What If You Didn't Go To The Vault Before The Nuclear Strike in Fallout 4?

- Have you ever wondered what would happen if, before the nuclear strike, you didn't go to the vault at the beginning of Fallout 4 but instead wandered around Sanctuary Hills? I decided to test it out. So, I started a new game, created my character, and waited for the Vault-Tec representative. When he arrived, I also wanted to see what would happen if I watched TV and didn't open the door for him. Surprisingly, the TV just played the same news repeatedly with no changes, but at least, you can spot a reference to Fallout 76. After a while, I opened the door, provided all the necessary information, and began waiting for news about nuclear explosions in the United States. Upon hearing the required information in the news, I simply sat on the couch and continued waiting.

Imagine a secret ghoul mode
There is one that actually starts up just like this where the nuke goes off and it skips to the same time where you would’ve left the vault but now you’re a ghoul

screen fades to black. slowly fades in and you're on a cart being wheeled to boston. you hear a ghoul voice "oh hey. you're finally awake"
And then you have to wait 200 years in real time before you look for Sean!
Nuke goes off… black screen… and then you hear the sound of hooves on cobblestone… the creaking of a wooden cart… and then… “hey you, you’re finally awake”

Id like to see a Fallout game where in the tutorial if your character doesnt enter a vault, you can play a hard mode where you are a ghoul.
Ghoul would be easy mode it would be extremely hard to die.
@@UnknownPersononGoogle risk of going feral
@@UnknownPersononGoogleI imagine your special stats would be capped (ghouls are more preserved than still developing) and stimpacks would work at 40% efficiency though you have a minor passive heal over time but it’s only a set amount per real minute, resting more than 5 hours makes any damage full heal. I also feel like you’d be restricted in that certain factions would start off hostile to you and you would have to either work to gain their trust or in the case of the brotherhood be hunted down regardless. Certain vendors would refuse to sell to you and/or some would charge you extra. I think it could be done well but it would take a lot of balancing, though a unique ghoul ending would be cool too (ex. Re-bomb the commonwealth lol)

There should be a secret mode: you wait for bombs to fall instead of going to vault, bombs fall, hole in ground opens up and you fall in, you ghoulify but are stuck for over a hundred years, finally you emerge as a ghoul and are greeted by codsworth, you scream at codsworth who never noticed you down there despite passing by the hole and making comments about it
Dude you should turn that into a mod
@@GypsyDanger514 As a modder myself that was my exact same thought. Definitely valid mod's material!
then you get a tutorial and complete a few quests and possiblely a major quest before finding your dead wife/husband and everything goes the same way expect radiation heals you and some people treat you differently.
and you wouldnt be able to side with the brotherhood
there has been a alternate starting mod for a long time wonder if it would be possible to get this idea added in as one of the possible starting points
Somewhere on a Chinese sub ...
"Missiles for Concord ready, fire on my mark. Wait for it... Wait..."
"Sir, all others fired their missiles four days ago!"
"Yes, but there's this one guy watching TV and he haven't tried to leave Sanctuary Hills yet, so WTF am I supposed to do? We wait!"

@@k1er4n544 My head canon is that the sun commander and Nate fought each other in Alaska where Nate managed to humiliate the sun commander, who then sought to command a sub for the sole purpose of firing a nuke at Nate when the conflicts finally went nuclear.
So as long as you never run from a nuclear attack it won't happen.
Very valuable information to have!
Nukes can sense fear
That comment is accidentally historically/politically accurate in so many levels ^_^
I wandered off the trail once by accident because I was looking at the sky and the bomb dropped right as I realized I had walked away from the path 🤣

There are mods that will allow you back into the prewar area after the intro of the game, so I used it to go past the points where the bombs automatically drop if you pass them. After a certain point past the Red Rocket, it’s basically an unrendered/untextured mess iirc
I just turned off hit detection(PC ftw) and walked through the walls of my house out into the neighborhood. Tried to go see the Red Rocket outside Sanctuary Hills. Wanted to see it pre-war. Actually jumped when the bombs dropped and killed me. Turns out the rest of the world map outside Sanctuary Hills simply doesn’t exist pre-bombs dropping. Good times.

What if that wasn't a reference to Fallout 76, but all of Fallout 76 is a giant reference to that one moment in Fallout 4? Hmmmmmm...... 🤔 💭 🤔
Bethesda always puts hints towards games they want to make read some of the books in oblivion a lot of them have story’s of Skyrim and read the books in Skyrim they tell hints of hamerfell
@owenhockley9124 in eso there are also always hints to the next chapter dlc at the end of the last one
What was the reference to 76
it's not really - reference though. it's a foreshadow. If it's a
reference than 76 would have had to come out before Fallout 4.
@@owenhockley9124and all of the books reference Arena. Almost as if all of the games are a series, Genius.
You need to let it run idle for multiple days without answering the door to break it.
ever wondered what it'd be like driving that vaultec van, or any of the cars. I have every time I play Fo4.
i remember someone on YB testing this exact thing years ago and there was a way to survive the nuke while being outside the bunker
you can turn on god mode but at that point you soft lock the game

