girl is called humbug as she reminds me of the sweets!
To apply that wrap, use a drop of dial soap in like 500ml of water in a mister, clean the glass, then spray with the soap/water mix, after you cut the wrap about 2.5cm larger than you nee then you peel the wrap and spray that too... when adhesive side is wet with the soap/water, apply it to the wet glass... This gives you time to move it/line it up properly. Use felt coated squeegee, or at least a card inside a thin microfiber to adhere from center to edges to remove all air, then cut the sides with a razor. It will be perfect, and the soap/water helps it adhere with no bubbles.
Black gloss spray paint on the back glass, tape the edges to keep it clean