This video feels like that meme where you try to get your word count up and explain the most unimportant things in the most detailed way possible.
When i did this for myself a while back, I was disappointed that there wasn't an achievement for it.
I got caught up in the nuclear blast my first playthrough cause i didnt realise that section was timed and i was just looking around at ore war sanctuary
Dude I would love it if there was a secret OTHER vault you could run to.
How to watch this guy's shorts: skip to the last 5 seconds
The pre-Nuclear Strike Fallout world would be quite interesting to explore, Maybe if you have to live in that world and complete quests to earn a place in a vault, maybe recruit a team to join you?
Maybe some kind of multiverse portal where you're quest is to end the game by tweaking the past to create a non Fallout timeline, Could then jump between worlds like Zelda 3 (or any more recent game that does that).
You should have been able to tell the guy no who go away. At that point, hang around with your family for a while. She cooks dinner. You can help her. You gather your son or daughter For Dinner sit around the table Then the news goes off tells you about the nuclear Warning Then it's too late. Shows your whole neighborhood going up in flames. Or gather your family up. And go to the vault. They tell you you're name is not on the board. And you die in front of the gate And then the Credit roll
Every 13th playthrough your name isn't on the list and you just die
Like the mod in Skyrim where Alduin just doesn't show up and you lose your head
I wondered so I tried running down the road as did you, and going outside the fence at the Vault entrance. Same thing. Maybe next time I'll try disarming the guards waiting near the Vault.
There's a reference to vault 76 in Fallout 3 in one of the Citadel computers.
Wait really even tho we all know its a prequel to all the fallout lore wise but never knew or noticed been long sinds i played 3
Can confirm, it's listed with several other Vaults in a small archive when you're tasked with locating which one was supplied with a G.E.C.K.
It would've been funnier to find a terminal in FO4 that tells us WV nuked itself into a crater because of these mythical "Scorch Beasts" 😂 @@gundamdude8351
Wasnt there some obscure Fallout reference in portal 2 involving vitrified vaults? A poster in a cracked door or something?
I just wish we actually had a Fallout where we experience the nuclear strikes firsthand and then somehow magically survive. Thus segueing in the main game.
You got it dude. This was the first fallout game where you experience the nuclear strikes and miraculously survive with only seconds between you and death. If you are asking for another game it wouldn't be bypassing the main game, that would be the game. If they did make that game you would have to become a ghoul to survive the fallout. A man turning in to a ghoul in a radioactive dust cloud and massive fresh destruction doesn't sound like a great game to me.
Yeah same, im kinda hoping for a Mad Max reality, no more work and rules , great
Its also the first game to have a mod about surviving and living in it, its really hard
This was the first thing I discovered in the game… I never take games seriously 😅
I'm the same guy. I love to "test" them by sitting still to see what dialogue the NPCs have if I don't do something, and so on. "Come on, man. The door's right there." Stuff like that.
Wish it would let you become a ghoul
I did this yesterday lol but it’s because they deny the vault tech guy and he runs away. At first I thought “oh he is going to a different vault, so I followed him to see where he went
Wish I had 30s of my life back

Most likely nothing: looping news. When he is triggered, the next dialogues are triggered, which in turn triggers the bombs. Everything's scripted.
I wanted to explore on my first playthrough and I thought the nuke was checkpoint locked lol
I think a lot of us can admit we did this on accident
"Have you ever wondered?" Dude, there's no Fallout player that hasn't done it at this point in time.
I haven’t done it. Mostly because I was spoiled of what happens so didn’t see any point in trying myself~
Nah, never interested. It is intro, man, you cant really PLAY it and you come to game not to play intro, which placed hundreds years before actual gameplay. I played Fallouts 2, 3, NV and DLCs, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. What do you think i could hope to find at new Bethesda clone of Arena in Fallout universe intro? GTA-X?
Literally the first thing I ever did in Fallout 4.
I have done almost all the things in your videos myself but still really love watching them and seeing them play out for you. Awesome stuff! 👍
If you're ever in the vicinity of a nuclear strike, run towards it.
Here’s a video idea: the side quest Short Stories entails you telling the story of the deathclaw from Concord alongside the Minutemen to the kids in the classroom in Vault 81. But what if you never fight the deathclaw?
You named him Albert huh
Thanks for doing this video, great to see so many hidden details added by Bethesda they would have been missed by many.
Guess what else? Water is wet, and the sky is blue.
I think technically that's not true, it's just perceived
What if you went to the root cellar behind the neighbors house?
I dont think it spawns
Damn so the mc of fallout 4 just had the power in the palm of their hand the whole time. And because they decided to do stuff the nuke dropped but if they had just stayed in their house everyone would’ve been chilling.
So they waited with the nuclear apocalypse until you come out of your house

Oh, so you just die from the bomb? I'm not really sure what I expected.
I tried 2... i got blew up.
so you found the earliest point of a game over. (I only did it once just to see it happen)
Also someone had a video that "neighborhood" is the only thing that's pre-war the rest so only what you can see from there is pre-war, as they went way up and showed that past where you can see it's already nuked so they didn't have to make two maps, just had two zones in that location.
How do u get out of bounds ?

Fallout 4 was probably the last video game that didn't shove black in your face as every single main character.

I can only imagine a nuke going off while I was going on a morning jog and suddenly being launched through your neighbors house at Mach 10
There is actually a vertiberd past the bridge if you go further with freecam.

Codsworth: “Bring out ya dead! Bring out ya dead!”
Bro forgot to grab the milk and nuclear war wasn’t gonna stop him from getting it
"I started a new game..." hits load
So it sounds like as long as you stay in town, it doesn’t get nukes. All the people in town live. Just find and can start community gardens to survive. Canon you thus murdered those townsfolk.
This happened the very first time I played it. Was thinking it would wait for the player character before advancing any further and so I went exploring the area.
this proves your character is the true chosen one, don’t leave the house and the bombs wont go off.
I wonder if you could get into the little shelter behind your neighbors house before the bombs fall?
I personally love every track from this era, along with all of the morgues music
Funny that the nuke kills you in about 2 seconds but when your on the elevator it takes almost 10
Imagine if you were passed out and you woke up as a ghoul and had to go the vault and you would see shaun gone and your wife dead and you would play the game as ghoul
Most of us explored this already. We already know about the nuke going off if you don’t get to the vault.
And if you manage to jump a shrub out of sanctuary playable area in the intro, instant boom.
